Maybe it never coalesced into something brilliant. Maybe it never made it off the ground floor. Maybe we based our better ideas off of it. Basic builds are anywhere from downright bad to just shy of being good enough to showcase. These builds share the widest ratings and can lead to wildly differing levels of success.

Overview

The guardian is well known for its versatility and utility. This build utilizes maximum Healing, Cleansing and Buffing of allies as well as CC and survivability. It has also been known to down an invader or two when help is tied up elsewhere. Although the build is similar to the Guardian - Virtue Bunker build, the differences are the key to it's effectiveness. There are MINOR changes that can be made to this build for PvE and WvW. The PvE variation is called Guardian - LFHealerAndTank. The WvW variation (page not created yet) will be called Guardian - Have Staff, Will Travel.

The extra ally heals associated with Dwayna and Monk are very helpful in many situations, however the loss of Vitality, Toughness and the extra cleanse are something you have to consider. Honestly, if I abandoned Rune of the Soldier for ANY of these three, it would be Monk for the 10% outgoing heals and the boon duration that gives me a little more outgoing damage - as well as longer might, protection, regen and retaliation. Monk would make "Save Yourselves!" the worlds greatest shout!

    we have 16 stacks of might + 7% Damage. Should we be dodging fools for Selfless Daring heals when we do this we would also get another 10% Damage due to Elusive Power. So all together if we work it out right we'd get 16 Might (or more with random boons from shout cleanses) + 17% Damage = the ability to solo defend your point 1 on 1, OR at least take a chunk out while help arrives. This is assuming that the enemy doesn't kill themselves first with the numerous sources of Retaliation - including an automatic retaliation when they try to CC you thanks to Retaliatory Subconscious - and another when you are knocked to or below 50% health with
