Actually abe and jerem got an fyi when i started the list. Abe updated the engi then. Nothing much happened then which I diddn't do afaik. So it might take a while until the list is finished Fredor (talk) 09:23, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

There is no automatic line break if you are rating a comment for your rating. Don't know if this is intentional. Moreover, shouldn't the rating "Guidelines" have criteria on when a build gets moved and how many % it needs for a certain category Fredor (talk) 17:54, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Yeah the template is also kind of outdated. We should slightly change the ranges imo if we are at it. Great could be 90%+ and good maybe 70%+. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 18:05, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
There should be a line break at the last character (working on making it break at the end of a word instead of in the middle of the word). Could you perhaps explain a bit more what you mean about line break? A picture would be perfect. The ranges will definitely be updated. A lot more votes are required before a decision can be made. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 18:12, 7 July 2015 (UTC) Fredor (talk) 18:20, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Help please[edit]

I was wondering if you could help me set up this build for sPvP. Wolfineer uses the same build so I made one that suits me for sPvP. I feel that it is very effective. I would like it called Elixir Flamethrower.;2Z-Vv0o5cQ-x0;9;4jkl;0256157156;4SB0;3H7W3H7W3a0b --Goruu (talk) 07:08, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Created at Engineer - Elixir Flamethrower. I left links to the wvw version since they are quite similar. At least for playstyle look through. You can finish the variants, usage, and counters (just delete what you don't need we can always create those sections again later). Good luck! Saw this build on reddit yesterday and it looked interesting « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 15:16, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Could you make amulets work please? xP Seems like they are 90% done, so close! Would be important for the PvP section especially now that the stats/names have changed a bit. I can adjust the values once you're done. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 14:11, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Rating suggestions[edit]

I think we need at least 3 rating options if we have 3 categories (the current one only works with a much larger pool of testers imo). Bad/Good/Great, we could still keep the hearts (with a half filled one for Good). A "Bad" adds 1 point, a "Good" adds 4 (or 3?), and a "Great" adds 5. This way the current templates/rating ranges could stay relevant too. Next to the heart there could be a very brief explanation of what the rating range means, or maybe in the form of a hover tooltip for the heart. Final note: the guideline points should always be visible as nobody's going to click it xP This is just a quick brainstorming. What do you think? --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 19:26, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Why are you against having 3 options so much btw? Basically nobody can vote for any of the builds under Good or the ones that would be fit for Good because there is no option for that. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 18:53, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
We already have 3 ranges. No heart vote = bad (1 or 2), No vote = average (3), heart vote = good/great (4 or 5). I'm totally confused why good builds are not "like"/heart builds. If a player thinks a build is so-so they shouldn't say they like or dislike it, they should ignore voting. If they feel they want to sway the vote towards a position they can (as they could in the past). The problem is not the system, but the voters in this case. People were subjective and short-sighted prior to this model and they are currently as well. An L2V issue, if you will ;) As a last resort I will make a reddit post informing everyone of this system, asking them to "stress-test" all the builds and vote given these guidelines. (The guidelines points is now always visible.) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 19:57, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Reddit is 90%+ PvE casuals, I'm not sure we need more of those for a voter base tbh :P "No heart vote = 1 or 2" works because we only have 1 category for Trash but we have 2 for working builds. For instance, I'm not going to upvote Terrormancer/SF ele etc because they are not Great, but I'm not going to downvote them either because these aren't bad builds. There are already cases where people are trying to explain that even though they upvoted a build, they think it's not great but that doesn't matter because based on votes it'll be moved to great unless some people start to downvote builds they actually like just to correct the flaw of the system. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 20:19, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Rating votes like this has a math problem behind. As Hanz said, you can't express your opinion only by a like or not, it's like if you are given the possibility to choose 0% or 100% missing all the numbers inbetween. I like the idea you can write a reason behind your vote but I really see no bad sides on allowing people to choose a vote from 0 to 5. A real worl proof is that all the most popular rating websites (ex: Trip Advisor, Amazon( allow a 5 star vote + a comment). Wensites that work on a "like or dislike" votign system (like Facebook or Reddit) have a huge users base and have a rating system that exposes what is popular and hides what is not. If everyone plays a build but it's bad, you don't want it on Metabattle. If nobody plays a build but it's good, you want it on Metabattle. --Warrior Icon Color.png Billaboong (billa-talk) 23:05, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
The problem is that it doesn't work that way. Let's take a build with three +1 votes as an example. Is that build a good one because it got three votes or is it mediocre one because all the other users did not vote Fredor (talk) 21:41, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
btw we should fix all the outdated pve builds before you open a reddit stress test post Fredor (talk) 21:45, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Build Calculator Links[edit]

