2,000 Gem Code Raffle[edit]

Hey everyone, it's October 1st, so two things: 1) Archiving all old posts, I know some are still active, if you wish to continue discussing them please copy paste it back forward or link to the archive that it's about. And 2) GEM CODE RAFFLE! At first Galaxian won, so I was like well an admin that's kinda unfair. So I tried it again and Eremko won... So I removed all the admins from the list lol and our three winners are:

  1. BlueF0xy
  2. Jjberks
  3. Sins

They were all eligible for the prize, I checked their contribs and they're not bots / spammers, so it seems all good. Congratulations to some of our new members :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 12:21, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Congratulations to the winners! Chase, have you been in contact with them and would you like me to order the codes?-- Galaxian (talk) 14:14, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Hey glaxian, I ordered the codes a while ago xP so no worries there. BlueF0xy and Jjberks have been in touch with me and are up to date. I don't know about Sins yet. So if you can try to contact them, that'd be good :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 20:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Alright :) I will see if I can get in touch with Sins tomorrow.-- Galaxian (talk) 00:14, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I have mailed BlueF0xy and Jjberks their gem codes. If Sins doesn't get back in touch with us what should we do with this last code? « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 01:27, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
I guess that you could pick another winner if Sins doesn't answer until sunday?-- Galaxian (talk) 13:09, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Couldn't we just restrict pages to being written in our namespaces? Most of these seem to be outside the namespace « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 22:26, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

I don't really understand what you mean by "restrict pages to being written in our namespaces"?-- Galaxian (talk) 14:14, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Basically, do not allow new users to create pages in the Main namespace, which this wiki does not use much. Most of the pages regular users would create would be in User:, Build:, and maybe Template: when they want to add one of those. This can be easily restricted with the Abuse Filter. I'd recommend an admin keep an eye on the abuse log to ban any account that tries to make a spam page (the entire attempted edit will be logged) and ensure that a legitimate user doesn't accidentally lose a bunch of work because they forget to put Build: at the front of the page name.
Also to further deter spammers, try switching your captcha module to Asirra from Recaptcha. Toraen (talk) 16:51, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Would you be our spam admin Toraen? O:) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 20:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Sadly, I don't have enough free time to regularly patrol spam, or be an admin in general. I just pop in here and PvX occasionally to see if anything would be helped by my input. Toraen (talk) 20:57, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Ahh, now I understand. I have added a restriction in the LocalSettings file that prevents everyone but admins to create pages in the main namespace, I think.-- Galaxian (talk) 00:15, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Next Logo Iteration[edit]

Okay from the feedback of the fire swords and the bolt swords ideas:

I personally prefer the left one and have offered feedback on it already. However I asked if it would be possible for the right one with sparks flying around. Not sure it'll work but we'll see. Any other feedback/ideas? « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 22:28, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Fiery dragon swords ftw!! :D It's also better because the tower is not red on a red background, but #2 isn't bad either. Btw Halloween is coming, do we want to add some seasonal stuff? Like a simple black/orange layer on the current red parts and the Mad Moon as logo. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 15:08, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
+1 FDS. It's like the first sword you see in the original guild wars and pretty iconic to the series. If it was crossed swords with Icy Dragon Sword it would be more badass. I like how clean the second one is but a little extra to help them stand out from the background would be nice. --Human icon.png Dantes (talk) 15:50, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Yay FDS :) Here's two more revisions. I think the left one is good enough to make a transparent version to put in place of our current logo. Hanz that's a pretty cool idea! Maybe we could do something like that. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 18:37, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Maybe "GW2 PvX wiki" should be displayed somewhere, but it's just a minor thing. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 19:48, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Left one looks really good. Btw, how much does Reyana charge for logo designs?-- Galaxian (talk) 14:14, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Zap would only make sense with all the thunders and lights effect, I really really liek the right one! --Warrior Icon Color.png Billaboong (billa-talk) 18:08, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Logo is in the last stages. Got a halloween and wintersday version as well. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 20:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Pretty cool one! Do you mean the halloween/wintersday stuff's ready as well? In that case, can you link it? :o --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 13:59, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Whoops! I didn't see this message :P There will be a darkened theme behind this so it will look better. Will probably change some of the colors around on the site for that period as well. What do you think? This made me laugh like it's mad tom or whatever playing with two swords and our logo on a candy corn background. Could be tweaked a bit still « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 01:30, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
Neat :D All hail the Mad King! --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 07:23, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Tooltips 2.0 Project[edit]

