Weapon Skills Template[edit]

Dude I love the new weapon layout you made. Only thing anyway you could make it the same size as the old one. Reason I ask is because I want to do something like this.

Deleted this template because I changed it for the headers. Used to show a full bar of skills. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 14:55, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

So pretty much use the old way to show the utilities and stuff in one line then use the new template you made to show swapables and the second hand set of weapons. Also those ele pages might look a little better without the whole healing to elite thing always being there.

Also can you make a template for like 3 skills only as some situations you only need to swap the main hand. like the one presented. And lastly is there a way to change the name of the thing from weapons 1/2 to something like Replaces Weapon 1/2. Sorry if this is asking for much I would do it but... I am noobz. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Josepepowner (talk • contribs) 19:44, 26 July 2014 (UTC).

Just stop using the original template. I can't edit it, and it's stupid to list the H, U, E skills over and over for each weap kit. That's just bad planning imo Chase (talk) 19:41, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
True it was bad planning Either way I guess I am going to go through the major builds and re edit them. No point in keeping them up. Also you work fast. --Josepepowner (talk) 19:44, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Nah, it was easy xP -- I edited the guardian one for you as an example. Let me know if that's okay ^_^ Chase (talk) 19:47, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Perfect see this is what I like that is what is UP. THX I have no issue doing it either. But thx. Last request lets say I wanted to put them side by side how would I do that. Reason is so I can clear up space. Look at the ele conjur build I have edited with the new style. I was wondering if there was a way to move the blocks next to one another so for the ele one in example is there a way to move the water atun to the left of the fire atun. Like one line. I am sure there is a way but I am not good at this. other than that I will start revising them ASAP love the new look.
Oh heyyyy, my bad. I posted to your page I guess around the same time you posted here. I'm going to fix the traits template next when I get time tomorrow maybe. It's bugging me that we don't show minor traits being filled in at least. Also on the same line gets' quite wide, not sure what happens on smaller resolution screens Chase (talk) 20:04, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
oh what you made is perfect for the first set of things makes it nice and linear. as far as making them right next to each other that would still be sexy maybe creating like a new template that is just ten weapon skills wide then just labeling them and having a break in the middle. IDK lols.

Actually nvm i re looked at the ele one its perfect that way. sorry for being a pain --Josepepowner (talk) 20:11, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Here are new examples you can see Ele D/D, Staff, Scepter/Focus. I think this works out! But please check it on smaller browsers to see if it works :) Chase (talk) 20:13, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Yeah these look sooOOOOO much better I am going to get to work on them GL with the traits hope no one is freaking out about it. I was at first then I noticed the logs. But so far so good. --Josepepowner (talk) 20:15, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Yeah the traits I can edit directly which is nice. However, when tweaking, it affects all pages too :/ So it took me a couple of tries (more like 10-15 i think haha) to get it fixed all correctly. Still learning the code on this thing. And thanks! Looking forward to really souping this wiki up graphically. Chase (talk) 20:17, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
If you want to test wikicode you can make a sub-page of your user page like Chase/Test and try out all your code there. Once you get the wiki code the way you like it you can just copy it over the existing template. Or you can use the "show preview" button while editing the template directly to see how it will look before publishing the changes.--TV Thief Icon.jpgTahiriVeila(talk) 20:19, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
I had not known about the sub-page thing. That's a good idea. Previewing templates does not work as it looks completely shitty with all the conditionals formatted in. Esp doesn't help with CSS widths/heights as browsers preference to fit the text in and changes those values dynamically anyways. I'll do that for the traits though ^_^ Chase (talk) 20:22, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Info on how to get mouseover skills to work[edit]

would be pretty tough--TV Thief Icon.jpgTahiriVeila(talk) 03:28, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Yes, the hardest part would be having our own database. If we can work with gw2skills to provide that database to import we save a lot of work. Yes, would most likely need server side access (if we want to do it the database method.) Big issues number 2 where the skills are split is not that big of a deal. At most they've split pvp and pve and only on a very small scale. The skill hover can show both with parenthetical (PvE) (PvP) damage numbers. So you don't have to identify the skill, and just report it as a single skill where the reader can figure out which parts are important or not.
It's not going to be easy, but I think this person is making it seem a bit harder than it is. Even at the very least we could simply add the "hover" extension to media wiki and hand-type the hover information. The next step would be to integrate that into a template so that people don't have to do it by hand every time. Basically creating our own database by hand (the hardest step) or having it imported by gw2skills. Is there no way to do it with a separate namespace I wonder? So we can just "transcribe" that wiki article into hover over texts then. This is an example of hover over info Chase (talk) 11:15, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

