Focused on: Strike damage

Designed for: Raids

Difficulty:
TBD
This build was last updated on June 28, 2022 and is up to date for the March 19, 2024 patch.

Overview

A power DPS Chronomancer build for raids. This build deals very high burst and sustained damage against single targets. In addition it has very good CC, utility, and personal defense, and is capable of generating its own Might Might, Fury Fury, Quickness Quickness, and Alacrity Alacrity.

Be aware that this build requires high uptime of Slow Slow on your target - you contribute some slow of your own but need external help to reach very high uptime.

This build and its gear have been updated to the 28th July 2022 patch.

Weapon Variants

  • Pistol: can replace focus when there are too many adds, since the Phantasmal Warden from focus attacks random targets in range.

Skill Variants

  • Phantasmal Defender instead of Phantasmal Disenchanter if your target has more boons than can be removed.
  • Time Warp instead of Gravity Well for better Slow Slow (and Quickness Quickness) uptime.
  • Signet of Humility if extra CC is required. Be aware of the long cooldown.

Specializations

Specialization Variants

  • Time Catches Up extremely situational, if the boss already has 100% Slow Slow uptime.
  • Improved Alacrity on encounters where Slow Slow uptime is too low (~30% or less).

Usage

The goal of the rotation is to get as many casts of your phantasm summons as possible, filling downtime with autoattack chains and Blurred Frenzy. In order to do this you can make clever use of Signet of the Ether and Continuum Split, which when used together can effectively allow you to reset your phantasm cooldowns 3 times in short succession. This is achieved by casting Signet of the Ether during Continuum Split, which will give you refreshed phantasm cooldowns for the duration of your continuum split, and leaving Signet of the Ether off cooldown once your continuum split ends.

Opening burst

Start on Sword/Focus.

  1. Phantasmal Warden
  2. Mirror Images
  3. Weapon swap Weapon swap
  4. Phantasmal Swordsman - enter Continuum Split during the cast of this skill.
  5. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  6. Signet of the Ether
  7. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  8. Phantasmal Swordsman
  9. Mantra of Pain x2
  10. Illusionary Leap
  11. Blurred Frenzy - Continuum Split should end during this cast
  12. Phantasmal Swordsman
  13. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  14. Signet of the Ether
  15. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  16. Phantasmal Swordsman
  17. Gravity Well
  18. Weapon swap Weapon swap
  19. Proceed to Loop rotation

Loop

  1. Phantasmal Warden
  2. Blurred Frenzy
  3. Auto attack until Blurred Frenzy is available
  4. Blurred Frenzy
  5. Weapon swap Weapon swap
  6. Phantasmal Swordsman
  7. Auto attack until Phantasmal Disenchanter is available
  8. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  9. Blurred Frenzy
  10. Mirror Images
  11. Auto attack until Phantasmal Swordsman is available
  12. Phantasmal Swordsman
  13. Signet of the Ether
  14. Phantasmal Swordsman
  15. Weapon swap Weapon swap
  16. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  17. Repeat from step 1

Second Continuum Split

On the loop before Continuum Split becomes available again, skip steps 10 and 16 and on the next loop:

  1. Phantasmal Warden
  2. Blurred Frenzy - enter Continuum Split during the cast of this skill.
  3. Mirror Images
  4. Mantra of Pain
  5. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  6. Gravity Well + Split Second during cast (shattering helps prevent a bug with Chronophantasma)
  7. Continuum Split should end during here
  8. Mirror Images
  9. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  10. Blurred Frenzy
  11. Gravity Well + Time Sink during cast (shattering helps prevent a bug with Chronophantasma)
  12. When Weapon swap Weapon swap is available, resume the loop from step 5 - you may need to wait on sword slightly longer for Signet of the Ether to come off cooldown.

Video Example

Notes

  • Fill gaps in between skills listed in the rotation with auto-attack chains.
  • Make sure not to interrupt your autoattack chain as the damage from it is heavily loaded into the final strike, Mind Spike.
  • Use Split Second whenever you have 3 clones up. If you have 3 clones up and Split Second is on cooldown, you can shatter them with Rewinder instead.
  • Save clones to shatter with Time Sink if you will need to CC in the immediate future.
  • You can use Temporal CurtainInto the Void to pull adds onto the boss if needed.
  • Mantra of Pain should be cast as soon as there is a charge available.

Recent weapon buffs have made power chrono viable once more, but it's harder, easier to interrupt and deals less damage than virtuoso, so very difficult to recommend to anyone but chrono fans.

Compared to power virtuoso, this build is much much harder to play, with a slightly higher (but delayed) burst, but lower sustained dps. This makes power chronomancer worse pretty much everywhere. The only advantage of this build is Continuum Split, making chronomancer pull ahead on fights that end shortly after CS.

A strong, self-sufficient power DPS, but has worse burst than most power classes thanks to the "delayed burst" nature of its phantasms, and suffers on any fight where you have to switch targets.

Finally a good DPS build for Chrono/Mesmers.

This is a great power DPS build for Chrono, really good CC, strong burst, and really good damage output thats consistent. 9/10