All Runes and Sigils tooltips have been implemented. I've also updated all related templates (Gw2rune, Gw2sigil, First-Weapon, Second-Weapon, Equipment, PvP Equipment). I've also updated Gw2skill template which is now becoming somehow 'unique' template for everything (people used it for skills, runes, sigils, ...) I don't wanna force anyone to fix the guides, so I made it a little foolproof, Gw2skill template is now able to autodetect what user wanted to display and delegates the parameters to correct Gw2XXX template. Check the Runes/Sigils tooltips and let me know guys, if you find anything incorrect / behaving strangely. --Eremko (talk) 21:16, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Great work mate, everything looks so good now!-- Galaxian (talk) 14:14, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Eremko you're on fire! I am actually sick right now, but what you got for the PvP amulets on your test page look good to me already :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 20:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Site Upgrades[edit]

Oct 6th, 2014

We have a new logo and a logo prepared for halloween/wintersday as well. Our favicon is now updated too. Please use Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R (mac) if your site is not updating. In addition, an extension was installed to hide namespaces (e.g. "Build:", "MetaBattle:", "User:"). This enhances readabilty of a page, it also makes it easier to see which tab goes to where when looking at the top of your browser. Some more graphical changes / extensions might be coming this month :) Hopefully we'll be able to embed youtube videos on our pages soon! « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 14:13, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Oct 7th, 2014

Table of Contents link box has been moved to the right, it is called manually with __TOC__ need to do this on all build pages so it is flush with the rating box. The numbers inside the table of contents have also been removed. Let me know if these changes broke anything (They should not have). « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 23:24, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Server issues?[edit]

Since yesterday, pages take ages to load, any info on that? :/ --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 13:01, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Gj looks like it's fix'd :P --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 14:16, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
Just the usual, host threatening to shutdown the server due to attacks coming from it so I spent time on trying to fix that just to get an email from them 24h later that they forgot to update a driver or something. Maybe not that usual after all :/-- Galaxian (talk) 16:16, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Just a quick update, added a donation button to the sidebar in hope of increasing site revenues. We are in negative revenue atm with just the header ad so instead of adding additional ads I decided to try out the donation system as some of you suggested from the very first beginning.-- Galaxian (talk) 16:46, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Hmm maybe we should try joining Curse. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 17:01, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
The problem with Gamepedia is that we be using their servers and therefore their rules will apply, which I really don't want... Second problem is that there will be additional 4 ads on the website if we join them, thats how they make money. We could achieve the same result by displaying 5 ads on one page which I am trying to avoid :/-- Galaxian (talk) 18:00, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
How many visitors do we get a day? We could write something at the top like wikipedia does "If every visitor donated $X we'd meet our hosting requirements in Y time" where x is usually a small number like 3 dollars and Y is like a small timeframe like 3 hours. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 17:40, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
About 5k/day, lets see how the small donation button works first before we decide if anything else is required :) -- Galaxian (talk) 18:00, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
It will be, people are stingy. Curse are jews, but wikia is worse - the problem with both as hosting options is the mandatory site reskin. Curse forces you into a custom "Hydra" skin (to maximize their ad space and add useless facebook/twitter links) regardless of layout concerns. They'll also delay any updates to custom extensions (like voting, for example) because it has to go through them first and they usually try it on a test wiki before pushing it live... which is nice for QA purposes, but bad for fast updates. They're stable hosts, but don't trust anything they say - they lied to us about everything when we took PvX there years ago.
But yes, PvX attempted to subsist on donations and just went further into the red every month. A short-lived sponsorship by Razer didn't go anywhere, so we had to find a host fairly fast to stop losing our own money. Assume the worst; donations probably won't help much, so if you start looking for a host now maybe you can find one better than curse or wikia. ZAM, perhaps? Not sure what their stance is on wikis. -Auron 06:03, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
There is always a catch if you join such networks, may I ask if you have control over the domain/server/db or did you transfer everything to Curse? I will be testing out the donation button this week, if that doesn't work out I will try to add another ad inside the categories like on PvXwiki but will need to figure out a way to do that.-- Galaxian (talk) 12:52, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Hello guys, I'm officially retired from GW2, wich means I won't spend more than a couple of hours per week playing it. This mean I won't be updated on the news and since I'm getting big projects on my real life I won't spend as much time on the computer as I use to do. That's why I won't be able to be the guide admin here, I currently have a guide unfinished wich I'll try to finish but I really have few time to spend here. I hope Metabattle will get every day more attention from the community, keep the good work up! --Warrior Icon Color.png Billaboong (billa-talk) 17:34, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

