==Overview==
Condition Firebrand is simultaneously one of the strongest DPS and Support options for open world farming in a group, and is also one of the best strongest solo options available.
+
A generalist Firebrand power build for open world farming that can be played either as a bursty DPS-Support or as a full DPS.

The DPS version of this build offers exceptionally high damage, competing for the highest DPS slots if it has allies, while also providing very high {{Tooltip|Aegis}} uptime. Most of its damage is AOE, making it one of the strongest cleave options available, and its primary damage source being {{Tooltip|Burning}} means that it has burst that rivals power builds, something most condition builds cannot offers. Its primary weakness is its reliance on melee-ranged abilities and its lack of mobility, both of which can be somewhat mitigated by the use of Scepter or Sword as backbar weapons.

Similarly, the Support version of this build (Dubbed "Condi Quickbrand") maintains very high DPS for a support while providing up to 4 allies with permanent {{Tooltip|Quickness}} and very high {{Tooltip|Aegis}} uptime.
+
===Pending Edits===

+
This build is pending an update: Expanding Boon Support options.
Both builds can dip into further ally support through the use of skills such as {{Skill|"Hold the Line!"}}, {{Skill|"Stand Your Ground!"}}, and {{Skill|"Advance!"}}, along with being able to enter into their more defensive tomes should the situation call for it. This versatility makes them incredibly strong picks for general PVE, and especially for open world farming.

===Tome Breakdown===
+
===Damage===
Firebrand has three tomes. Each is dedicated to a different specialty.
+
===Resolution & Radiance===
 +
If running Radiance, your damage becomes highly reliant on your {{Tooltip|Resolution}} uptime. Fortunately, you have several ways of generating this:
 +
* {{Skill|Symbol of Resolution}}, which conveniently lines up with your {{Skill|Whirling Wrath}} quite well
 +
* {{Skill|"Stand Your Ground!"}}, which also doubles as an extremely powerful stunbreak
 +
* {{Skill|Hallowed Ground}}, which provides resolution for several seconds
 +
* {{Skill|"Save Yourselves!"}}, which has a long cooldown and might kill you if used in a large group
 +
* {{Trait|Virtue of Resolution}} if running Virtues, which grants you resolution any time you use a Virtue.
 +

 +

 +
===Virtue Spam===
 +
When running Radiance, and especially if running Virtue, you can spam your Virtue 1 to gain permanent resolution and quickness any time you're zerging in a large group, on top of a 10% damage modifier from {{Trait|Inspiring Virtue}}. This is becaues {{Trait|Renewed Justice}} resets its cooldown any time a mob is killed.

# {{Skill|Tome of Justice}} - Damage via {{Tooltip|Burning}}

# {{Skill|Tome of Resolve}} - healing and condition cleanse

# {{Skill|Tome of Courage}} - defensive boons and projectile hate

In each of these tomes, you can often just spam skills to great effect, but it is strongly advised you sit down and learn what the skills in each tome do. Some big ones to memorize:
+
====Priority====
 +
For Greatsword, you want to time your {{Skill|Symbol of Resolution}} with your {{Skill|Whirling Wrath}}.
 +
# {{Skill|Sword of Justice}} - spread out the usage of this through your rotation to ensure high vuln uptime
 +
# {{Skill|Mantra of Potence}}, {{Skill|Mantra of Solace}}, {{Skill|"Feel My Wrath!"}}, {{Skill|Mantra of Liberation}} - if you don't currently have quickness, use these
 +
# {{Skill|Symbol of Resolution}} {{to}} {{Skill|Whirling Wrath}} - it is worth delying your {{Skill|Whirling Wrath}} for a moment in order to line it up with the symbol
 +
# {{Skill|Leap of Faith}}
 +
# autos

