Welcome to MetaBattle[edit]

Hey Jerem!

First Steps:

  • Be sure to check out the tutorial. Submitting the first edit/create with any external links results in an automatic ban. Instructions are in the tutorial under "creating an article").
  • Sign your comments on Discussion pages with 4 tildes ("~~~~") or use the "signature" button found on the toolbar. It will automatically convert this into a timestamp with your name. (You can indent paragraphs/replies with the ":" colon character).
  • If you have any questions feel free to respond here or add a new topic on the community portal.
  • All users are encouraged to submit valid ratings for builds in testing, good, great, and meta.

Common Mistakes:

  • Try to make a build that has purpose. Explain it's specific purpose and why it's better than other builds. If it's not, re-consider whether it should be written.
  • Make sure the build you want to write is significantly different than other builds already posted. Otherwise leave a comment with the proposed changes on the already existing build's page!

Thanks for joining and welcome to the MetaBattle team!

Dungeon Category[edit]

Hey Jerem :)

Hope everything is working out for you here on MetaBattle. Any word on the admin position(s)?

Also we were wondering on splitting build pages for the same profession or keeping them in the same guide. At what point do you think builds should be in the same page or separate?

If it's role wise (ele examples: staff dps, s/f might stack, lightning hammer 04550 dps), then how should we tackle a page like the guardian's (it includes: balanced dps with utility, max dps, max large-hitbox (scepter) dps builds). Right now we have three elementalist build pages and only one guardian build page.

A great place for each build would probably be to highlight their key role and how they fit into a party. Let me know if you need anything else! I can also be contacted on skype which you can find on the admins page :) « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 12:33, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Ranger S/A LB Spotter: Good or Great build?[edit]

We recently had a discussion about the rating of said build and diddn't come to a conclusion. I am of the opinion that the ranger can be a great addition to a party because of it's great offensive buffing capabilities, and decent damage while having a few nice defensive capabilities like healing spring. Thus I think it is justified to give that build a great rating just like the engi has. Right now it is, with it's good rating, on the same level as a necromancer and the mesmer which just isn't true. Or what do you think? Fredor (talk) 07:55, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

What do you mean? It is already listed as great build on the home page. Jerem 10:12, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
Oh :D then it must have been updated sometime after the discussion when I was ill. Sorry, forget that I asked ^^ Fredor (talk) 10:18, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
It was always under the Great tab unless something changed while I was at school. Abe (talk) 14:59, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
Was under good a week ago Fredor (talk) 15:30, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
It got changed when I became Admin :) Jerem 16:02, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Opinion on Dagger/X?[edit]

Hi, there is an ongoing debate about the main choices for the Dagger/X necro build, could you look into that later? :P --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 14:34, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Yo, I'll look at it after work, but I must say I'm pretty new to necromancer so I will have to ask a friend who mains necro -- Jerem 15:30, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
kk. Btw I was wondering, considering how useless necs are in speedclears, are there even main necros in SC/DnT or any of the top dungeon guilds? I'd guess there are some who started on nec and still use it sometimes, but most of the time they play something more hardcore while they are secretly praying to Karl for a good specialization that will save the profession. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 17:32, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
There's main necromancer in Retaliate (rT), but no one in SC / DnT mains a necromancer. Jerem 17:39, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Well I took the rotation from Spoj and the build is the same at dnt and rt. Dunno do you have someone who loves calculating stuff? :D Fredor (talk) 18:27, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Added what Spoj told me in the discussion -- Jerem 20:34, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

There is also a small question (thanks to Fredor) on what to do with the DS Shredder build (in general section) and whether it should be included in the dungeon category or if some parts should be added as a variant to the current necro dungeon build « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 17:07, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

I have really no idea, I should see with Spoj I suppose when I see him online. -- Jerem 14:10, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
You might also want to ask him if the default rotation of the dagger/x build is correct now. I kinda improvised that based on what he said last time. Fredor (talk) 14:36, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
A few stuff other problemscame up:
  • As asked I changed the rotation of the DS Shredder to the one provided by Spoj. You still might want to look at the equippement.
  • We are discussing at the Dagger/x build if Path of midnight is really worth it because of the cooldown of ds.
  • The Ranger - S/A LB Spotter might also need a few trait variants since Companion's Might isn't really worth it with 3 points in nature magic. Fredor (talk) 09:41, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Fashion Collector[edit]

Renown, eh? xP « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 23:38, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

