Overview

The Valex Staff is a nuker build for Elementalists that focusses on three things: DPS, survivability and might stacking. "Valex" stands for the gear it uses: Valkyrie gear with Exuberance runes (See "Equipment" below). It makes use of signets for might stacking, through the various traits available to Elementalists. This is a balanced, heavy damage setup that grants good survivability for PvE events and still allows you to clear dungeons.

The Sigil of Accuracy is necessary, in order to make up for this build's lack of precision.


Equipment

A Valkyrie set provites power, ferocity and vitality, while Exuberance runes provide +100 vitality and convert 7% of your total vitality to power, 5% to precision and 3% to healing power. Because of your important amount of vitality, the amount of power you gain from Exuberance runes is superior to the amount of power you can get from any other power-oriented rune. I will demonstrate this mathematically:

  • In my case, I have over 1800 vitality. 7% of 1800 is 1800*0,07 = 126 Power.
  • As for precision, 1800*0,05 = 90 Precision.

Some pretty good numbers, considering you will be running around with roughly 22,000HP at level 80.

Build Usage

This build plays out much like any typical Elementalist build, except you have double the survivability. Nuke your enemies from a distance with your staff. You will notice that this build makes use of elementals. This is in part because the elemental spells are Glyphs (meaning they trigger Inscription Inscription, and in part because they can be of great use to you and your team:

will grant you an extra 5 might. By using the rest of my skills, I usually peak at 17 might and then keep a stable 10-13 might while attuned to fire. In dungeons, with a good guardian, it is easy to maintain 25 might in every battle.
