Overview

Power build that shines in meta events due tankiness, self-quickness and having burst. High uptime on Vulnerability, Blind and Chill. Cons are low mobility and long cast times and cooldowns.

Skill Variants

On large meta events, Necromancer has lot of options that are normally not considered optimal in solo- to raid-content

  • Consume Conditions.png Consume Conditions Condition cleanse with 1¼ cast-time.
  • "Suffer!".png "Suffer!" for condition transfer, up to 5 conditions.
  • Well of Corruption.png Well of Corruption good aoe burst that also acts as boonstrip.
  • Spectral Armor.png Spectral Armor Acts as stunbreak and life force(LF) generator. LF generation works while in shroud.
  • "Chilled to the Bone!".png "Chilled to the Bone!" Mostly if you find your flesh golem keeping you in combat or you need long stun and some stability. Does same breakbar damage than golem, but with longer cooldown. Hitting 5 enemies reduces the cooldown to 58½ with trait Augury of Death.png Augury of Death
Niche but decent skill variants
  • Lich Form.png Lich Form High cooldown panic button for long source of stability stability (3s, refreshes every 3s), health through Grim Specter.png Grim Specter and passive boost (+10k Health) and damage through Summon Madness
  • Epidemic.png Epidemic normally not option for power builds in smaller scale, but do note that you are potentially spreading 50 peoples condis into 5 mobs. Swap in few situations like Dragon's stand Thornheart/Legendary bosses in lanes or meta events with Champions. Not worth keeping whole meta event.
  • Signet of Vampirism.png Signet of Vampirism if lot of small and sustained damage is coming. Or you keep forgetting to heal actively.

You also buff 5 people with damage and healing from Vampiric Presence.png Vampiric Presence, make ressing easier with Last Rites.png Last Rites and wells give Protection Protection. Run Well of Blood.png Well of Blood when using Blood Magic and take Chilling Nova.png Chilling Nova as you'd only have one shout.

Marauder Valkyrie Variant

For an even tankier option you can run Valkyrie and Marauder stats with small dps loss. Note that Vitality also increases your Life Force pool but still drains flat 5% each second while in shroud.
Your main crit chance will come from Decimate Defenses.png Decimate Defenses and Death Perception.png Death Perception.

  • - For valkyrie/marauder gear, if you are also running WvW outside meta-events. Also 15% boon duration increase to Quickness Quickness, personal Fury Fury and passive 25% movement speed.
  • - Budget Scholar runes. About ~600 dps loss compared to Scholar on golem, as the rock dog does not scale with stats, however you will keep 4% damage boost up even if you fall below 90% health.
  • - Potentially more sustained dmg increase in open world. A single day-night cycle lasts for 2 hours. It is broken into four stages: day (70 minutes), dusk (5 minutes), night (40 minutes), and dawn (5 minutes).
  • - Alternative for Bloodlust. Also boosts power via

Reaper has amazing PvE CC that can really carry other people who forget to CC at times.

Hard CC
"Soft" CC

Soft CC is CC sub-category that is defiance damage over time rather than "burst", that hard cc is.

  • Terrify.png Terrify - 100 Defiance Damage per (1) second from fear.
  • Chill Chill - 33 Defiance Damage per second. Comes from autoattacks and variety of your skills like Haunt.png Haunt.
  • weakness weakness- 20 Defiance Damage per second. Comes from "You are all weaklings!".png "You Are All Weaklings!" and/or Haunt.png Haunt. 8 second weakness translates to 160 Defiance Damage
  • Grasping Darkness.png Grasping Darkness - 150 Defiance Damage
  • Cripple Cripple - 15 defiance damage per second. Flesh golem (1s per strike), Nightfall.png Nightfall (8s total), Unholy Feast.png Unholy Feast (5s), Locust Swarm.png Locust Swarm (2s per strike, 20s total). Potentially maxing 33 seconds cripple if all strikes hit (495 defiance damage in 33s)
