Overview
This PvP build focuses on the amazing kiting potential of the Elder's Bow of Badon to eliminate targets while remaining a great versatile fighter. While the build doesn't require much game knowledge, it performs well in both Solo Mists and Corrupted Dungeons and remains a very popular choice for range DPS players.
Equipment
Usage
Elder's Bow of Badon
Poisoned Arrow — In order to maximize kiting potential, the Poisoned Arrow offers great Damge over Time with minimum mobility loss. You want to put your poison on a target and get in a few auto-attacks before they can reach you and you start kiting away from them.
Another good option would be Multishot for the knock back that also interrupts enemies. This is usually preferred if fighting a target that has an easier time keeping up with your mobility but is also meleee.
Frost Shot — Your other important kiting ability, the Frost Shot knocks YOU back a good distance while doing damage and slowing down enemies. While the damage is negligible, the mobility provided by this ability is excellent.
Feel free to also switch to Explosive Arrows for the extra damage if you are facing a healer as they are quite immobile and you can catch them in your Raging Storm more easily without having to kite as much.
Raging Storm — This ability will shoot out an arrow that explodes upon impact with an enemy, creating an AOE storm on the spot it hits. This storm will do high damage to those caught in it and even leaving it will still deal damage over time while interrupting spell-casting. As the AOE storm remains on the spot for a while, you can use this to kite enemies around and force them to go through the storm if they want to catch you, making it a very effective skill against melee DPS.
Piercing Arrows — Each auto-attack will decrease the defenses of enemies you hit, this will help with burning down enemies as it stacks up to 4 seconds and its perfect with the auto-attack heavy weapon used in this build.
Elder's Assassin Jacket
Ambush — This ability offers you stealth that can be used in various ways. You can use the stealth to disengage from losing fights or simply to boost your damage as staying in stealth will increase your damage for a short duration after leaving stealth.
Balanced Mind — This passive not only increases your damage output which makes perfect sense for this build.
Elder's Cowl of Purity
Avalonian Beam — This long range beam of energy deals high damage on impact but also an equal amount over time to the same target, this is a great choice as it boosts your DPS without forcing you to get too close to your enemy but it takes a decent deal of practice to consistently hit with it and practice is needed.
Aggression — This passive increases your damage which pairs well with the weapon.
Elder's Soldier Boots
Rejuvenating Sprint — While you can use any other pair of plate boots, Elder's Soldier Boots is a great choice as it offers healing and can be found in many other builds which means faming them up will also benefit you in other builds you might play.
Toughness — This defensive option is preferred for a bit of extra defence but you can use Courier if you need more weight.
Elder's Undead Cape
Vanisher — Once your HP drops below 15%, you will enter stealth (you are still able to use your abilities in this stealth but your damage is decreased by 50%). You should make use of this as a last resort in order to reposition away from the enemy or disengage entirely when coupled with Ambush.
Rotations
- Once dismounted, you should use Poisoned Arrow to start damaging your enemy before using Frost Shot to kite away and force them to chase. If not, you can use the same Frost Shot to chase after them if need be. Preferably try to use Raging Storm after you've managed to slow them down using Frost Shot so it's easier for your to land the ability and then try to kite near it's AOE storm. The same goes for Avalonian Beam as missing these abilities will decrease your damage a lot.
You should aim to always have Poisoned Arrow active on the target while mostly using Frost Shot to kite away and burn enemy runs while waiting for your hard hitting abilities.
Consumables
Major Healing Potion — The potion allows you to sustain yourself while trading damage with your enemies while you kite, try to keep as certain matchups can last longer.
Pork Omelette — Lowering your cooldowns helps you a lot with kiting and dealing damage between auto-attacks, try to use at least a 7.1 version of this though as the price difference isn't all that high.