New Message here[edit]

Hey man I was wondering if you could edit the weapon template to allow for two infusions on 1 weapon. For some reason you can not and well GS staff Hammer Longbow Shortbow ECT use 2 infusions but I can not add them due to this issue. --Josepepowner (talk) 14:06, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

JK, I checked your contribs and found the page and template. I changed it so you can add "Infusion2=" to the template. Should work! Chase (talk) 14:14, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Was about to tell you I have no idea to look up templates but you are the champ so you got it. Thanks a bunch and GL with the new trait template. It looks BADASS so far.
Hell yea, jose! Btw, precise infusions are not the best option on that build. Nike is usually slow to admit his maths properly. Also he has thousands of gold to change it around whenever he wants. Power infusions have better play over different game-modes and I doubt our players will have a set with more than one type of infusion. Ask DEKeyz on here what the gains for using precise infusions over power is. If it's more than 5% I can see it's worth \^_^ otherwise for solo-play/wvw warriors will be sad :( Chase (talk) 14:23, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Okay will change it right away but I have a quick question. For the new class specific section I think there should catagories as in it says something like group zerg group roaming group xyz. Just a section where you see them divided in those specific areas. So people are not just like what is this build for. A friend of mine actually mentioned that to me. --Josepepowner (talk) 15:12, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
I think that's a good idea! You should check with Galaxian to see if that's possible. I'm assuming we'll need to tag them with profession-category or something like that. Chase (talk) 17:51, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Hover Tooltips[edit]

"Too many icons that distract from the body of the text. Should be hidden until hovered over." - I don't think it's distracting, people associate skill icons with skills which makes it significantly easier to keep reading without checking what that skill does in order to recognize it IMO. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 13:53, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I know what you mean. Personally, I'd prefer if our combos were just written better. When I end up working on that template, I'm going to be looking over where the heavy in-line skill bars are being used and seeing if they can be converted to rotations. I'm also thinking of making a template for trait variations so it's easier to tell which skill(s)/trait(s) being replaced and by what with a short description on the side. I prefer the overall scheme to "fit" right now the icons cause changes in line-height. It's minor, not something I'm really worried about, but maybe this gives more of an idea about what I meant by that line. What do you think? Chase (talk) 18:34, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
I get what you are talking about, maybe it should be addressed later on. But currently those tooltips are #1 on the priority list I think, everything else is just a minor tweak IMO. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 19:21, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Yep, I have to think how to use all the elements though. In some cases it's just text that wants a tooltip to a possibly small description, other times it might be a graphic icon that just needs a name without a description. Trying to make sure I get it all right the first time around hehe Chase (talk) 22:52, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Overriding the abuse filter?[edit]

Would you like me to disable all the abuse filters until you are done with the hover tooltips or did you mean something else by "overriding"?--Galaxian (talk) 22:23, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Can't you add a user that doesn't have to use the abuse filter? Because I will be making those kinds of modifications all the time and that would get really annoying and limit productivity. Even trying to save the file when making a different change (unrelated to the abuse filter) will trigger it. Like just changing one letter of a file. So if there's a way for me to not be in that list that would be best. (Admin access??? xP then I can work on extensions too ^_^) Chase (talk) 22:26, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
The AbuseFilter's are not checking admins, there are only 2 hits so far so that is most likely not the issue since only Hanz triggered those :D. I have however added other filters in the config file which are most likely blocking you, could you tell me what kind of error you get? I could disable some of those filters in the config file since I don't even think thta we need those yet, there are no bot spammers on the website.--Galaxian (talk) 22:35, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Please see this. Chase (talk) 22:39, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Alrigt, I have disabled that filter. Try and see if it works now. I have 9% battery left and will most likely have internet tomorrow at night.--Galaxian (talk) 22:49, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
"since only Hanz triggered those :D" I have a, you know, special talent for it :D --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 09:28, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Elseif statement?[edit]

Do you have any idea if there is an elseif statement in the ParseFunctions? It would make life a lot easier...--Galaxian (talk) 19:34, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Nevermind, I think I have found a way :D--Galaxian (talk) 20:14, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Guides[edit]

I guess implementing pop-up windows for images is not a quick job, but I'm gonna post the Phase Reatreat guides on reddit tomorrow anyways :P But could you look into it in the near future (only if it's not that big of a feature)? --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 14:14, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Definitely :) I'm out for the weekend again for another wedding, but I have Monday off from work, so maybe I'll look into it then! « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 16:17, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
kk, great :P Have fun btw. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 16:46, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
