Overview

Condition Renegade is arguably the most powerful solo build in the game, boasting the highest sustain in the game alongside extremely high DPS, defense, and a jack-of-all-trades toolkit that allows for a level of versatility only a handful of other builds can mimic.

Weapon Variants

  • Offhand Sword - a power weapon but offers an extremely powerful skill in
  • Staff - only useful as a reliable CC and block weapon

Skill Variants

Revenant in general is a class with a large toolkit. Part of learning the class is learning which tools to use for which situation. Review the options below:

  • - Provides very high sustain when combined with ; also the highest condi DPS option
  • - provides very high vuln application, sustain, and CC; our bread and butter on Renegade
  • - Provides condi clear, projectile hate, and very high healing.
  • - Strike-based legend that can be useful when using Viper Viper or Celestial Celestial gear.
  • - Provide large amounts of defense and CC.

Specializations

  • - condi clear
  • - nice DPS boost for allies

Invocation

Invocation provides more utility over Devastation or Corruption but sacrifices both damage and sustain; for this reason it is only recommended when running variants that focus on providing Alacrity Alacrity or Might Might to allies via and .

  • - condi clear
  • - provides a number of valuable abilities that trigger when you change legends; especially valuable if using Shiro or Jalis.
  • - additional boons
  • - a small increase to sustain

Equipment

Ascended gear and stat infusions are not required; you can use exotic gear with the same stats. This set uses gear that is very similar to Build:Renegade_-_Condi_DPS, making it excellent for general PVE

  • Trailblazer Trailblazer - strong defense option
  • Celestial Celestial - ally support; good for defensive trinkets
  • / + 1 black diamond - alternative DPS runes
  • - provides extreme sustain
  • - defensive sigil

Interrupt Sigils

Due to the frequency of interrupts when using , Renegade can make excellent use of interrupt sigils, such as . This can be very powerful against groups of trash mobs, though it loses effectiveness against anything with a defiance bar. We're listing the interrupt sigils here, separate from the normal sigils, because in situations where you aren't frequently fighting defiant foes they are typically stronger than what's listed above.

  • - for condition builds, this is the strongest of the Interrupt sigils to use by far and offers higher DPS and sustain against groups of enemies than any other sigil, provided the enemies are not Defiant.

Consumables

Food
  • Any ascended food is superior to any other food you could use. Steak for power, flatbread for conditions. Budget versions of these foods exist and are acceptable.

Usage

Legend Breakdown: Damage & General Use

Two big pieces of general advice here:

  1. Swap legends often, typically off cooldown.
  2. Try not to interrupt your auto-attack chain if possible.

Other than that, you can spam weapon skills and use your utilities appropriately as outlined below:

Kalla

Kalla is angry, and now with the power of believing you can be angry too. Kalla is what makes this build work, she's like a sticky glue made out of charr bits and rage. There's a lot to unpack here, so follow along:
  1. is a massive AOE heal. Abuse it.
  2. provides very high CC and is a great stunbreak.
  3. - we'll mostly be ignoring this skill but if you can hit allies with it, it's decent for DPS.
  4. - we don't talk about this.
  5. - This is it. Our bread and butter. Iceyboy here applies a ton of Vulnerability Vulnerability for us very quickly. This is already great, as Vuln increases our damage, but with the traits we picked above it will trigger and rapidly stack Battle Scars for us. We can then spend these by landing a hit, which steals some health from our target and gives it to us.

This both increases our damage and makes us nearly immortal so long as we don't get CC'd. Your goal in Kalla is to use off cooldown while assessing the need for other skills.

Shiro

Shiro is our power DPS legend and is incredibly simple to use. Turn on until you run out of energy. Hit things.

Jalis

At first blush Jalis may not seem like much, but he's likely the most powerful legend in Rev's kit for most solo play. A few big things to note:
  • is a huge amount of CC
  • and provide a LOT of damage reduction.
  • deal decent damage and provide some healing
  • is a good stability source.

Generally with Jalis, you want to assess if the threat warrants a . If not, wear the target down with and (if it has a breakbar).

Mallyx

Mallyx is our edgy spec and is the best option for heavy condition pressure, both in and out. As a bonus, it gets a phenomenal combo we'll talk about later that provides some of the highest sustain in the game.

While in Mallyx, it's often best to simply activate and let it run out. You can use to break stun or give yourself a break from conditions, and is a short-range leap which can group enemies up for you to burst down.

If running , your will heal you for absolutely absurd amounts of health. Seriously. No, like really. Just try it. Its hilarious, we promise.

Ventari

Our old friend Ventari is the worst of the legends for general play but you'll be happy he's there when you really need him. Ventari has two major components to remember:
  1. is a long-duration, low-upkeep dome of projectile hate. This skill trivializes content that relies heavily on projectiles, such as Carin in Bastion of the Penitent or the Champion Commander Razorwing. It does eventually expire, but it lasts quite a long time. Try to conserve energy while its up so you don't run out too fast.
  2. is a spammable condition cleanse in an AOE. This is fantastic for random open world zergs.

That's about it with Ventari. He's pretty straightforward.

Damage

This build relies on fast application of Vulnerability Vulnerability, Torment Torment, and quick consumption of your Battlescars for damage and sustain. Because of energy management, there is no set rotation which you should follow, but rather a priority of skills. This also varies based on your current Legend and Weapon.