# {{Skill|Tome of Justice}}
+
For Sword, Focus the priority is quite similar, but we replace {{Skill|Whirling Wrath}} with {{Skill|Zealot's Defense}}:
## {{Tooltip|Chapter 3 Heated Rebuke}} - circular pull that can group enemies
+
# {{Skill|Sword of Justice}} - spread out the usage of this through your rotation to ensure high vuln uptime
## {{Tooltip|Epilogue Ashes of the Just}} - provides a very powerful buff to nearby allies
+
# {{Skill|Mantra of Potence}}, {{Skill|Mantra of Solace}}, {{Skill|"Feel My Wrath!"}}, {{Skill|Mantra of Liberation}} - if you don't currently have quickness, use these
# {{Skill|Tome of Resolve}}
+
# {{Skill|Shield of Wrath}}
## {{Tooltip|Epilogue Eternal Oasis}} - increases all healing allies (including you) receive
+
# {{Skill|Symbol of Blades}}
## {{Tooltip|Chapter 4 Shining River}} - a large waterfield that heals
+
# {{Skill|Zealot's Defense}}
## {{Tooltip|Chapter 1 Desert Bloom}} - a powerful heal
+
# {{Skill|Ray of Judgment}}
# {{Skill|Tome of Courage}}
+
# autos
## {{Tooltip|Chapter 1 Unflinching Charge}} - Provides stability, which grants quickness

## {{Tooltip|Chapter 3 Valiant Bulwark}} - a projectile-hate bubble

## {{Tooltip|Epilogue Unbroken Lines}} - provides extreme defense to nearby allies for 5 seconds, also triggers {{Trait|Stalwart Speed}}

 +
Note that for both of these weapon sets it is important to avoid interrupting your attack chains.

===Damage===

* {{Skill|Tome of Justice}} is the main source of your damage, and it resets whenever you kill an enemy thanks to {{Trait|Renewed Justice}}. Try to stay in it often, spamming {{Tooltip|Chapter 4 Scorched Aftermath}}, {{Tooltip|Chapter 2 Igniting Burst}}, and {{Tooltip|Chapter 1 Searing Spell}}.

** {{Tooltip|Chapter 3 Heated Rebuke}} can be used as an opener to pull enemies together.

** If there are nearby allies you can use {{Tooltip|Epilogue Ashes of the Just}}. You can also apply ashes to your {{skill|Sword of Justice}}.

* Outside of {{Skill|Tome of Justice}}, your primary damaging skills are:

# {{Skill|Purging Flames}}

# {{Skill|Mantra of Flame}}

# {{Skill|Zealot's Flame}}

# {{Skill|Symbol of Vengeance}} / {{Skill|Symbol of Punishment}}

# {{Skill|Cleansing Flame}}

* Use {{Skill|Zealot's Flame}} whenever available.

* If everything you have is on cooldown, fill with auto-attacks

 +
====Opener====
 +
For a general-use opener, see the following:
 +
* Open on Sword/Focus

# {{Skill|Shield of Wrath}}

===Boons===
+
If mobs are spread out, it may be more beneficial to start your opener with greatsword for {{Skill|Binding Blade}} and simply skip the {{Skill|Shield of Wrath}} opener.
* Use your {{skill|"Feel My Wrath!"}} and {{skill|Mantra of Potence}} off cooldown for {{Tooltip|Quickness}}.

* Use your {{skill|Mantra of Solace}} approximately every 7 seconds for {{Tooltip|Quickness}} from {{trait|Liberator's Vow}} and {{trait|Stalwart Speed}}.

===Defense===

===Defense===
* {{skill|Tome of Courage}} has many good defensive skills. You can go into it and press a few skills (including {{Tooltip|Epilogue Unbroken Lines}} if possible) to quickly stack defensive boons.
+
* Use {{Skill|Mantra of Solace}} and {{Skill|Shield of Wrath}} to block incoming attacks.
* Carefully time your activation of {{skill|Mantra of Solace}} to block dangerous attacks.
+
* {{Skill|Virtue of Justice}}, {{Skill|Leap of Faith}}, and {{Skill|Symbol of Blades}} blind enemies.
 +
* {{Skill|Zealot's Defense}}, {{Skill|Wall of Reflection}}, {{Skill|Shield of the Avenger}}, or {{Tooltip|Chapter 3 Valiant Bulwark}} can be used against projectiles.

* {{Skill|Tome of Courage}} has many good defensive skills. You can go into it and press a few skills (including {{Tooltip|Epilogue Unbroken Lines}} if possible) to quickly stack defensive boons.
 +
* Remember to always dodge and sidestep attacks if possible. Don't get hit by anything you can move out of.
 +

 +

 +
===Sustain===
 +
* You have a lot of small heals in {{Skill|Tome of Resolve}}.
 +
** Always press {{Tooltip|Epilogue Eternal Oasis}} first as it increases the healing from all your other skills.
 +
* To cleanse conditions, you can use {{Tooltip|Chapter 2 Radiant Recovery}}. You can also use {{Skill|Whirling Wrath}} in the light field from your symbols.

