Maybe it never coalesced into something brilliant. Maybe it never made it off the ground floor. Maybe we based our better ideas off of it. Basic builds are anywhere from downright bad to just shy of being good enough to showcase. These builds share the widest ratings and can lead to wildly differing levels of success.

Utility:

  • - a powerful CC tool to free up damage windows. Must be cast with LoS before target goes behind cover & Prior to going stealth since it will reveal you now when you cast it.
  • - Low cooldown, long lasting, easy to get your stealth back with it with leap finishers and amazing projectile prevention with decent melee hate due to pulsing blinds.
  • - Similar to however has an AoE knockback and does damage if enemies are too close, which reveals you, great cc if you get cornered or surrounded. Should be able to knock people off points/cliffs. Do not use if an enemy is close by while already in stealth as it reveals you.
  • - Has an advantage over in that it provides AoE stealth to allies meaning it can be used to help save team mates or lift people when they're downed. Can be paired with a pistol offhand for extra AoE stealth and provides a stunbreak and aoe blind. Be mindful, it now has a 1/4 cast time. Solid Choice
  • is easily the most versatile skill in the build if taken. Couple of applications include:
    • Extending the reach of rifle by 1200 range instantly.
    • Escaping from melee, and then doing it again with when they get close.
    • Stomping downed opponents with Shadowstep Shadow Return.
    • Breaking stun and cleansing conditions.

Usage

  • ☠ Maintain stealth with Dodge Rolling, Using and using SR/other stealth utilities and Marking targets. Don't forget that Snipers Cover can give you a free smoke field to use , just make sure you have no target when already stealthed as autoattack will trigger. If taking , use either or spamming (note that you must not hit an enemy with EITHER skill or you will be forcibly revealed!)
  • ☠ Start with to begin building up Malice through your critical hits and initiative cost skills.
  • recharges at the cost of losing all malice and give you initiative. Use it when you run out of initiative, need to change targets, or need to interrupt with
  • is easily the most useful skill if taken in the build. Couple of applications include:
    • Extending the reach of rifle by 1200 range instantly.
    • Escaping from melee, and then doing it again with when they get close.
    • Stomping downed opponents with Shadowstep Shadow Return upon ending stomp animation.
    • Breaking stun and cleansing conditions upon .

  • is good for more than just cleansing conditions or boosting your precision, its active effect restores an entire dodge roll's worth of endurance which can be turned into stealth.
  • ☠ Maintain your stealth until ready to strike, tab through your enemies and pick a low target to kill. Maintain your mark, get in some sneaky popshots with to build up malice and then until ☠Dead☠. Don't get too antsy. Rebuild malice or finish very low targets with >>.
  • ☠ As soon as you spike the target, whether they go downed or not, quickly use to re-assess.
  • ☠ As with most Deadeye builds make use of high stacks of Malice, you have 7 stacks of malice and when you get this high (+21% dmg), its time to act or engage another target, but be aware as soon as you act you have to have an escape plan
  • ☠ Find opportune times to decap areas while staying in stealth, be sure to come out of stealth to be able to cap!
  • ☠ If you need to "get out of Dodge-city" quickly, use a couple of times to gain distance while preserving a bit of initiative in order to consistently pin your target down with .
  • should be used as a bread and butter attack to generate malice for M7 as well as keep distance from your target. This skill, if casted before a target goes stealth, can still be casted on stealthed targets as long as you cast it again/hold the skill down before they become un-immobilized. This is a huge advantage but takes practice.
  • ☠ A great chain to use infinite immobilize & Initiative spam is to mark the target > until full malice > Dodge to trigger stealth from > and repeating. Make sure to always remark your target to continue this chain.
  • ☠ The stolen skill from thieves, is great if you find a thief hard to deal with as it always hits unless they dodge it even if they are in stealth which can save you from most of their stealth attacks like ...use it when they go stealth.

I'm not as down on Deadeye's rifle as the community as a whole seems to be, but I have problems with this particular build compared to other +1 builds.

"Stay in stealth and tab until someone is low." "When you have 7 stacks of Malice, it's time to act." Are you kidding me? This is basically just letting the rest of the team carry this build. I'd be furious if someone on my team were just sitting on the side in stealth for an entire team fight, waiting for "their moment." Yes, there's a threat to taking 11-19K Rifle 4 out of nowhere into a fight, but that's a lengthy duration into a team fight when a team was fighting a man down. Any other +1 build would have achieved the same results with significantly less set-up. Just because this build can sometimes survive a bit better due to extra stealth (and I say sometimes, berserker amulet thief with Mercy as the only stunbreak really won't hold up any better in many cases regardless of that extra stealth) doesn't mean it's more useful than the other +1 builds. There's almost no functional difference between a +1 build jumping in and dying and a +1 build jumping in and then taking almost a minute to run away and heal in stealth.

To give credit, Rifle 4 untargeted is a decent replacement for Shortbow 5. It doesn't replicate the vertical movement, but covers distance nicely, meaning D/P found good use as an offset.

This build essentially suffers from the same issues that all of the other rifle builds suffer. First of all D/P doesn't really add anything to this build, I'm not sure what one is supposed to do with it but going into melee will get you gibbed instantly with berserker on and there's no survivability added in a 1v1 scenario because all you have in the name of defense are blinds which work as situational mitigation but not really as any sort of meaningful survival option. In addition it doesn't really have any synergy with anything else on the bars, there's no aoe stealth a la shortbow/pistol combo, it's really just used to build up stealth but with all the other stealth you have on your bars it's redundant.

Another big problem this build has is all the casting times, which is really the same problem with Deadeye in general but i dont think ive written on it so I'll go ahead and mention it here. If your elite skill gets interrupted you're doomed, on top of all the other skills on this bar being fodder for pulmonary impact so there's the losing to daredevil issue all over again.

The idea has a lot of potential but i dont think rifle or the deadeye spec is in a place to take advantage of the strengths adequately in any high octane game but I'll toy around with it and see if I change my mind. until then at the end of the day deadeye rifle struggles to duplicate what other builds can do and the other builds just do it
