Introduction

Acquiring WvW legendary armor can be a much more relaxed experience than the Raid and PvP alternatives since it is largely gained passively and doesn't require high intensity or personal skill. This does result in a fairly lengthy timegate (20 weeks), but can be sped up through active play around objectives.

This guide lists the requirements for a full set of legendary armor, but you can also craft each piece individually. In that case, just divide all of the requirements by 6. Keep in mind that the WvW Skirmish Ticket values are slightly different depending on which armor piece you're crafting.

There are two versions of WvW legendary armor. For basic legendary functionality you only need the Triumphant Hero's Armor, but there is also the Mistforged Triumphant Hero's Armor which has some extra effects on the armor skin along with some additional requirements and costs to acquire it. The difference is entirely visual, functionality is unchanged.

Crafting Materials

Like other legendaries, there are both tradeable and untradeable materials needed to craft the armor. The main timegate in the grind is WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets ("Tickets"). Many of the requirements will completely or partially be obtained during the grind for tickets. The following list shows every item needed to craft legendary armor and is color coded as follows:

  • Red: Not obtained during ticket grind
  • Yellow: Partially obtained during ticket grind
  • Green: Entirely obtained during ticket grind
Tradable Materials
  • 3000 Memory of Battle
    • Mistforged Variant - 6000 Memory of Battle
  • 450 Stabilizing Matrix
  • Various crafting materials (see Gift of War Prosperity)
Account Bound Materials
  • 24 Grandmaster Armorsmith's/Leathersmith's/Tailor's Mark
  • 6 Gift of Battle
  • 6 Ball of Dark Energy
  • 300 Obsidian Shard
  • 3000 Badges of Honor
  • 90 Mystic Clover
  • 600 Spirit Shard

    • Mistforged Variant - 10500 Tickets
  • 1500 Proof of Heroics

Heavy Legendary WvW Armor

Precursor

Getting the precursor for WvW legendary armor can be confusing due to three similarly named sets that are all involved in the process. To break it down you'll need to get the Triumphant Armor set and your choice of either the Triumphant Hero's Armor or the Mistforged Triumphant Hero's Armor.

To start out you'll need to finish the Triumphant Armor Reward track once for each armor piece you want to unlock. Refer to the guide to rewards for information on speeding up reward track completion.

Triumphant Armor Reward Track

Next you need to purchase the Triumphant Hero's ascended armor from the Skirmish Supervisor. Make sure to buy the ascended version, since exotic can't be used as a precursor.

Gift of War Prowess

With the exception of the items needed for the Cube of Stabilized Dark Energy, these materials can all be gained through WvW gameplay. This is the main timegated part of crafting WvW legendary armor due to the WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets.

  • 6 Legendary War Insight - via Legendary Commander War Razor
    • 6570 WvW Skirmish Claim Ticket
  • 6 Eldritch Scroll - via Mystic Forge Attendant
    • 300 Spirit Shard
  • 300 Obsidian Shard
  • 6 Cube of Stabilized Dark Energy - via 500 crafting
    • 6 Ball of Dark Energy
    • 450 Stabilizing Matrix

Gift of War Dedication

All of the materials for this gift can be obtained through regular WvW gameplay and with the exception of memories can be purchased from Legendary Commander War Razor. This is the easiest gift to obtain, you'll most likely have every item needed by the time you finish the Gift of War Prowess with the possible exception of Memory of Battle. If you do need more memories you can just buy them from the trading post for gold. If you find yourself short on Spirit Shards make sure you're redeeming your Tomes of Knowledge. For a detailed guide for how to obtain all of these materials you can check out the guide to WvW rewards.

Gift of War Prosperity

This is the material sink part of the legendary. The Gift of Condensed Might and Gift of Condensed Magic each require a large amount of crafting materials to be combined into four different gifts which are then combined into the condensed gifts. The best way to get these materials will be buying any you need from the trading post for gold. Check out our ways to earn gold guide if you need more gold to finish this.

You're also going to need mystic clovers. You can get these just by finishing reward tracks in WvW, but the gw2wiki has a great article here that explains other ways to acquire them.

Finally, the last components are the Gifts of Battle. Each gift requires completion of the Gift of Battle reward track in WvW. Check out the guide to WvW rewards for more information on the best way to maximize reward track progress.

Once you have all the components, throw them in the Mystic Forge and the Gift of War Prosperity is yours.
