This build provides high Single Target Damage while still providing excellent Condition Cleanse, Survivability and Mobility, its high risk high reward play style is what separates the good thief’s from the bad, assessing your situation and making sure you know when to dodge or how to react to an incoming attack is the key difference in this. Takes inspiration from it's PvP counterpart

Equipment

All Stats are fully Berserker's however it is possible to trade out to Valkyrie or Marauder's in either Armor or Trinkets depending on your personal preference.

  • It is advised to all new Thief players that starting with a full Berserker's set is highly recommended. This is mainly due to the fact that learning about other sources of defenses such as dodging, positioning and stealth is a key part of what makes a good thief good, starting with a more tankier option like a Valkyrie variation will diminish this more.
  • Valkyrie armor increase your health by 3,000 where as Trinkets increase it by 1,000.

Pretty standard setup, seems good to go. Effective as always, makes good use of thief's toolkit to burst and stick to targets, while having excellent disengage.

Still Viable but got hit very hard by recent range changes to Swipe. Core S/D is a better bet for Thief roaming at the moment.

I used to play Daredevil in WvW before resigning myself to other classes, because let's be brutally honest: this build is only great if you are in the top 10% of players, and I imagine if you're looking here, then you like me are not in the top 10% players or anywhere close. You'll need to cover a lot of weaknesses - Thief is Thief after all so it doesn't have much in the way of health or sustain or condition cleanse and relies on evasion more than sustain. It's vastly better in PvP, but in WvW where the environment is less controlled and more chaotic, this build is a ripe target for a more sustainable build that also deals moderate burst damage with decent mobility such as a Warrior, Holosmith, Soulbeast, Herald, or Mirage. Mess the burst, you die. Get hit by a CC, you die. While it does have uncontested mobility - I would say that means much less in WvW than it does in PvP. Still, when it works, it works. It's just that for WvW, I feel that Daredevil falls just a little bit short of the sustainability required in a more chaotic and unpredictable environment than PvP, since this is pretty much the sPvP build ported to WvW.

Even before this post I used d/p for wvw because on how good to is and you can troll those enemy deadeyes with pistol 4 because they try and stealth or evade but you stop them dead and everything from the pvp build applies

I have and always will love this type of build. This is just what a thief does. Strike from the shadows. I run this with some variants depending on the situation but this is a great starting point for new someone new to a thief.
