Overview

An Engineer build for open world. This build is an excellent generalist that can make use of most any gear set and performs well in most open world situations including the big three of Events, Solo Content, and Tagging. This build makes use of traits that activate when you damage a mob in order to deal high AoE damage that the Engineer Pistol is normally not capable of.
Curator's Note: This build has been moved back to Testing after the most recent changes to , which was responsible for much of this build's successs.

You can run Inventions over tools for more defense at a significant damage loss. This is recommended in harder content.

Ascended gear and stat infusions are not required; you can use exotic gear with the same stats.

Standard Equipment

The Standard Variant uses the similar gear to the Holosmith - Power DPS build for fractals and raids. This makes it a good general-purpose gear set.

Usage

Damage

  • This build relies heavily on your ability to tag groups of mobs with your pistol's . Always try to attack groups of mobs. This will also ensure you are gaining as much Might Might as possible from Sanguine Array.
  • Use and off cooldown.
  • When tagging a mob, your passive damage abilities will activate. These are from , Can't find such trait "Evasive Powder Keg"! Please refer to our trait index and . Ensuring that these proc on a group of enemies is important.
  • Dodging will refresh Can't find such trait "Evasive Powder Keg"! Please refer to our trait index so keep dodging as much as you can. This can be useful for CC with Can't find such trait "Orbital Command"! Please refer to our trait index
  • Abuse your toolbelt skills to proc as often as possible.
  • Drop your whenever you're staying in one spot for any length of time.
  • Use for resistance and removal of blindness. This is one of the only ways that Engineer can gain resistance. Also a nice way to get protection with the trait.

I wanted to ask the status of this build, as a person who does not like the kits this was more my speed. Also why did the build use power gear and not condi gear considering the pistols applied conditions? Thank you

A very nice and simple build! The best non-kit build (if you remove mortar kit of course) for core engineer. You have constant passive damage with aim-assisted rocket, takedown round and more, making it able to do decent damage without the use of kits. Decent sustain as well. The best part is that this build is pretty simple, though not as simple as other classes that don't have kits, but simple enough that you just need the basic knowledge of the game to learn the build!
