Pike Solo PvP Build
Strengths
- Good Burst Damage
- Versatile
Weaknesses
- Low Mobility
Overview
This PvP build focuses on the potential for 'one-shots' when using the Elder's Pike high damage Rooting Smash ability coupled with the resistance decrease offered by Mortal Agony. This build also offers great kiting potential in 1vs1 fights and remains a very versatile build that can perform well. While the mobility isn't great, the Elder's Pike shines at slowing down enemies and dictating the range.
Equipment
Usage
Elder's Pike
Lunging Strike — This is the ability you will be using the most and the way you can gain Spirit Spear Charges. This medium ranged ability not only does good damage but also slows down enemies hit while every Spirit Spear Charges increases your auto-attack damage and stacks up to 3. This makes it important to always try and use auto-attacks between uses of Lunging Strike.
Impaler — This is a fantastic damage dealing ability with a good range that allows you to dictate the range of engagement while also allowing you to kite successfully.
Rooting Smash — The damage duration of this skill is based on the amount of Spirit Spear Charges you have available whenever you cast the ability. You want to always use this when you have 3 charges as thats where the maximum damage is delivered and the skill can be used to both execute low HP targets but also help with your kiting. The root duration isn't tied to the amount of Spirit Spear Charges.
Life Leech — Each auto-attack will heal you for a small amount based on how much HP the target lost. This helps a bit with your sustain as you kite targets.
Elder's Mage Robe
Purging Shield — You will get a damage resistance increase whenever you activate this ability, however, an enemy attacking you while this skill is active will also have all buffs purged from him too. This is very efficient at purging sword Heroic Charges!
Aggression — This passive not only increases your damage output.
Elder's Stalker Hood
Mortal Agony — You should use this whenever the enemy is below 50% HP in order to strip all their defensive resistances but also boost your damage and follow up with Rooting Smash. This ability can also be used to reveal targets that are invisible which helps a lot with some of the builds you meet in mists.
Balanced Mind — This passive simply increases your raw damage.
Elder's Knight Boots
Shield Charge — The use of Elder's Knight Boots offers a much needed defensive ability that even helps with your mobility. You want to use the Shield Charge on an enemy to gain the large HP shield when starting a fight and forcing the enemy to go through your shield before getting to do any real damage to your HP.
Toughness — This defensive option is preferred for a bit of extra defence but you can use Courier if you need extra weight when carrying too much loot.
Elder's Keeper Cape
Berserk — This cape offers a good damage increase when your HP drops below 70%, and when timed well, you can deliver incredible damage with your Rooting Smash.
Rotations
- You generally want to start the fight by dashing to your target using your Shield Charge and start chipping away at their HP with Lunging Strike. This will apply Spirit Spear Charges on yourself and increase your auto-attack damage too. Follow up by using Impaler to slow down your enemy and dictate the range for the fight. Keep using Lunging Strike and dropping down their HP by casting the combination of Mortal Agony and Rooting Smash whenever you have 3 Spirit Spear Charges but you should aim to use this combo when the enemy HP is at 50%.
Consumables
Major Gigantify Potion — You should use this to block out some damage, especially when you are fighting enemies that have a lot of burst damage like 1H curse staff. You should use this potion before such burst damage ability hits you.
Beef Stew — Use this to increase your overall damage! Try to use a 8.1 or even the 8.2 version though.