Resolution & Radiance

If running Radiance, your damage becomes highly reliant on your Resolution Resolution uptime. Fortunately, you have several ways of generating this:

  • Symbol of Resolution, which conveniently lines up with your Whirling Wrath quite well
  • "Stand Your Ground!", which also doubles as an extremely powerful stunbreak
  • Hallowed Ground, which provides resolution for several seconds
  • "Save Yourselves!", which has a long cooldown and might kill you if used in a large group
  • Virtue of Resolution if running Virtues, which grants you resolution any time you use a Virtue.

Virtue Spam

When running Radiance, and especially if running Virtue, you can spam your Virtue 1 to gain permanent resolution and quickness any time you're zerging in a large group, on top of a 10% damage modifier from Inspiring Virtue. This is becaues Renewed Justice resets its cooldown any time a mob is killed.

Priority

For Greatsword, you want to time your Symbol of Resolution with your Whirling Wrath.

  1. Sword of Justice - spread out the usage of this through your rotation to ensure high vuln uptime
  2. Mantra of Potence, Mantra of Solace, "Feel My Wrath!", Mantra of Liberation - if you don't currently have quickness, use these
  3. Symbol of Resolution Whirling Wrath - it is worth delying your Whirling Wrath for a moment in order to line it up with the symbol
  4. Leap of Faith
  5. autos

For Sword, Focus the priority is quite similar, but we replace Whirling Wrath with Zealot's Defense:

  1. Sword of Justice - spread out the usage of this through your rotation to ensure high vuln uptime
  2. Mantra of Potence, Mantra of Solace, "Feel My Wrath!", Mantra of Liberation - if you don't currently have quickness, use these
  3. Shield of Wrath
  4. Symbol of Blades
  5. Zealot's Defense
  6. Ray of Judgment
  7. autos

Note that for both of these weapon sets it is important to avoid interrupting your attack chains.

Opener

For a general-use opener, see the following:

  • Open on Sword/Focus
  1. Shield of Wrath
  2. "Feel My Wrath!"
  3. Sword of Justice
  4. Weapon Swap
  5. Symbol of Resolution + Mantra of Potence + Mantra of Solace - (note, it is better to delay the mantras until after whirling wrath if using the Diviner setup)
  6. Whirling Wrath
  7. Leap of Faith
  8. Sword of Justice
  9. Tome of Justice
  10. Chapter 4 Scorched Aftermath Chapter 4 Scorched Aftermath + Close Tome
  11. Fill with autos until Symbol is back up
  12. Symbol of Resolution + Mantra of Potence + Mantra of Solace - (note, it is better to delay the mantras until after whirling wrath if using the Diviner setup)
  13. Whirling Wrath
  14. Sword of Justice
  15. Weapon Swap
  16. Symbol of Blades
  17. Zealot's Defense + Mantra of Potence + Mantra of Solace
  18. Ray of Judgment

If mobs are spread out, it may be more beneficial to start your opener with greatsword for Binding Blade and simply skip the Shield of Wrath opener.

Defense

  • Use Mantra of Solace and Shield of Wrath to block incoming attacks.
  • Virtue of Justice, Leap of Faith, and Symbol of Blades blind enemies.
  • Zealot's Defense, Wall of Reflection, Shield of the Avenger, or Chapter 3 Valiant Bulwark Chapter 3 Valiant Bulwark can be used against projectiles.

Simply *outstanding* build. I have used it to great effect in not only PvE in nearly all variations but WvW zerg environments, as well, especially with the latest updates. I have to give props to the author. Unless FB is considerably nerfed in the near future, this is the build to learn inside and out. The trick is to find the variation that works for you and for your desired roles/areas (e.g., DPS or Off-support, open world vs. fractals, etc.) The other types of PvE have their own builds, of course, but I would even suggest using this (with perhaps very slight modifications) for fractals, for instance, as it is a solid, balanced and powerful build with great sustain and excellent damage output.

Condi Firebrand and Condi Quickbrand are some of the strongest DPS options in the game and they transfer very well into open world. High solo DPS, high group DPS, great utility, even a little emergency healing. Strongly recommend for open world.