:( Well, ty for contributing and good luck. I hope Anet brings you back one day ^^ --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 18:40, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Alright mate, thanks for everything that you have done here :( -- Galaxian (talk) 00:01, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Build Vetting Policy[edit]

I've started a Build Vetting Draft for our Policy page and I really need some others to look at it. Feel free to edit it as well. --Human icon.png Dantes (talk) 16:33, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Feel free to add it to Policy. I will be working on the policy sections again and we should all review the sections before making them official.-- Galaxian (talk) 18:31, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

New level?[edit]

The site has been growing a lot for the past few weeks and we are almost at #1 position for the main GW2 search phrases on Google. The website receives 4-6k visitors/day and I would like to hear what you think about focusing on advertising the website and spreading the word via websites and in game for a few weeks to see if I can increase the traffic even more? We could for example:

  • Refer people to metabattle on the official forums whenever they are asking for builds.
  • We could ask Youtubers to upload a link to the website if they are showing of a build or something.
  • We could ask guild/server websites to add a link to metabattle.
  • We could refer people to metabattle in game.

We are doing all of this right now but what if we focused more on that and went into a mass marketing phase?-- Galaxian (talk) 18:27, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Making some guild sites link to us would be a good start - they benefit from the builds and we get a bit more traffic.
Youtubers and streamers are a harder task, because nobody can guarantee that the build they are linking to won't change. It can be both good (their build link stays up to date) and bad (their personal preferences might differ from the "core" build). Convincing them that they should include a link to the site in their description as a "side-note" even if they don't use our build links has a higher chance IMO - maybe our biggest reason could be that we do the same, as we are already putting linkts on build pages.
Official forum, we can try lurking there more. On reddit we are in a pretty good situation, most of the time if i see a topic about someone asking for builds I go to see if i can help, there are already multiple replies with links to our builds :P
And yeah even in-game if i see someone running a P/P thief I'm directing the guy here ASAP - the only issue I've found so far is: they often just come in and take a look at the meta builds and then say for example "lol they only have 1/ea pvp build for each class" - yeah 1 labeled as meta and 40+ overall, but people draw conclusions too fast. Could we add a bar similar to the "Builds By Profession" method to the Meta/great/etc sections that let you jump over to the other sections? Like under Meta you'd have a bar with options to visit the Great/Good/All sections. So we have to hold their hands a bit more. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 19:08, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
Oh yeah and I've tried to get in touch with BLu but no replies so far. Will try other shoutcasters as well. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 19:11, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
Hanz you make an excellent point. I will work this weekend on making it more "linky" for people to get to the places they might need to based on where they are. I was hoping to finish up my "concise" summary templates too so we can show builds in their entirety using just two small boxes and they can scroll down for more information. Makes it easier for those that alt+tab to check and fix their builds. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 19:14, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Last modified[edit]

There are some builds, mostly the PvE ones that barely change between balance patches. This means weeks, even months can pass without the need to change anything on a build. But for some people these builds can seem abandoned. How about we remove it from the templates and instead have something on the main page of the site like "Builds are up to date as of xy" - we can update the date every week or day for example. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 10:31, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

