Strengths
- High Burst Damage
- Versatile
- Easy to Play
Weaknesses
- High Skill Ceiling
Overview
This Elder's Wildfire Staff build focuses on solo mists and Open World pvp but it can perform well in duo mists as well! The damage Elder's Wildfire Staff offers is great and can take a lot of players by surprise while also helping a lot with the PvE part of playing in the mists, allowing you to breeze, especially in the Knightfall Abbey. The access to Flame Blast also offers surprising mobility, allowing you to catch up to much more mobile targets.
Equipment
Usage
Elder's Wildfire Staff
Fire Bolt — This is your main damaging ability, it launches a fire bolt on your target dealing damage but also setting them on fire, placing a DoT that stacks up to 5 times. Because of Aggressive Caster, your cast time will lower every time you cast 4 abilities, making this spell much easier to cast repeatedly.
Flame Blast — A great, versatile skill that can be used both offensively and as utility providing you a bit of extra movement speed. However, most of the time you want to use this ability on enemies. With it's instant cast time, you can start off the fight with it and use it on cooldown.
Magma Sphere — This remains your highest damaging skill and creates a magma ball that rolls through in whatever direction you aim it. Always use this ability when you know you can actually connect it with your enemy but be careful as the cast time is rather long and can be interrupted.
Aggressive Caster — This will decrease your cooldown speed for a few seconds every time you cast 4 spells. Because your Fire Bolt has no cooldown, this can be used to get a few casts of Fire Bolt with ease.
Elder's Cleric Robe
Everlasting Spirit — While it takes good timing, Everlasting Spirit is a great defensive ability to help you mitigate a lot of burst damage. Make sure to use this while anticipating damage from auto-attacks or other abilities as the first hit you take during the short duration of the Everlasting Spirit will create the shield that renders you invulnerable.
Aggression — The passive offers you a great flat damage increase and its an obvious choice.
Elder's Hunter Hood
Retaliate — Another defensive option, Retaliate increases your damage resistance for a short duration while also reflecting 85% of incoming damage back to the attacker. You should try to use this against skills like Electric Field or other skills with high damage potential.
Balanced Mind — You want to choose this passive for the raw damage increase.
Elder's Soldier Boots
Rejuvenating Sprint — This remains one of the most popular runs in the game as it also recovers some of your HP during the run.
Toughness — This defensive option is preferred over Authority as the 5% CC duration doesn't help at all with this build.
Elder's Keeper Cape
Berserk — With only a few defensive abilities, Berserk is a great choice for when your HP drops below 70%, it will improve your overall damage by 50% and helps a great amount when using Fire Bolt.
Rotations
- You should start off with Fire Bolt followed by Flame Blast on your target before using Fire Bolt again while looking for a good opportunity to use Magma Sphere. That will trigger your Aggressive Caster and allow you to spam Fire Bolt as you chase the enemy.
Consumables
Major Gigantify Potion — With only a few defensive choices in the build, the Major Gigantify Potion provides great value when trading damage. You should also keep a Major Healing Potion in your inventory though.
Pork Omelette — The omelette is a good choice as it offers great cooldown reduction for your Magma Sphere and Flame Blast. Try to use a 7.1 as the price difference isn't big at all.
