Overview

Turret Engineer is one of the easiest engineer builds to play. "Turreteer" utilizes its turrets to win the fights. Powerful point holder in smaller skirmishes, mobility and teamfight-potential are on the short end. Biggest counters are AoE cleave and simply being outrotated - due to the stationary nature of this build, if you stand on close and the enemy won't come for you, they can secure a 2-cap in a 4v5 situation - therefore it's less effective against experienced teams.

    . There are many spots where turrets can be very well fortified. Many of these spots are unreachable by the engineers. Deployable turrets lets the engineer access these spots. They are most useful in Forest of Niflhel and Temple of the Silent Storm due to its perfect turret fortification. Skyhammer and Battle of Khylo can use this trait only when there is no one using Skyhammer or Trebuchet; however, Turret Engineers do not need Deployable turrets when manning Skyhammer or Trebuchet. Cons: you'll lose valuable CC.

    should always be placed in the back where it is fortified. Optionally, rocket turret can be placed covering the second entrance. Rocket turret is the most damaging turret of the three but has the longest cooldown. You do not want rocket turret destroyed if you can help it.

    should always be placed where it covers the front entrances where players usually enters and exit on the points. Rifle turret's role is to invite the enemy in or keep them away. The rifle turret has a huge range of 1500. So most, if not all, professions cannot reach this range without getting damaged by the rifle turret. Even if the rifle turret is destroyed, the engineer can regain it easily with the low cooldown.

    is the only turret that needs to be placed where it requires very little turn speed. There are two options, At the edge of the side on the point(The place between the entrance and back of the point), so that the net turret can snipe enemy players when they noticed it coming in, or at the edge on the front of the point. This allows the net turret to stop some players from coming in to stop the decap. However, the players become more aware of the net turret as they see the net turret right there.

Counters

  • AoE cleave (your turrets are extremely vulnerable to AoE cleave - for example Eles, Warriors, power Necs and Mesmers can cause trouble).
  • Poor placement of turrets contributes to this issue. Through poor placements, enemies can just cleave through the turrets and destroy them all in one go. This will leave you defenseless and half the player.
  • Heavy condition pressure - while it's not effective against your turrets, it is effective against you as an engineer.