I forgot about this post the other day :/ Do we stick with this suggestion or does someone have a better idea?-- Galaxian (talk) 02:48, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
I don't think any pve builds are updated. If they google and find others, it's not going to really matter. Ideally we should get the big pve writers to work on guides here, and then it really won't matter I think « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 15:03, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
It feels like the big PvE writers aren't interested in a GW2 PvX wiki and they prefer to have builds/guides on their own guild website, I might however be wrong. Back to the idea, what about just setting a default value such as "Today"? Also, sorry for being inactive the last few weeks, I had 2 examinations that I had to prepare for this week, they are however finished now :) I would also like to point out that we received our first donation today, I have no idea who the user is but a big thanks to him! I will be experimenting with new ad positions if I figure out how to fix the placement for them over the coming days...-- Galaxian (talk) 17:17, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
BTW, we need a donation page where the donator is redirected after a donation, any ideas on how this page should look like?-- Galaxian (talk) 17:30, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
We are in a harder position than PvX, because at that time there were no streamers and barely any youtubers who could give you builds. And some of them think they might lose viewers if they can just come here for the builds, I guess. But there are streamers who are totally fine with us and sometimes send people here, metabattle often gets linked in stream chat too by viewers. Plus we list streamers and guides on pages so we're doing more good than harm for them :P But with time it might change and maybe we'll recieve more help from these players. Another problem is most people don't get the concept of this site, they don't even think about contributing when they feel like something needs to be adjusted. But I wouldn't complain about traffic, i think it's pretty good and it's getting better :P --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 08:31, 1 November 2014 (UTC)

Halloween style[edit]

Halloween Theme[edit]

Is up and running. What do you think? « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 16:16, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

3spooky5me, Looks pretty great.--Human icon.png Dantes (talk) 16:54, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Main page shows all builds now[edit]

I apologize for the 100 or so edits just cluttering the recent changes page, but our new start page is fucking rad. We're using an extension to populate all the categories on the main page. This extension can take up to 24 hours to add new builds on the front page. A small sacrifice, and probably capable of manual refresh if need be. The cool thing is we can easily see the testing / trial builds in all categories from the same page. Also it should really open up the exploration for new users on the site. Spent about 10 hours working on this. Brain = fried. Enjoy! « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 00:06, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Forgot to mention I made a reddit post announcing the change to the public as well. In case there is feedback we can read up on later. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 00:08, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
Great work, both you and Hanz, it looks great! Sorry for being inactive over the past weeks but the discrete mathematics course is killing me -.- -- Galaxian (talk) 00:11, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
This is pure awesomeness. Gj Chase! :D --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 08:19, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
Hey guys, had some time to play PvP again, trying to improve some less popular build (everyone knoes who to paly the metas), saw the new mainpage and it's awesome! Really great job. --Warrior Icon Color.png Billaboong (billa-talk) 19:46, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

At least one user having trouble registering[edit]

hey guys. Read this today "Saw your post decided to register and try to help, but ... I haven't been able to validate my email address. Tried last night. Resent this afternoon. Still nothing anywhere spam, trash or inbox." I'm in canada today and posting this from a mobile. Plus i dont think i have access to the admin email anyways. But could someone figure out what the problem might be? « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 20:40, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

I've noticed some website registrations get silently removed, possibly hitting server-level spam filters. Using an email address from a different provider has always cleared this up for me (hotmail vs gmail). Angela Ranna (talk) 23:07, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Trial and Testing are too similar[edit]

I motion to change the "Trial" category to something like "First/Rough Draft" or "Abstract" to indicate that it is not fully written out/fleshed yet and is totally up for changes. Testing is legit, because it's like putting an abstract build to the test. But sometimes I read Trial and I'm like... isn't that another word for testing? Which is which? xP « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 04:08, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

I'd go with "Drafting" if you're going to rename it. "Abstract" is not quite the right word for what goes on in the current Trial stage. Toraen (talk) 13:35, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
Aww, I really liked the idea of "Build Abstract" like it was some classy PhD thing or something haha -- give out school courses for Theorycrafting 101 and all that jazz xP Drafting works too of course. So our set up would be: Drafting > Testing (Voting) > Categorize (Great, Good, Trash, etc). How do we work out "Meta" in this process? « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 14:08, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
Meta = most common build(s) on a given profession. It must first become popular before recieving this title, not the other way around as some redditors think :P --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 14:39, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

This works now. Let's get the guide pages updated with youtube videos. As always, if you find any mistakes let me know :) Example page. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 16:16, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

New Sitewide Look[edit]

Hey some quick updates:

  1. Site now has a more "open" / modern look -- there are fewer borders and a greater use of transparencies
  2. The site uses GW2 fonts now (I found cronos for free online, but eason, title font, i'm not sure the copy right about that -- both are coming from gw2 official wiki server)
  3. Some JQuery randomly started working finally -- So you can visit the talk page of the community portal directly from the side nav now :)

More to come over time « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 21:16, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Small change -- Made talk pages, hopefully, easier to follow with "backgrounds" for comments and a left border to help track the parent. Not sure if this will actually help the veterans, but might be easier for those transitioning from a reddit experience. Let me know if you have any problems or concerns :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 22:13, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

In a lot of articles we got into the bad habit of formatting with extra return carriages. If you see a gap larger than one open return carriage, please reduce it to just one.