Would it be adverse to the website to support a link to build calculator sites such as ?

Often times I find myself browsing the builds here and hand jamming the build into a build calculator site to see the stats and maybe change a skill here and there to try new synergies. Having a built in link, or even some sort of referenced code that auto formats links based on the templates here would be great.

I understand this may require the two websites to talk and agree on things, but I think it would greatly enhance functionality and user base for both sites.

We tried working with gw2skills in our early development. It's too complicated sadly :( We have recommend build writers to include a link of the build on gw2skills in the specializations section (However, due to people not updating the link we stopped doing it all together). If you're interested in keeping something like that up to date by hand, it'd be appreciated. Otherwise if you have some other ideas or solutions please let us know :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 13:02, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

DnT on the other has used blood magic instead of soul reaping which throws these bonuses away for some lifedrain damage. As far as I know nobody can really say if they calculated one with lich form damage and thus nobody can say which is the stronger one . The only indication that we have is a quick glance at a spreadsheet where they mostly have been using dagger auto attacks. But we might as well keep both variants for dagger. One with lich form burst and soul reaping and the other with blood magic. Fredor (talk) 01:07, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
@Dulfy Guides: If they are so outdated I would say try to incorporate what we're missing and then delete the link to them. @Necro guide: Since no numbers have been crunched, showing both variations with the explanation behind them is correct. The user can then decide which they believe is more important. Personally I would go for the Lich Form spec ^_^ « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 01:24, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Well that might be quite much actually. Just look at all the explanaitions of the elementalist guide. But if we want to bring back class guides then that would be doable. (btw: what do I have to do that I do no have to fill in captchas anymore? ^^) Fredor (talk) 10:14, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Numbers have been crunched for the necro guide, "60 second rotation . 30 Second rotation . Blood/Curse always comes out on top, for short fights, for long fights. (The blood/soul got cut off but it's so horrible no one would defend it.)" from the necro discussion. *note that "dagger #1 is a short cut for a dagger chain of all the auto attacks, and that specifically the first attack in the 1 slot of the dagger chain is specified as "necrotic slash".--Scootts (talk) 07:13, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

There is no way to see if a page "exists" in the way we do this. Your example is literally go to any new build page, create a rating for a blank page, and then have it show up on the ratings page. I would rather just delete that since its' quite trolly. Getting to this kind of page and accidentally rating it doesn't seem likely yet. Our method is not mediawiki native but jquery added on to an existing page. Perhaps galaxian can have better luck tightening up the rating pages. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 14:25, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, everyone is free to start working on templates whenever they'd like. I will actually be busy playing the game this weekend so perhaps starting next week I'll look at that. Here are other templates to give you an idea of how to copy it over for daredevil:
Note the title, the contents that have to be repeated (but by a different name) and then the links that go to further traits. I'm sure you will have no problems, but you can always google and at worst we can go back and fix any issues that occur. Do not fear! Even if you cannot edit the new page, you can always test it in your own sandbox/userpage. Good luck and venture forth boldly! « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 19:21, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Also get an editor that lets you find all and replace with. That'll help a lot! Boom bam done, you go to paste it in there and you're on your way :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 19:23, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

Those aren't images exactly, they are links to another sub template as you can read up on my post here.
