Energy Shaper ZvZ PvP Build
Strengths
- Great Burst
- Easy to Play
Weaknesses
- Requires good positioning
Overview
This build focuses on the high damage of the Divine Engine used to deny choke points of entry like territory gates. You also have access to Avalonian Beam for quick bursts. The build performs very well in defensive positions like castles or territory defense as the high range is fantastic at denying pushes from the enemy zergs.
Equipment
Usage
Elder's Energy Shaper
Explosive Bolt — This AOE ability does decent damage but it shouldn't be something you focus on using. Because of the defensive positions you normally want to use an Elder's Energy Shaper in, you can use Explosive Bolt over walls to poke.
Caltrops — Similar to how the Explosive Bolt is used, you want to throw the Caltrops over walls and in front of enemy zergs without getting too far out of your position as a range DPS. You can also use this on top of your zerg's position in order to prepare for a retreat and help your team by slowing enemies that push through your previous position.
Divine Engine — This laser is the bread and butter of the build and can be used on choke points in order to deal high sustained damage. Try to always aim for the choke points while enemies are pushing in order to stop an enemy push. Keep in mind that this skill can still be blocked by Elder's Demon Armor so always try to keep an eye out for that, especially if you didn't manage to trigger Everlasting Spirit.
Well-Prepared — Using abilities will reset your Explosive Bolt every 4th spell which is nice to have but you don't have many other options anyway.
Elder's Cleric Robe
Everlasting Spirit — This is the main defensive ability you should learn how to use first. You want to pop this right before you use Divine Engine. Because of the damage ramping up, the initial damage isn't high enough to hurt you even if you get hit back by a Elder's Demon Armor. However, any damage you receive is enough to trigger the invulnerability bubble.
Aggression — Another passive that increases your damage and even increases your defense by a little bit.
Elder's Cowl of Purity
Avalonian Beam — Use this to deliver a quick burst of damage and interrupt spellcasting. As the beam travels in a straight line, so try to use this in choke points or when you see clumps of enemies tightly together.
Aggression — This passive increases your damage which is perfect for the build.
Elder's Royal Sandals
Defenseless Rush — A good damage increase on demand, great for increasing the damage of all your skills but most importantly increasing the damage you do with Avalonian Beam and Divine Engine. This will also lower your defenses and make you even squishier.
Aggression — This increases your damage even further.
Elder's Lymhurst Cape
Energy Reserve — As the build can be rather mana intensive, this will help a lot with mana sustain as it triggers once your mana falls below 40% and it restores 80% of your total mana.
Rotations
- Your rotation is quite simple and the main task is to position so your Divine Engine can do as much damage as possible. Start with Defenseless Rush to boost your damage, using Avalonian Beam next on a clump to deal burst damage before following up by activating Everlasting Spirit. Use Divine Engine on a choke point or before enemies make their push in order to deny that particular push.
Use Explosive Bolt and Caltrops over walls to help chip away at zerg's HP and to slow them down but try not to get yourself out of position when using these.
Consumables
Major Gigantify Potion — Use this as your defensive, pop it if you see enemies trying to catch you or if you get slowed down and you cannot avoid damage coming onto you. Can also be used during an engagement to soak damage while you do your rotation.
Beef Stew — As damage is the most important part of this build, you want to use the Beef Stew to improve that. Try to use an 8.1 or 8.2 for best return on your investment.
