Usage

General

  • Soul Reaping-only: All of your marks are unblockable and generate Life Force. Staff in general is your Life Force building set.
  • Spend most of your time in range.
  • Both weapon sets have one unblockable hard CC skill:
    on Scepter/Warhorn and
on Staff (only with Soul Reaping), use them to throw blocking enemies off balance.
    • Tip: sometimes it's better not to interrupt your target right away as blocking enemies usually don't expect to be pressured - this time frame can be used to land multiple important staff skills with little to no risk of being avoided.
  • - the frequent damage pulses are great for consuming Blindness, the Swfitness makes it easier to stick to the target while in Reaper's Shroud, and finally also pulses soft-CC in form of Cripple. Its multiple hits synergize quite well with your heal signet's active effect and the trait
    .
  • Scepter autoattack chain is your main filler that you spam while waiting for your CDs. The final attack corrupts a boon, which can be quite punishing for any opponent with pulsing stability especially other Reapers.
  • Combo Frost Aura whenever you can by using
in the Ice Field created by
    .

Signets

  • General: All of your signets convert 2 boons into conditions. None of the passive effects work in Reaper's Shroud.
  • - often used just before entering RS as the active effect does work while transformed. Casting the signet ignores line of sight and blocking.
  • - your main stunbreaker and condition cleansing. Can be used on targets behind you.
  • - your only AoE signet can corrupt boons on multiple enemies around the caster and steal health from them which means in larger fights it'll also act as a 2nd healing skill.

This is still a great build if you have a good team. It can apply massive pressure as long as you have a healer or someone who can peel for you. Tempests are great for keep protection up and clearing conditions. Compared to Berserker, this can't tank anything, but it's pressure is greater and it has boon corruption. Condi Berserker only has condition pressure, and more sustain. The utility and pressure together provided by Reaper is greater than what a Berserker can provide, even though it requires more team support.

By far one of the best build out there. Tried it out on my new necromancer today (never played before with Necro), 16 matches, 14 wins, 15 times top player and died only twice. Love this build!

Decent build but made somewhat obsolete by the corruptionmancer. This was great-tier build before they added all the corruption to weapon skills and buffed corrupt boon. Now with the buffs to other necro stuff and diamond skin nerfed this is just outdated and clunky and doesn't provide benefits over the aforementioned corruptionmancer.

This is previous season's "Carion Frostfire" build with mercenary amulet instead of carion. Anyway, good one.

p.s. "Another viable option is to take Relentless Pursuit with hilling Victory." how do you imagine replacing minor trait with major? =DD

Imo with all the corruption necros running around, you need CC as heal or enemy necros will eat you. Then you can run double defensive skills and take Spiteful Spirit trait.

In my opinion, a better build of than other reaper meta build.

I pick scepter+dagger over scepter+warhorn, you can stack way more condis on your enemy with this.

And you dont really need the extra swiftness of the warhorn, because you got the signet of locust.

But this necro build is one of the strongest atm I think.

Personally I use Rise!, not Flesh Wurm or Suffer!. It has saved my life many times in large group fights, thereby gaining the upper hand. With many of those horrors around, things will get confusing for your enemies. Rise! is an awesome skill. Watch those scurrying horrors eat up your foes and chuckle like a true cold necro.

My experience is that with this skill and the Mercenary Amulet you have so much survivibility, most of the times you can hold out on a point till teammates come help you finish the fight.

I suppose this is an update to the old Carrion Frostfire build.

High condi damage, boon corruption and decent sustain make sure it's still one of the best reaper builds.

Mercenary amulet gives more sustain than Carrion against power burst builds, and is definitely a good addition.

I'm wondering why "Dhuumfire" isn't prefered to "Death Perception", or at least included as an alternative.

This build is unmistakably an asset in any teamfight, it could however suffer under high burst damage in skirmishes and 1v1.

Very strong build in the new Meta that is forming after the 01/26/2016 balance patch.

Necromancer/Reaper is just really good right now. Boon corruption was already decent and now scepter autoattack has it too, chill application is off the charts, Reaper Shroud is still amazing, etc.

Amazing condition build. Doesn't necessarily have amazing burst, but it does have great sustained damage and tons of different conditions it can apply. Boon corruption, sustain, and might/vuln stacking is awesome here too.

The only things I might switch is taking Soul Reaping over curses. You can stack so much might with this build so fast that the condition damage you lose out on doesn't really mean much since you gain it back through might, plus you gain access to dhuumfire and Vital Persistence. Carrion amulet is good here too, if you want more vit. If you take dagger O/H you may want to try spectral armor/walk for another way to gain life force.
