Overview

This build focuses on Mists/Open World solo PvP where the Elder's BattleaxeElder's Battleaxe shines as a tanky albeit a bit immobile weapon. Its incredible healing can take many by surprise and the skill floor remains low enough even for new players to have an easy time getting into it and enjoy Open World PvP. The price of the build remains quite low which makes this weapon a great choice for beginners.

Keep in mind: Gear shown in this build is meant as a reference. Choosing the correct tier of gear is very tricky as there are many variables. Some of them being your budget, your spec and minimum Item Power requirements of your guild if used for ZvZ.

You should always check prices based on IP of the items. For example, a masterpiece quality 4.3 Elder's CryptcandleElder's Cryptcandle could be cheaper while providing roughly the same IP as an 8.0.

Usage

Elder's BattleaxeElder's Battleaxe

Rending RageRending Rage — This is your main damaging ability and the one you will use most to catch targets. Use the first two casts of the ability to deal damage while the third cast can be used to root targets. Keep in mind that every hit will also apply a Rending Bleed that will constantly do damage to the target and lower the healing received.

Battle RushBattle Rush — This offers you some mobility as it allows you to jump to a location and decrease enemy healing while improving the amount of healing you receive, working perfectly with this build.

Blood BanditBlood Bandit — The unique ability of the Elder's BattleaxeElder's Battleaxe is the range Blood BanditBlood Bandit that allows you to throw 2 axes. The damage received by the enemy will be based on the amount of Rending Bleeds the target has active. Hitting enemies using this ability will also heal you for a great amount.

Deep CutsDeep Cuts — As you will be staying on top of your targets, the bleeds provided by this passive are invaluable.

Elder's Mage RobeElder's Mage Robe

Purging ShieldPurging Shield — A great damage increasing chest piece but the main appeal remains the ability to purge enemies that hit you whenever you activate Purging ShieldPurging Shield. This will take many enemies by surprise and force them to retreat. This long lasting purge counters a lot of current meta weapons as well which is even better!

AggressionAggression — Straight up increases your damage, good to have!

Elder's Hunter HoodElder's Hunter Hood

RetaliateRetaliate — Another defensive option, RetaliateRetaliate increases your damage resistance for a short duration while also reflecting 85% of incoming damage back to the attacker. Use this in order to reflect high damaging spells like Spinning BladesSpinning Blades, Death CurseDeath Curse or PyroblastPyroblast

Balanced MindBalanced Mind — You want to choose this passive for the raw damage increase.

Elder's Scholar SandalsElder's Scholar Sandals

Energetic SprintEnergetic Sprint — Without any other option for mana regen, the Energetic SprintEnergetic Sprint offers great mana regen when used, allowing you to drag out fights in your favour.

AggressionAggression — The standard choice for DPS builds. Remember that you can always switch to CourierCourier to carry more weight when you loot items off corpses.

Elder's Martlock CapeElder's Martlock Cape

Shield of ProtectionShield of Protection — This cape will offers you a boost to your defense when HP drops below 25% and can surprise enemies with your tankiness for a short duration and long enough for you to use Blood BanditBlood Bandit to deal high damage.

Blood Bandit
  • You want to try and start with Battle Rush if the enemy is away from you or running following up with Energetic Sprint in order to keep up while Rending Rage is used to deal damage as you move, the third hit being the one that also roots. Use Blood Bandit once you have a few bleed stacks on the target in order to maximize damage!

Most builds enemies might use would be incapable of face-trading with you and you should use Purging ShieldPurging Shield whenever they try to do that in order to further discourage them and burn their CDs.

Consumables

Major Healing PotionMajor Healing Potion — In order to double-down on the healing abilities of this build, the Major Healing PotionMajor Healing Potion is a great choice especially coupled with Battle RushBattle Rush.

Roasted Puremist SnapperRoasted Puremist Snapper — This food allows you to steal HP from the target whenever you do damage. This also works with long-lasting bleeds and its great for your ability to tank damage.
