Focused on: Direct Damage.

Designed for:

A power DPS build for Holosmith. This build has a very simple rotation consisting of autoattacking and spamming toolbelt skills to proc . Like its rifle-and-kits counterpart Holosmith - Power DPS, it has good damage, CC, and Vulnerability Vulnerability application. This makes it a good build for beginning fractal or raid players.
While this build deals good damage on its own, it excels when there are lots of conditions on the boss for . A dedicated healer in the party will also help maintain this build's bonus after it deals damage to itself with .
As this build deals around 10% less damage than Holosmith - Power DPS, dedicated fractal or raid players will want to eventually graduate to the rifle build. However this build generates a fair amount of personal Quickness Quickness, which can be worth it in encounters that force you to move out of your Chronomancer's boon sharing range.

Weapon Variants

  • You can run Shield instead of pistol for more CC.

Skill Variants

Healing Skills
  • provides a massive amount of healing if you can predict damage spikes (e.g. specific mechanics in raids). It also provides CC with .
Utility Skills
Swapping out your utility skills is a large DPS loss and should only be considered as a last ditch option.
  • can be useful in uncoordinated groups for the protection and pull.
  • if you don't trust your healer to keep you alive or stunbreak you in high pressure fights.

The logic behind this rotation is to maximize your Photon Forge and uptime. First you build heat in Photon Forge with , , and autoattack chains. After you overheat, you use your highest damage skills together with , then fill with sword skills. Rinse and repeat when Photon Forge is available again.

This site is actually terrible, kit holo or bust

Although the Rifle Build is superior DPS-wise, I believe this is the best build for Holosmith for Power DPS. The forgiving rotation and ease of use makes up for the slight loss in DPS. I wouldn't say that either build is better than the other because in the end, they both have their own strengths and weaknesses.

This build deals decent DPS but pretty much just a worse version of the main build. I would only recommend this build to extremely new players as a jumping-off point into dungeons and fractals -- eventually you will want to learn the rifle build, which has significantly better burst damage and utility.

I tried this build and it worked great for me (the eternal noob). Nice damage. Forgiving. Able to predictably contribute DPS, some crowd control and intelligently interdict at some critical moments when my team was struggling. Still in the memorization and "What the heck is a <thingie>" stage so things should get even better. It was fun and inspires me to study and research.

A build that won't get you laughed out of raid squads or fractals, and one that is genuinely enjoyable. This build serves as a useful stepping stone for those who want to get into engineer but are intimidated by the memorization that is required.

A second great alternative not only as a power variant, but as an easier build to get their hand's wet into playing Engineer, still recommended to play the Rifle Version if one looks for improvements, but this build is a great way to start, or have less stress in your rotations.

A very viable build option for those that struggle with the Rifle/Kits build. Dps is on par and it still has utility so its not a selfish dps build either. Rifle still does a bit better burst and cc but this build can hold its on and just might surpass the now Power Holo meta!!