Skill Breakdown

  • - our highest DPS skill which also doubles as our primary source of sustain
  • - in Mallyx, keep this up at all times
  • - in Shiro, keep this skill up at all times; activate just before this skill for massive damage.
  • - this skill does a small amount of damage but will stun enemies; this helps to very quickly eat through breakbars and keep enemies in place to ensure higher Torment Torment damage.
  • - while energy intensive, against groups or Large-hitbox enemies, this skill is our highest DPS ability; avoid using it if using the Tormenting variant with Mallyx.
  • - one of our highest DPS skills
  • - takes this place with a shortbow; applies significant torment
  • - use this in your fire fields for might; applies considerable torment
  • - spammable bleeds
  • - applies a large amount of torment and some CC
  • - strong AOE
  • - expensive to use, but provides good CC.

Defense

Easiest class to solo champs due to healing from: 1) Devastation trait - Battle scarred: siphon health after using healing skill 2) Devastation trait - Thrill of Combat: gain battle scars healing while in combat 3) Devastation trait - Dance of Death: Applying vuln gives battle scars healing 4) Invocation - Rapid Flow: Heal every 5 sec while in combat 6) Superior Rune of Renegade 6th bonus: Heal 172hp after inflicting torment 7) Superior Sigil of Torment: Heals every 5 sec due to Rune of Renegade 8) Superior Sigil of Draining: Heal when interrupting enemy 9) Scoop of Mintberry Swirl Ice Cream 10) Using the healing skill itself

Best class in my personal opinion. The best build and class for Revenant, this is it! Superbly easy to learn and play, plus its the most powerful and high sustain and survivalibility. Use trailblazer set up for extra defense! Its definately worth the gold, for a quick set just get them from TP if youre new and have no crafting masteries yet. Shortbow dps combined with spamming of charr renegade utilitise and heals, youll survive almost all open world content with little or no effort! Mace and axe is just there for extra dps. And Malyxx is used mainly when you need a heal spike! Generally you will just use Charr Renegade A must try! Play this and youll never want to play another class!

This is it. This is my favorite build in the game. What really makes this shine isn't it's damage, it isn't it's survivability. It's its versatility. This build can adapt to any situation - ANY situation - and perform stellarly. It is capable of stunning solo dps and surprisingly good group dps, competing even with some raid dps builds. It's healing capability and buffing potential is also quite shocking. This build also gives you the freedom to run almost anything you want. Almost any trait, almost any weapon, almost any legend. They're all great and work well. There is no wrong way to play this. If you're looking for THE master of jack of all trades, this is it. This is the one. Play this build.

Rev in general is basically the strongest open world spec. With renegade, it's even better. It's like the oxyclean commercials but real.

After having tested this on some champs, I can safely say that Celestial Renegade is the go-to option for solo play. It melts things, it stays alive, it melts things, it provides great support and, oh, did I mention it melts things? I'm doing Corruption-Devastation-Renegade with the Pact of Pain instead of Abyssal Chill and Mace/Sw + Shortbow. It really is a great selection for a lot of different content. Unlike other builds, don't be afraid to switch legends based on encounter. Believe me, it will help you out more if you do.

Arguably the best open world build for soloing hard contents like legy bounties, fractal cm. Good damage, crazy sustain and tools to deal with variety of situations, simple-to-no rotation, great at tagging and it is range. The only cons of the build are lack of condi clease (maybe use cleanse sigil on weapon swap) and really low mobility when not using shiro.

This is a remarkable build. Not only does it combine excellent damage and burst (even with the Trailblazer version) with excellent sustain, but it does this with a ranged weapon which makes it nearly unique. It's not for everyone--some people won't like how many ground-targeted skills there are, at least with the Kalla/Renegade stance--but if you don't mind that or can get by with the other stances, you owe it to yourself to give this build a try.

This build is ridiculously good. With the Retribution trait-line, survivability is not an issue and the damage output of this build is immense. The rotation is simple and effective and allows for soloing of nearly all content in PvE so long as the gear is decent. Also, it can wield a Unicorn bow. I don't think there is too much else to want from a build.

Probably the easiest & one of the strongest open world rev build currently. Has fantastic burst & sustain and can solo most champions & bounties. Slight variants include running any sort of major traits you want in the renegade line and either invocation, corruption, or retribution. The only staple is devastation 333 and running as a renegade. With invocation 122 & renegade minor traits you will have permanent fury, 25 might stacks, & hitting close to 90%+ CC with TB or dire making this build have great mixed damage. Icerazor's ire combined with DoD + battle scars ensures you immediately heal up to full every switch to Kalla. Be sure to avoid trying to solo any content where icerazor's (and your autos) won't hit, as you will lose a large chunk of your sustain but beyond that, go nuts.

In my opinion this is the strongest open world rev build at the time of writing. Has excellent burst, good sustained damage, and ridiculous self-sustain when paired with runes of tormenting. This build can solo most champions comfortably provided you know the champions attacks. Overall an absolute powerhouse of an open world roamer.

Renegade is one of the strongest open world classes at the moment due to its insane sustain and relatively high damage. Shortbow has fast projectile speed and innate area damage on its autos, so this build can perform well in a zerg while also being capable of soloing legendary bounties and even dungeons. To really make the class shine you need to be familiar with all the tools at your disposal and swap out legends based on your situation, but its low input requirements make it a comfortable class to play for long periods of time.
