Designed for: Raids

This build was last updated on February 15, 2022 and is up to date for the March 19, 2024 patch.

Overview

This iteration of Support Chrono is a boon support that provides 100% Quickness Quickness uptime for its party while dealing high personal DPS. This massively increases the group's damage output due to faster cast times. In addition, it can cheese certain raid mechanics using Feedback, Blink, and Portal Entre.

This iteration of Support Chrono is currently the most commonly used option and is paired with a Renegade or Mirage that provides alacrity. If for some reason you don't have another player providing alacrity, you should use Build:Chronomancer_-_Utility_Boon_Support instead.

Weapon Variants

Sword/Sword is mandatory but Shield can be replaced if the utility from Focus is required

Skill Variants

Utility If you need a utility skill you can swap out Well of Action:

  • Feedback helps with reflects.
  • Well of Precognition provides aegis to your subgroup, useful for fights like Deimos CM.
  • Mantra of Concentration provides Stability to your group.
  • Mantra of Distraction for encounters that require heavy CC, and for recharging Time Sink.

Elite

  • Gravity Well should be used if an encounter requires heavy CC.
  • Time Warp is not required to maintain quickness, but it provides an easy way to start fights with quickness and can be used to cover up any mistakes in the rotation.

Equipment

There are many variations of gear for Chronomancer and some of them can be difficult to acquire, however they all share a common goal in their stat choices which is to reach enough boon duration to maintain sufficient boons for their group. The required boon duration will depend on the skill of you and your group, as well as whether you're running with builds such as Build:Firebrand_-_Quickness_Support_Power_DPS and Build:Renegade_-_Boon_Support_Power_DPS. The version listed here will in theory work for all fights but if you find that your quickness uptime has gaps, don't be afraid to replace Berserker equipment with Diviner gear for additional boon generation.

Note that only a single mainhand sword is required and equipping a second mainhand sword in your second weapon can be skipped.

Standard:

Higher DPS: You can use these if you're confident in your ability to maintain quickness on your party. Note that these shouldn't be used with the Focus variant due to its inherently lower quickness generation.

Usage

This build generates most of its quickness through shatters thanks to Seize the Moment, therefore it is important to maximize value from each shatter cast but you should also make sure not to waste clones by summoning extras and overriding an existing one.

Opening/Continuum Split Burst

  1. Time Warp - only if you have it slotted.
  2. Echo of Memory
  3. Tides of Time
  4. Illusionary Leap
  5. Weapon swap Weapon swap
  6. Phantasmal Swordsman - enter Continuum Split during the cast of this skill.
  7. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  8. Signet of Inspiration
  9. Well of Action
  10. Signet of the Ether
  11. Phantasmal Swordsman
  12. Split Second, Rewinder, Time Sink - Shatters have no cast time so these can just be mashed, but make sure you press them in the order listed.
  13. Blurred Frenzy - You won't be able to cast this if you entered Continuum Split with 2 clones.
  14. Continuum Shift if it hasn't ended already
  15. Well of Action
  16. Signet of Inspiration
  17. Phantasmal Swordsman
  18. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  19. Signet of the Ether
  20. Phantasmal Swordsman
  21. Phantasmal Disenchanter

General Rotation

  • Outside of the opening burst and Continuum Split your rotation is simply casting skills off cooldown and swapping weapons to maximise casts of Phantasmal Swordsman and Tides of Time. If multiple skills are available at once, use the following list to prioritize the order you cast them in:
  1. Well of Action
  2. Signet of Inspiration
  3. Phantasmal Swordsman
  4. Signet of the Ether
  5. Blurred Frenzy
  6. Illusionary Leap
  7. Phantasmal Disenchanter
  8. Tides of Time
  • Fill gaps in between skills listed in the rotation with auto-attack chains.
    • Make sure not to interrupt your autoattack chain as the damage from it is heavily loaded into the final strike, Mind Spike.
  • If you're using Focus, simply replace Tides of Time with Phantasmal Warden

Continuum Split

  • Your Continuum Split should come off cooldown while you're on your shield set. When you swap to shield and Continuum Split is nearly off cooldown, avoid casting skills other than Tides of Time and Illusionary Leap. When your weapon swap is ready, move to step 5 of the opening burst.
  • Your first Continuum Split will be shorter than the rest since you will only be able to generate 2 clones before entering it. As a result it won't be possible to complete the full rotation listed before it ends.
    • As a result, Blurred Frenzy should be skipped in your first Continuum Split.
    • If you're still struggling to fit everything in, consider skipping the Signet of the Ether and Phantasmal Swordsman and simply casting Blurred Frenzy instead.

Tips

  • You can use Temporal CurtainInto the Void to pull adds onto the boss if needed.
  • As previously mentioned, Time Warp is not necessary to maintain quickness and is taken to provide a quick source of quickness at the start of the fight. After this, it can be cast at any point to cover any quickness gaps that may occur due to fight mechanics or player error.
  • Blurred Frenzy and Illusionary Riposte can be used to avoid incoming damage with less of a DPS loss than dodging.

Clone Sources

  • Each of your Phantasm skills will create a clone after a short delay, once the phantasm has completed its attack. Keeping track of your phantasms is important to ensure you don't waste any clones.
  • Illusionary Leap creates a clone on your target.
  • Illusionary Riposte creates a clone on your target, but only if you take damage to trigger the counter.

Shatter Usage

  • Split Second is your primary shatter and does by far the most damage - if you have multiple shatters available this should be your first pick. It's ok to delay this a little bit if you're only at 2 clones.
  • Rewinder should only be cast when you're at 3 clones, but make sure you'll have enough clones for the next Split Second afterwards.
  • Time Sink should be saved for emergencies to provide CC or cover quickness gaps.
  • If your opening Continuum Split is ending before you have a chance to cast your shatters, try moving them up a few steps earlier and don't be afraid to cast them during other skills.

0 boon duration but pretty sufficient boon uptime. Compared to Cata, both of them need an enemy to attack, but chrono doesn't need any time to set up and has much longer uptime for the invulnerable phase. If the boss blinks a lot or the fight is pretty short, chrono would be painful. Luckly, in strikes that would be unlikely to happen.

Boon chrono is on a great spot these days. Being able to provide either quickness or alacrity by simply changing one trait and nothing else is absolutely amazing. It's not super easy to play, but it's a really good option. The only downside is that it cannot provide quickness/alacrity without enemies to attack, which can a minor inconvenience during phases.

A long-time staple of raid groups, chronomancer still brings reliable quickness along with amazing CC, active defence, and good access to group aegis and stability. Teleports and portals also allow for skips no other class can provide. Doesn't offer many boons other than quickness or alacrity, but it's pretty common for alacrity sources to provide everything chronomancer lacks.

STM / Power Boon chrono is an absurdly fun and effective build that can manage extremely high DPS even as a support. This build should be a staple of any chrono main's arsenal.
