Overview
The Elder's Shadowcaller build focuses on solo PvE, performing incredibly well in dungeons and being capable of pulling great fame numbers quite easily while not being too difficult to play even for newer players. The self sustain is coupled well with the high AOE damage of the build and it can even do well in open world grinding mobs solo either in the black zone or anywhere else.
Equipment
Usage
Elder's Shadowcaller
Cursed Tar — Use this AOE on the ground after you pile up mobs together. As it applies vile curse stacks with each second a mob spends on the tar, you can maximize the stacks you apply quite easily.
Cursed Beam — You want to use this when you've already put a few Vile Curse Charges on your targets as every charge gets consumed and deals extra damage in a 4m radius around the target hit by the beam. Try to always line up mobs so the maximum amount of them are hit at the same time.
Inner Shadow — While wearing leather armor like the Elder's Mercenary Jacket, you want to cast this on yourself to summon a ghost dealing AOE damage wherever you cast the ability. Stack as many enemies as possible before using this skill as more enemies getting damaged will mean you will heal even more based on the amount of health they've lost.
Bane — Perfect for your constant auto-attacking between using your abilities.
Elder's Mercenary Jacket
Bloodlust — Use this to help with sustaining your HP, pop it before casting your combo and you should regain a good amount of HP quite easily.
Once you are comfortable with healing yourself only using your Inner Shadow coupled with Roast Pork, you can also try using Elder's Stalker Jacket in order to deal even more AOE damage and clear dungeons faster.
Balanced Mind — This is your only relevant choice as it increases your flat damage.
Elder's Scholar Cowl
Energy Shield — This shield will not only increase your defense but also restore your mana. Because the build is quite mana intensive, you should use this to regain mana whenever it gets low. Keep in mind that you need to be attacked while the shield is active to regain mana so pop it before a group of mobs attacks you.
Aggression — You want to choose this passive for the raw damage increase.
Elder's Soldier Boots
Wanderlust — While you can use essentially any other boots for PvE, the soldier boots with Wanderlust offer you a long lasting run though and its a great choice but you can opt for essentially any other boots in the game and you will be fine.
Toughness — This defensive option is preferred over Authority as the 5% CC duration increase doesn't do anything for this build.
Elder's Avalonian Cape
Force Pulse — This cape offers great AOE damage on a rather short 30s cooldown. Keep in mind that there is a small delay between using your auto-attack to trigger the cape and the explosion.
Rotations
- You want to start the rotation by pulling mobs either with your auto-attacks (if your cape is on cooldown or else the auto-attack will trigger the cape) or just walking through the room pulling aggro with your presence. Once the mobs are pulled close, use Cursed Tar followed by Inner Shadow casted on yourself (use the shortcut alt + E). You should use your auto-attack to trigger Force Pulse then use Cursed Beam to blow up the vile curse charges and deal AOE damage to the entire group of mobs.
Consumables
Major Poison Potion — You want to have a few 4.0 poisons as it heavily decreases the resistance of bosses and while some bosses can be tough to kill, using a poison on them helps a lot as it also does extra true damage when used against mobs or bosses.
Roast Pork — While the Inner Shadow coupled with Bloodlust offers great healing, the use of Roast Pork helps you even more with healing while in combat, becoming essentially unkillable while you fight.
