Overview
This PvP build focuses on the amazing kiting and damage potential of the Elder's Spear to eliminate targets while remaining a great versatile fighter. Equipment
Usage
Elder's Spear
Lunging Strike — This is the ability you will be using the most and the way you can gain Spirit Spear Charges. This medium ranged ability not only does good damage but also slows down enemies hit while every Spirit Spear Charges increases your auto-attack damage and stacks up to 3. This makes it important to always try and use auto-attacks between uses of Lunging Strike.
Cripple — This ability has multiple uses. It purges any movement speed buff like runs, increases your movement speed and also increases your damage while decreasing the movement speed of any enemy hit by it. Due to it's rather short range, you need to be very close to an enemy to make use of Cripple but the damage increases you gain is great to boost your Reckless Charge. Keep attention to enemy's buff bar and use Cripple whenever you see a run ability like Rejuvenating Sprint be used so you keep the superior mobility against your target.
Reckless Charge — This is your main damage in the build but it can also be used for the great movement it provides as the charge has a nice range. Any enemy hit by this will be knocked into the air briefly and take damage based on how many Spirit Spear Charges you've gotten using Lunging Strike.
Life Leech — Each auto-attack will heal you for a small amount based on how much HP the target lost. This helps a bit with your sustain as you kite targets.
Elder's Assassin Jacket
Ambush — This ability offers you stealth that can be used in various ways. You can use the stealth to disengage from losing fights or simply to boost your damage as staying in stealth will increase your damage for a short duration after leaving stealth. You could use the Ambush to boost your damage while you have 3 Spirit Spear Charges and follow up with Reckless Charge out of stealth, making it very difficult to avoid.
Balanced Mind — This passive not only increases your damage output which makes perfect sense for this build.
Elder's Hunter Hood
Retaliate — This is your main defensive option, Retaliate increases your damage resistance for a short duration while also reflecting 85% of incoming damage back to the attacker. Use this in order to reflect high damaging spells like Death Curse or Pyroblast.
Balanced Mind — This passive simply increases your raw damage.
Elder's Soldier Boots
Rejuvenating Sprint — While you can use any other pair of plate boots, Elder's Soldier Boots is a great choice as it offers healing and can be found in many other builds which means faming them up will also benefit you in other builds you might play.
Another good option are the Elder's Knight Boots for their Shield Charge ability that gives you a big shield and helps with your survival in certain fights.
Toughness — This defensive option is preferred for a bit of extra defence but you can use Courier if you need more weight.
Elder's Thetford Cape
Chain Lightning — This will activate with your auto-attacks and can hit up to 4 targets near the initial target you hit. The 15 seconds cooldown makes it a great choice for this build as it allows it to proc multiple times throughout a fight. Another option would be the Elder's Avalonian Cape with higher damage but a longer cooldown while also being considerably more expensive.
Rotations
- You should always play to your advantage and keep yourself in the range where you can reach with Lunging Strike without exposing yourself and keeping your target at bay. Try to get 3 Spirit Spear Charges before following up with Cripple and Reckless Charge as this will maximize the damage you can do.
Don't forget that if you don't use Ambush defensively, you can still use this between using Cripple and Reckless Charge while you still have 3 Spirit Spear Charges. Keep in mind however that this will leave you without a way out if the fight escalates even if your damage will be increased significantly.
Consumables
Major Healing Potion — The potion allows you to sustain yourself while trading damage with your enemies while you kite, try to keep a few in your inventory as certain matchups can last longer.
Beef Stew — Use this to increase your overall damage. You can also consider using Pork Omelette as it lowers your cooldowns, both work perfectly fine. Try to use a 7.1 or 8.1 version though!
