In order to not roll backwards while attempting to run around the map, bind "About Face" in your control options to a button like B, release the right mouse button, press the assigned button and immediately afterwards

. While you are rolling, return to your desired direction by turning around 180° holding your right mouse button. Alternatively, press the assigned button again at the end of the roll, but take into consideration that the timing must be perfect, otherwise you will waste time and maybe be forced to press the assigned button again while running in the wrong direction. In addition to that, there will be a longer period of time where you see nothing in your running direction if using the alternative method. However, the alternative method is more relaxing to use if you figured out the timing. Note that "About Face" takes into consideration the direction you are looking (the camera perspective), not your character.
Another way to not roll backwards is to press the left mouse button shorty, right after that "About Face", right after that

have fairly low cooldowns (especially since they are traited), so you lose almost nothing if you spam them while running as they become quickly available when you want to kill somebody.
While playing your perma swiftness minigames, always use
