Support Chrono is a frontline, crowd control and downstate control, with high utility and high healing. It has various utility options which makes it a very adaptable build.

Swap Staff to a Shield for a powerful block and moderate short range CC, some Alacrity Alacrity and Quickness Quickness.


Swap to Scepter for block/evade access and clone generation. Good option for GvG since you benefit from the instant clones to have a longer Continuum Split.png Continuum Split.

  • Make sure to use your Shatters to proc Bountiful Disillusionment.png Bountiful Disillusionment, Flow of Time.png Flow of Time and Seize the Moment.png Seize the Moment.
  • Activate Continuum Split.png Continuum Split at the end of the cast time of a skill, rather than before casting, to fit more skills inside the split window.
    • Try to split (CS) your longer cooldown abilities so you get more usage, generally the elite, Null Field.png Null Field, Illusion of Life.png Illusion of Life
    • Shatter skills can be used inside Continuum Split.png Continuum Split without disrupting the use of other skills
    • Consider usage of Time Warp.png Time Warp and Signet of Humility.png Signet of Humility without Continuum Split.png Continuum Split carefully, unless the skill will make a decisive impact on the fight it is often better to wait and use it inside split for the shorter cooldown.
    • Try to use the last charge of your mantra skills inside split to reduce the cooldown.
  • All of your Shatters give a stack of Stability Stability if traited, don't be afraid to use them just to keep yourself safe.
  • Don't feel the need to max illusions before shattering, it is perfectly acceptable to shatter with one or no illusions out.


  • Provide large burst AoE healing through Restorative Mantras.png Restorative Mantras, and small additional healing from Illusionary Inspiration.png Illusionary Inspiration
    • Use a Shatter skill to gain Quickness Quickness and Stability Stability, charging Mantras faster and preventing interruption.
    • In regards to Mantra of Pain.png Mantra of Pain, this skill can be charged, then used instantly and recast, making it extremely high healing per second.
    • Try to fit your other skills in the time when you are using up the flip skill charges since they do not interrupt other skill casts.


  • Blurred Frenzy.png Blurred Frenzy isn't only for dealing damage - it's your second, short CD Distortion.png Distortion which can be handy when you are expecting a burst, but ran out of dodges.
  • The chain skill of Illusionary Leap.png Illusionary Leap, Swap.png Swap is a powerful skill. You can Immobilize Immobilize the target so he can't dodge your team's burst.
  • Don't be afraid to hold on to Deja Vu.png Deja Vu if it isn't immediately needed, you have 10 seconds until the buff expires.
  • Tides of Time.png Tides of Time has no target cap and hits both allies and enemies. Try to use it along with Signet of Inspiration.png Signet of Inspiration so you can raise the alacrity duration.
  • Temporal Curtain.png Temporal Curtain Pull enemies to the line. The skill need to be placed and then reactivated, use it to bait dodges and stab skills. Also useful to grant swiftness to allies and crippling enemies.


  • Make use of the About Face keybinding to Phase Retreat.png Phase Retreat forwards quickly.
  • Chaos Storm.png Chaos Storm's Ethereal Field is powerful at the beginning of fights, but be careful not to disrupt Water Fields later on.
  • Chaos Storm.png Chaos Storm can be used on downed players to fish for interrupts on stomps and rezzes.
  • Phase Retreat.png Phase Retreat can be combined with Blink.png Blink to safely finish downed players. Use Phase Retreat.png Phase Retreat after starting the stomp then just before the cast time finishes use Blink.png Blink to move back to the downed player.

Not sure why this build is still there. In zergs - excels in pulling enemies from walls, provides some trivial boon support, is hard and annoying to kill. Apart from that - not much. A tweaked dps/support version would fair much better in small scale fights or roaming. As for this build - it's high time it got archived.

An situational build. Better for commading than FB since you coordinate your CCs with your team damage, place your own Veils and have access to powerful blocks/invulnerability. Brings a set useful utilities. A viable build when looking for specifics goals.

Very flexible build option a decent amount of variants that can support differently group compositions. This build provides good CC for Winds, good boon support, and good stealth access, as well as some mild heal somewhat passive heal support. This single build, if played to the strengths of the team and its playstyle, can be the one that changes the tide of the battle due to what it brings to the table.


Recent nerfs have made this build much less usable. Even with the recent updates to the build, it is much less useful than previous in a group composition. IoL is strong, Gravity Well is strong, but neither are reasons to absolutely NEED to bring a Chrono. Without boonshare, Chrono tends to be used primarily as veilbot if a group pushes, and the occasional Grav well.

A strong support build that provides strong boon uptime, alot of utility/CC and some moderate healing if the user knows what they doing.

Atm the combo of focus pull + GravWell + Spellbreaker Bubble is insane!

It requires a bit of practice to know when to pop the skills, but it's a rewarding Support Playstyle that doesn't make you feel like you are just spamming buttons to keep everyone healed.

However it's not as important as a Firebrand on a 5-man group ofc, but Very strong none the less. 1 good boonshare mesmer can change the outcome of a fight.

Great build, with great boon duration, but if you switch out minstrel armor and weapon to giver, you just lose 2,5K hp (practically nothing), nealry nothing healing power but get higher toughness and 11%+ boon duration. With Rune of Leadership the build loses just 42 toughness, but the boon duration is 21% more. Switching out minstrel accessories to exotic (sadly no ascended) giver, you get lower hp (16-17K), but get 6 more toughness and 30% more boon duration. Anyway great build.

Despite the release of Path of Fire, this build retains its status as the most versatile and unique support in the game. The ability to veil, portal, boonshare, reflect, distort, stomp, pull, chain CC, as well as a strong amount of healing and cleanse support, is unparalleled. Even with the decline of boon dominance, the versatility makes this build impossible to give up, with at LEAST 1 required in any organized group.

For a long time, I have loved the boonshare (BS) chrono. The BS chrono fulfilled additional support areas between the AH midline guardian and sustain revenant. When roaming, the sheer durability of it allowed players to easily fight multiple opponents by substituting the elite and a utility for more offensive skills. The combinations were relatively mild and provided great support for medium and large groups. However, with the release of the new specializations the build has become a liability for core groups. I do not recommend this build for higher tier servers.

Very powerful build bringing unmatched support in the form of boons (particularly resistance and quickness), along with access to stability/strong direct condition cleanse/strong crowd control with time warp. Has a massive amount of build diversity to match a variety of situations. Has a steep learning curve compared to other classes but it's well worth it.

This is a very solid build for anyone looking to play Mesmer in open-field combat with a medium or larger sized group. It provides superb boon support for your allies and its access to resistance is one of the few hard counters to condition play in the current meta. With the new living story nourishment and concentration stacking sigil, the barrier to entry is lower than it ever has been before. Although not a direct replacement for front line Guardian or Herald, this build comfortably fills in the gaps and should be considered essential for organized play.
