Maybe it never coalesced into something brilliant. Maybe it never made it off the ground floor. Maybe we based our better ideas off of it. Basic builds are anywhere from downright bad to just shy of being good enough to showcase. These builds share the widest ratings and can lead to wildly differing levels of success.

Guardian build focused on sheer burning damage/cc. Used for PVP

Average survivability with 20k HP, With above average mobility. Works best when fighting multiple opponents but can 1v1 effectively.

If your skills are down you can rely on regular attacks as your Justice passive will now burn every three hits, in an aoe, and cripple enemies hit.

Teleport in with 7 then 0 9 8 to trap what would hopefully be more than one person, proceed to use 3 for a leap finisher on the fire field to get fire shield. Retaliation is built heavily into this build, using any virtue, healing, getting any sort of cc on you will all give retaliation. This is to mitigate the weakness of this builds low toughness vs power builds.

Swap to staff out of combat and use 3 for mobility, or if entering combat it is possible to hold for a moment and use 4 to get twelve stacks of might plus the two from the swap, this combined with the elite skill will give over 600 power and condition damage.


Stay close and if the enemy keeps distance, some good options are F2,3,5,7, and if you must you can use Justice active to tether and pull (For instance a ranged character on a ledge). Generally do not use Justices active because the bonus damage it deals and the cripple is lost while on cooldown.

Purging flames gives condition removal while test of faith gives protection.

If an escape is needed, be sure to untarget the enemy. Use greatsword 3 and F2 for two leaps and switch to staff using 3 to give quickness.


  • Heavy physical damage especially from a rangers volley will be a problem but this can be mitigated by using Shield of Courage to destroy projectiles.


Indomitable Courage is a possibility for stability in the Virtues tree. Offhand is up for swapping to something different but mobility and might will be lost.

If a bow is wanted for a mainhand or offhand take Heavy Light instead of Hunter's Fortification in the Dragonhunter tree.
