Top Tips & Tricks for Ashes of Creation
Master Ashes of Creation with these essential tips and tricks for beginners and veterans. From leveling faster to surviving PvP encounters and making the most of the node system, this guide gives you the edge you need in Verra.
Get Weapons Early
As you start the game, make sure to collect the weapons off the spawn area and test them on the Sickly Goblins in the early game. This way you can try all weapons in the game and get a feel for them for free without having to invest anything into buying them later down the line. Not only this, but all new characters start with only one weapon, either ranged or melee depending on which class you play. However, you can and should be wearing both ranged and melee weapons in order to level them at the same time regardless of which one is your main weapon.
Importance of Glint
Glint is one of, if not the most important items in the game and its required in the creation of caravans but also can be sold to vendors. This glint drops from most mobs, including the low level goblins you meet in the beginning of the game. Make sure to stack all the glint you can get, but be aware that you can lose it by dying to either mobs or players, dropping glint every time you die alongside other items. To counter this, you should sell glint to vendors for copper, gold or silver.
Blocking, Sprinting, Dodging
Unlike other MMORPGs, Ashes of Creation offers a semi-action combat where you can make use of dodging, sprinting and blocking, somewhat similar to how New World handles combat while all three are connected to a player's stamina bar which passively recharges in and out of combat. However, with Ashes of Creation remaining a tab targeting game, the use of these mechanics isn't as widespread as it should be if the game was a true action combat MMORPG. However, this doesn't mean you should ignore them. You can see the keybinds to all three on the bottom of the screen right next to the action bar and these keybinds can also be changed in settings if needed.
Consumables
Consumables are very important in Ashes of Creation and can make a big difference when leveling or during PVP or PVE encounters. And while there are many consumables that can be crafted in the game, the most important ones remain the scrolls and food. Good examples of these consumables are the xp scrolls ( Novice Scroll of Adventuring Experience,
Apprentice Scroll of Adventuring Experience &
Journeyman Scroll of Adventuring Experience) which help when leveling your character.
Journeyman Scroll of Strength &
Journeyman Scroll of Intelligence are great for extra damage if you don't need the experience and would rather kill mobs or players faster.
As far as food goes, Fruit Salad and
Fresh Salad are the main two all classes can use to boost damage with minimal investment.
Gear Upgrades
With gear being very important in the early game of Ashes of Creation, you should look to minimize the cost of it as much as possible. While there are vendors selling gear in both Samia's Hope and Lionhold, they are priced higher than usual. Instead, riding over to the Smithy and Hideworker in Avon's End west of Lionhold will allow you to buy the same items but cheaper. If you are a mage or a healer, you should head to the Laboratory which is north east of Samia's Hope. Always try to prioritize upgrading weapons first as that will give you the power boost required to advance faster in AoC.
Events
If progress and wealth are your goals in Ashes of Creation, you shouldn't be ignoring the world events found throughout the world. Marked with a circle and a red warning sign that can be hovered over for more information, you should always try to take part in these as you come across them.
Resting & HP Regen
With the early level mobs being absolutely brutal when tackling them solo, you should make sure to use both Rations and Resting Regen for both your health and mana between pulls. You can sit down by pressing the default key X which will make your character sit and begin regenerating HP and Mana at a slow rate. You can boost this regeneration by using
Rations which can be bought from most NPC vendors for cheap.
Surplus Coins & Gear
One of the most efficient way of gearing early before level 10 is to do the Surplus Coin Questline and get Surplus Coins which will allow you to buy gear, and more importantly weapons from the Surplus Coin Vendor found in any major settlements. You begin the quest in Samia's Hope at level 5 by talking with Esh-Rumat Qeyara.