What we have on many pages:

Example of no spacing between headers:
===Trait Variants===
There are three basic trait spreads:
# The Modern build provides extra damage against groups that have high boon uptime (guild groups).
# The Hybrid build provides more base power and armor than the Modern build but loses damage modifiers based on boons. This build is generally better against PUG or militia zergs that have below-average boon uptime.

Example of too much spacing between headers:
==Food & Consumables==
* {{gw2skill|Bowl of Lemongrass Poultry Soup}} is the de facto defensive food to take.

* Adrenaline is your life-blood. It increases your health regen.

What we actually want:

The Shout Frontline Warrior provides excellent '''group support''' and self-sustain while providing excellent '''control and damage'''. If many warriors run this build in a zerg each will cleanse conditions and heal each other with shouts. Additionally, the warhorn converts conditions into helpful boons and the hammer will control enemy players lacking stability.

This is something I wanted to fix a long time ago. We can finally just write our guides like normal xP « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 02:50, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Note, if you see that is just a comment. It should not count as a carriage return. (In my opinion we should get rid of these too while we're at it. The headers should speak for themselves xP) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 02:51, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Congrats to NA for WTS[edit]

But on another note, it made me think -- why don't we start showing the PvP game scheduels on our page or at least linking to thes "tourneys" They could be pve dungeon tourneys, gvgs, or pvp weeklies or big tournies like this. Would be good advertisement I think « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 14:24, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Hmmm, I like this idea. Are there any websites where you can find the PvP schedules?-- Galaxian (talk) 16:57, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
Eu will rise again! (After the cele nerf) :P You can find the schedules here: - maybe we could make a deal, we display upcoming tournaments and they add the site to their stream description (BLU's and Jebro's) Unrelated: Chase I reverted your revert on the warrior build :P (Poison can be a counter, however you have many many ways to get rid of it) --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 18:15, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
Hmm I mean I know it helps, but poison on it's own isn't going to kill that build lmao. I figured a counter would include something with more pressure than just poison xP I'll check the wording to see if it can be expanded. Yea can you get in touch with blu/jebro on that? It would be awesome :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 22:09, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
I shoudl also be able to write a script that automatically updates the main page with a link to a live broadcast if they can communicate with me that it's on schedule etc « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 22:09, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Quick status update[edit]

Hey, just a quick update, Metabattle has grown to 11k daily visits with 50-100 visitors online at all times :) Also, sorry for being inactive, school is killing me but I am online every hour or so in case something goes wrong and needs administration. Btw, the winterdays theme looks amazing :)-- Galaxian (talk) 17:50, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

PvE Guides[edit]

A serious rehaul is in order. Here are my suggestions:

  • Each profession should have only one "meta" build page.
  • Each profession's build page will likely have multiple relevant trait setups and need to be dealt with accordingly. Their usage will differ in ways. Example: Max DPS warrior for parties with one warrior vs three warriors. Max DPS warrior given lack of might stacks (phalanx).
  • Each profession's build page should offer "defensive"/"noob" variants to help them get on their feet in the meta. Example: 66002 thief can change to 56030 to get much more dodges but maintain very good dps (and arguably higher solo dps).
  • Necromancer will have to drop out of the "meta" tag and fall down to "good". Not our fault ANet doesn't give them love. Given the opportunity of sinister and possible party comps that don't focus heavily on conditions, a necro might be viable. But I doubt it, and unless someone is willing to put in the work to explain to our viewers when and where specifically a necro can be viable, we'll leave it in the "good" category (sorry necro lovers!)
  • Rotations templates. I'll try to work on this best I can when I get back from my vacation, but this will be a very big plus for those guides such as DEKeyz' ele, GS/Axe rotation on warrior, thief rotations above 50% from the side below 25%, etc.
  • Should get in touch with the big names in PvE. Namely DnT which I believe has probably the most popular pve guides currently on youtube. If they are willing to use our framework for writing builds, that would be awesome (given that they understand grammar can be changed by the community and that hard numbers/logic in the talk pages can influence some wordings on the front page).
  • Regardless, we'll want to start using a lot more content on our pages. There are many solo/speedrun videos of the builds in action, and players do learn from those. It also helps them learn "tricks" that they can do in certain dungeons which is sometimes easier than writing out many paragraphs.

