This engineer build is an excellent entry in the arena of Open World Farming for those without the Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire expansions, or those who just want to play engineer. It primarily focuses on dealing high area damage with Burning Burning.

A really fun build for those that don't have the expansions or those just picking up the engineer class. Fairly effective overall but lacking in many ways compared to other top tier engineer builds.

What's nice about the flamethrower is that it usually works through walls, too. Hide behind a pillar and keep tagging!

Do you like tagging enemies? Do you like setting things on fire? Do you like running in circles around Istan and the Silverwastes? This build is for you.

I run a variant of this build in open world, and it's simply amazing. It has great cc (especially with Personal Battering Ram) and trash mob tagging ability. I run it with Wanderer gear (which gives Concentration for permanent 16-17 stacks of might and 1-2 stacks of stability!), so the DPS is not so great, but in groups it's not a problem, and I can out-live and out-heal pretty much anything. (The other day I killed Champion Chak Lobber with one other player, and the build worked really well in the recent Crown Pavilion Boss Blitz too.)

Running a similar build, perfect for Istan or anything where tagging many mobs is important. Flame + scrapper has a synergy that'll keep you alive long enough to loot just about anything in open world content.
