Overview

Support Chrono is a ridiculously powerful boon support that provides 100% Quickness Quickness and Alacrity Alacrity uptime for its party. This massively increases the group's damage and healing output due to faster cast times and lower cooldowns. In addition, it provides a massive amount of CC through
and
, excellent boon coverage through
, and a lot of incidental utility.
Support Chrono is currently a meta defining build and most other fractal builds assume that you already have a Support Chrono in your party. In experienced groups, the healing and Might Might this build provides is enough to sustain the party, allowing the Druid or other healer to be replaced with a 3rd DPS.
For a variant of this build specialized for no-healer comps see Chronomancer - Boon Support Healer.
This guide is focused on fractals. For the raid version see Chronomancer - Utility Boon Support.

Slot Changes

Healing Skills

  • can be taken in low pressure fights for higher personal DPS. If you run this make sure your group can maintain
uptime as dropping below 90% will be a much larger DPS loss.

Utility Skills

As fractal fights are often very short, you have some leeway to replace your boon-sharing skills with various utility skills. If needed, you can swap out
and fill quickness with
.
  • if reflects are needed, particularly useful on the elemental in the Snowblind fractal.
  • to provides aegis and stability to your group.
  • can provide more alacrity together with
    if needed.
  • on short fights where you don't need as much quickness or alacrity.
  • if boon removal is needed.
  • if you need to deal with both boons and conditions.
  • ,
    , and
    for teleport skips.

Elite Skills

  • for add control, or if there are a lot of small breakbars which
can't come off cooldown fast enough for.
  • if the CC from
    or
is not required. If you swapped out
this skill is mandatory to maintain quickness in long fights.
  • for stealth skips (combined with
    ).

Specializations

Chaos/Inspiration

Chaos/Inspiration is the standard trait setup for Chronomancer in fractals. It shares nearly every boon in the game through
, including ~20 Might Might, Stability Stability, and Aegis Aegis, which provides a huge damage increase to every Elementalist or Deadeye in your party, and makes it a strong choice on high-pressure or CC heavy fights. The main drawback of running Chaos/Inspiration is its very low DPS.
Note that this variant has a slightly different gear setup due to the extra boon duration gained from
. While you can still play Chaos with the normal gear setup, you will overcap boon duration and have a lot of wasted stats that reduce your potential damage.

Variants

  • if you're new to the class and have trouble staying alive.
  • provides a lower cooldown on
if you don't have trouble maintaining 10 boons.
  • for condition cleanse or if not running focus.
  • can be run for marginally better personal DPS if your party members have no trouble maintaining the
    bonus.

Chaos/Illusions

Chaos/Illusions is very similar to Chaos/Inspiration but sacrifices the Aegis Aegis and Distortion Distortion from the Inspiration traitline for more damage.

Variants

  • if you're new to the class and have trouble staying alive.
  • provides a lower cooldown on
if you don't have trouble maintaining 10 boons.
  • for condition cleanse or if not running focus.
  • can be run for marginally better personal DPS if your party members have no trouble maintaining the
    bonus.

Dueling/Domination

Dueling/Domination is the riskier but higher DPS trait setup. It grants significantly more DPS than Chaos/Inspiration, but doesn't share any of the extra boons from
, and is much less forgiving when it comes to quickness/alacrity uptime. In longer fights, you have to lean heavily on
,
,
, and the other Chronomancer to maintain boons, which means you can't take
or
for CC. This build is best used in short fights that you don't expect to last longer than 20 seconds.

Variants

  • can be run for marginally better personal DPS if your party members have no trouble maintaining the
    bonus.

Dueling/Illusions

Dueling/Illusions is a variant of Dueling/Domination which deals slightly less damage but grants cooldown reduction on
.

Variants

  • can be run for marginally better personal DPS if your party members have no trouble maintaining the
    bonus.

Equipment

There are many variations of gear for Chronomancer and some of them can be difficult to acquire, however they all share a common goal in their stat choices which is to reach as close as possible to 100% boon duration while under the effect of
. This gear assumes you will be gaining extra boon duration from
with 10 boons and having 150 agony resistance and the Fractal Mobility Potion - if you don't have that combination you will be below 100%. Additionally, the following gear assumes you're not able to use any Stat Infusions to gain extra concentration. If you can use infusions or you're not using the Chaos traitline you can use dT's gear optimizer to decide what combination of gear will be best for you to use.

Usage

Choosing a Traitline

As a general rule you should run Chaos/Inspiration. If you have a highly experienced fractal group and want to try pushing your kill times, you can run Chaos/Illusions for more damage, and Dueling/Domination or Dueling/Illusions for even more damage on short fights.

Rotation

The main role of Support Chronomancer is to provide permanent quickness and alacrity to your subgroup. You can provide these boons directly with the following skills:
  • (not required unless you aren't running the Inspiration traitline)
  • (not required unless you aren't running the Inspiration traitline)
You also keep up a good amount of quickness and alacrity on yourself with
,
,
, and/or
. You should constantly be sharing out these boons with the following skills:
  • to copy
When all your boon sharing skills are on cooldown, just deal DPS with
, phantasms, and autoattack chains until your skills are available again.

General Tips

  • Remember to press your shatters to proc
    (and
    if traited).
  • Proper well placement is crucial for boon uptime. Make sure you throw your wells where your teammates will be standing, not under your own feet. As a general rule of thumb, you should throw wells at the boss, as your party should be stacking in melee range.
  • and
only provide boons when they expire, 3 seconds after the initial cast. Make sure to take this into account if your party is moving around frequently.
  • When possible you should use
to increase your boon uptime. See "Continuum Split" below.
  • You can delay
if you need to Aegis Aegis a specific mechanic. This may cause you to briefly drop boons, but it's better than wiping because you didn't do your job.

Chaos/x Specific Tips

  • In addition to your normal role of sharing quickness and alacrity, you can also share stability and a ton of boons from
. Just press all your shatters off cooldown and you'll share these boons every time you cast
    or
    .
  • In some cases you might want to save
    or
to deal with specific mechanics. Keep this in mind if there are no other sources of regeneration or fury in the group.

Dueling/x Specific Tips

  • In realistic situations, this build can't maintain permanent quickness and alacrity by itself. You should only play it if you're confident that you can burst down all enemies before your boons expire.
  • Precast
    and
if possible for minimum downtime on quickness and alacrity as the fight starts.

Continuum Split

  • is a very powerful skill for boon uptime. While in
, you can cast any of your boon-sharing skills "for free" without expending a cooldown. Use
to double up on boonsharing whenever possible.
    • It's worth delaying skills by a few seconds if
      is coming off cooldown.
    • You should save your clones if you're going to
soon so that you can get a longer
      .
is helpful for generating clones here.
    • Remember that
also makes you teleport to your original location when it ends. Be wary of your positioning when using it. Abort it if it's going to kill you on the return teleport (e.g. teleporting you off the platform on Arkk).
  • Another use of
is to get a shorter cooldown on
    and
. Because these skills have a longer cooldown than
, you should only cast these skills inside
if possible. This effectively reduces their cooldown to the cooldown of
    .
    • On fights where CC is important, like MAMA, you should always save
      to cast
      rather than boon-sharing.
  • Always activate
as late as possible in the cast animation of whatever skill you want to
. This is because skills only go on cooldown when their cast animation ends, allowing you to fit more skills inside your
    .

Other Tips

  • Unless you will be entering
soon you can shatter your clones with
    for extra damage.
is worth using to generate a clone for shattering if you don't have 3 already.
  • If possible, use
to mitigate damage instead of dodging.