I'll be touring Eurasia for over a month probably, so please don't expect anything from me soon. I just want to put this on the table and get your own thoughts and ideas collaborated before I left. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 22:32, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Our new voting system is hardly finished, but I want to update you on both the way I'm planning that will work and what to do from there.

Voting System:

  • Requires the build's scope to be defined. It has to have a clear purpose. Bonus points for explaining the audience that would use it.
  • Votes based on this definition are great. Votes that are based on both the scope and the "overall" mechanics of the gametype will be better weighted.
  • Votes require a comment. Objective and factual is better weighted. Opinions like "I don't like it" or "it's awkward" are less weighted. Something like "It's buggy" can be gray middle-ground.
  • Admins should be able to reset votes given that it's gone to the trash and been re-opened or perhaps trying to move it from great to trash or whatever. Basically we need to reset if we want to re-grade it.

I propose that we have a weekly / 2-week rotation for voting. A build should have a set amount of time required in "theory"/"drafting" and a build should remain in testing for a set amount of time. Sadly we have few "testers" and heck to be honest a lot of the builds we've already tried and tested in our many hours of play. What we don't have is a lot of people voting even with the simple system that we have. I would say perhaps we can set a day of the week where we email all our "testers" and ask them to vote and comment on the build (once we have the new system up and running).

Again, curious of your thoughts/ideas. Trying to spark some discussions! « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 17:53, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

I've been thinking about making a guild on both regions as "Metabattle test krewe" or something. So people could join, theorycraft and the guild info would tell them if there's anything new to try out and rate. No representation required. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 18:38, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
That's a neat idea! Not sure how many will be willing to give up a guild slot, but I'm sure there might be a few at least « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 22:32, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
Sounds good, the guild will however be hard to setup I think but it's worth a shot.
Not the easiest thing to pull off at the beginning but can snowball into a bigger guild. People like guilds :P --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 08:58, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

First hand to Main-hand[edit]

I think the First/Second hand in the weapon part should be changed to Main-hand and Off-hand. If I changed it here and here, and then quickly go over 100+ build pages, that should work, right? --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 09:28, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Galaxian or I might be able to install a bot that does all that very quickly. I'll see if I get a chance today, but so far it's been a pretty busy vacation xP « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 06:44, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Sounds like a better option :P But at this point even that's more exciting than gift wrapping and attending family meetings :D --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 08:18, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Cleaning up[edit]

Due to a recent engineer topic on the official forum regarding the Cele rifle build, some variants were removed. I'll go over the PvP builds and remove every variant that's not as viable/popular as the main build to prevent further flame wars (mostly runes and traits). People love overrect a bit, so let's not give them any reason to do so. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 08:48, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Feel free to do whatever you think is right :) Btw, don't take the VeeWee guy for granted.-- Galaxian (talk) 14:32, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
She makes some valid points tho :P But some people just don't get that if the variant was better than the main build, it would be main bar'd. We'll have to be more serious about what we suggest as customization options I guess. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 19:07, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

From Front Page Talk[edit]

Activity Guides[edit]

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but would a guide for the different activities be something you would like to see? --LunarN (talk) 09:46, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

I think it would be nice for the PvE guide section :P I'm thinking about adding JP guides (in form of simple redirects to youtube vids). But idk how popular minigames are. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 12:27, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

New Guide Category - Solo Play?[edit]

I've been chatting with a few people, and we've been wondering, is there any chance of adding a PvE Solo category? That is, one for people who wander the world (perhaps while leveling) in order to do random things without being the assumption of being part of a party. Would it be possible to add such a category? Thanks! --Ghostwheel (talk) 22:00, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

That would fit the description of General PvE « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 06:39, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
