Usage

  • Use traditional d/d might stacking rotation: Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Repeat. If under pressure attune to water as soon as it's available but be sure you leave one attunement ready to be able to swap out quickly to have water available again.

Good personal survivability but that's about it.

The damage relies heavily on Burning Speed and Churning Earth, neither of which are even approaching reliability and neither is even that impressive in terms of damage.

The CC exists but it's extremely flawed; Earthquake is easily avoidable due to locking you in place and Updraft forces you to burn a gap closer to get personal value out of it. Shocking Aura is good but still not reliable.

The team support seems decent until you realize you're providing the occasional 2.5k heal in AoE in the era of Reapers cleaving for well over 15k in seconds.

It's playable in the sense that you're not worthless but that's about the kindest thing you can say about it at this point in the game.

One word: powercreep. If HoT killed this build then PoF for sure cremated it. Low sustain combined with lower damage than what a dedicated support does makes this build unplayable. It's from an era when you could mitigate damage with Protection whereas nowadays people just cleave through it like nothing, and the relatively good cleansing is still nothing against a Mirage.

I miss this build but I don't see Anet ever bringing it back. Actually S/D weaver is kind of an upgraded version of this build, and even that one is basically the worst thing you can play in ranked without being useless, so I think that says it all.
