Usage

DPS Rotation

Engineer has a lot of skills, the DPS rotation depends heavily on your alacrity uptime. Though the general idea of a good engineer rotation can be boiled down to using your highest damaging skills off cooldown.

Running

  • Swap to for additional movement speed if you know you wont be put into combat in the next 20 seconds.
  • Swap to rifle and use for additional movement.
    • You can swap to a kit and back to rifle before the end of the leap to increase the leap distance slightly and to cancel the damage upon landing to avoid being put into combat.
  • Swap to and use in reverse for additional movement.
  • These skills will put you in combat if you hit enemies, which will negate any advantage from using them, so avoid using them when there's enemies close.

Stealth

Pathing

Once you Trigger certain Mob Groups while beeing in Stealth they will follow you unless you "Path" them. This is done by standing Still until the Mobs reach you. For further information check out this:

So much easier to play than the current "Power Grenadier" and really fun getting through fractals with this build. Plus you can choose a variety of utility skills for pretty much any situation if needed. Love it!

Simply the best engi build to run fractals now that toughness has been nerfed, great cleave damage and blinds for trash mobs, great burst and decent dps for everything else, and easy to play with that.

After giving it a run on my last raid clear and few t4 fractal dailies, i can honestly say that this build is a fantastic alternative to the Condition build, and is actually a flat out better option for low toughness/moving targets. Outside of having DPS that rivals Daredevil's, Guardian's or Fresh Air Tempest's, it is considerably easier to play than the Condition variant, due to focus on just two Kits, and Toolbelt skills, which also smoothens the learning process for new Engineers.

I must also praise it on its flexibility - you can easily switch out of the Rifle Turret, and take extra utility, depending on what your group needs. Since you're not using your Rifle for anything, but the stats, you're free to pick a pistol/shield for fights where extra block/projectile reflect is really good like Slothasor. Same cannot be said about Condition, as the 4 kit & double pistol playstyle is pretty much neccessary, if you want to dish out the trademark DPS.

In general: incredibly solid, flexible, fun, and simple build to play. I can't say that it's better or worse than the Meta Condi we're all used to - they compliment each other, and both have their moments to shine, just like Staff and Fresh Air Tempest, for example.

When I'm in a high level fractal or raid, I run the Power Grenadier build, but for open world this one is much better for me due to the inclusion of 'Tools' so that I can easily swap to perma-swiftness with streamlined kits. If you don't feel like switching to PG, then PB will perform almost as well.

Compareble to just about any top dps build in the game while having a very easy rotation to pull off. Engineer has great utility as well making this build even better.