I was talking to Fredor about fixing up the consumables section in our dungeon guide. I wanted both of you to look over the template I've got here and offer up opinions on what needs to be changed. I just used whatever the wiki or other guides said about potions, so they might actually be wrong, you guys should double check that. In general I would prefer to see no more than 3 potions recommended for any single area. Ideally just one would be best and we can add footnotes below explaining the choices. For the consumables section I'm not sure if I linked the correct one's either so please double-check those locations on the wiki links. Also any other ideas you guys might have, let me know! « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 13:10, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

  • Do you want to add all of these to the dungeon guides? Might be a bit extensive. What about adding the compact version to the builds and link there to a more complete guide?
  • About the data we might want to double check these:
    1. TA: The potion of slaying scarlets armies should work in all three paths
    2. HotW: There are only two svanir bosses in all explorable paths. Thus I would make the icebrood potion the main one.
    3. Swampland: Bloomhunger triggers on scarlet potions? Fredor (talk) 13:28, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
Sharpening stones are useless for AC where you hit power cap with practically every single profession, you should use maintenance oils instead for the precision, for most classes the best option is to use the ones that give you +100 precision and something else. (10% boon duration for eles) Another thing to add is that power food is once again useless for AC and that eles should be using precision anyways due to low crit chance without signet of fire since the guide states berserker's armor and not assassin's. Seaweed salad is also a bit niche since most of your burst comes from Ice Bow, and since you are standing still while casting it you don't get the 10% modifier. Abe (talk) 14:00, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
Good that nearly all of our dungeon builds recommend sharpening stones as utility buff in ac Fredor (talk) 14:20, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
So these templates are like a "substitute" so the precision thing in AC for all classes is a good change. If there are profession specific differences we can always "substitute" the text from the template and change it for small customizations. Also I had no clue there was even a maintenance oil that gave boon duration. That sounds awesome! « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 15:13, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
I think I made those corrections for you Fredor « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 15:58, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
Dulfy guides say bloomhunger potion thing, wethospu's thread on the official forums says nothing works on bloomhuner in the fractal thread he links there. Idk what to do here « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 16:12, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

New Specs and how variants should be displayed[edit]

Name of "Specialization" might be "Traits" or "Build Skills", don't know that part yet until the patch hits. Regardless, I'll be able to change all the headers with a bot, so don't worry about that! Here is a solid example for mesmer full DPS build:

Obviously my variants are totally not correct, they are just an example of how they should be formatted now. As opposed to listing them all at the bottom. If there is a tree-line spec change you should list that variant at the summary section. For instance you could write: "Change Illusions to Chronomancer for extended duration fights" or something and then list the chronomancer skill tree below the illusions one. « Chase ♥ ♥ ♥ » 14:36, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Hybrid mesmer build[edit]

I added a new mesmer build for dungeons (Mesmer - dungeon hybrid) based on the discussion in the forum ([1]). Please give your opinion. Also, I'm new to metabattle, why doesn't the build appear in the main page?

Ljusa Dunkel (talk) 17:35, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

I didn't add any condition build yet because all that matters atm in optimized group is bursting boss quickly and conditions won't help that much with bursting. However for solo / low manning, it's really good. I still have to do some tests tho so we'll see how it will end
Jerem 17:48, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
On a side note, it takes a couple hours for new builds to show up on the main page. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 17:55, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Your opinion is kinda needed here:

Fredor (talk) 14:21, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

A user also made a few changes to the thief d/d build, which might need a checkup Fredor (talk) 21:16, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Hey I'll take a look. Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy lately Jerem 10:51, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
Np. The Necromancer build is currently discussed on Scootts page Fredor (talk) 11:30, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Engi and ranger meta[edit]

Your decision to upgrade the two builds to meta is questioned in reddit right now. Fredor (talk) 07:30, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Oh, didnt see this yet, thanks for linking it! I wrote an answer there right now, cause Jerem changed this after I asked him to do so. As I wrote on reddit, both classes are completely viable for normal dungeonruns and that's what metabattle is for imo. People should stop judging engineers and rangers and I hope we can help a bit with this. Thor (talk) 08:38, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
Getting this seen was my intent ;) Fredor (talk) 10:12, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
It's a good idea, I think too many peole live in the past when it comes to judging classes, this will certainly influence how people look at ranger/engi. Rip nec tho. --Necromancer Icon Color.pngHanz(talk) 13:45, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Help Deleting Page[edit]

Hey, can I have help deleting this build i the Raids section? Chronomancer - Mimic Tank; I am the owner and only contributor. I was attempting to give help to the community by getting the chrono build up, but someone recently posted a more complete build. Also, I have no interest to further the build or play raids.
