Inkwell Fan & Soulshade Umbrella PvE Build
- Good Healing
- Easy to Play
- Good Range
- No Ressurection
- Low-ish DPS
Overview
This build pairs the
Inkwell Fan with the
Soulshade Umbrella and is strong enough to clear all PvE content in Where Winds Meet. It works well in boss fights, Hero’s Realm, and Sword Trials by providing solid healing and still dealing safe ranged damage.
Compared to
Soulshade Umbrella with
Panacea Fan, it lacks big AoE heals and
Resurrection, but it is still very reliable. You mainly use the
Inkwell Fan to deal damage from range or air juggle enemies while focusing on keeping the team healthy as the
Echoes of a Thousand Plants heals without you really trying.
This build is very friendly for new players since it is simple and safe to play. More experienced players can still use it effectively, though it may feel a bit slow or boring since the playstyle is very straightforward and defensive.
Martial Arts
Gear
Stats Priority
While the Gear part of the build is still under development and more information will come soon, you should use the Rainwhisper + Moonflare set combo and make sure to keep the buff active by weaving in Heavy and Light attacks as needed. This part of the build is still under construction as far as specific stats go.
Inner Way
Morale Chant is the core Inner Way for this build (and many others as its by far the best Inner Way in the game). Every hit or heal increases your damage and healing, and it is very easy to keep stacks up, which makes it too strong to skip.
To increase healing further,
Restoring Blossom is obvious. It boosts all healing you do and makes the
Soulshade Umbrella much more effective in long, group PVE fights.
Flying Gourds adds another charge to your
Peak's Springless Silence so you can use it more often.
To add passive damage,
Fivefold Bleed is a solid pick. It applies bleed stacks just by attacking, so you do not need to think about it and the damage adds up quickly.
Mystic Skills
Dragon's Breath is a strong DoT skill that slowly burns enemies down. After applying it, you can cancel the animation with Deflect so the fire keeps ticking while you move or attack. Once the burn is active, follow up with
Drunken Poet to trigger extra burn explosions and push your damage higher without using endurance.
For fast damage and gap closing,
Soaring Spin works very well. If both hits land, it deals big burst damage and helps you move into fights quickly.
Cloud Steps is mostly used for movement. It lets you jump between targets, get closer faster, and does extra damage to mounted enemies. You can also combo it with
Guardian Palm for good AoE.
Wolflike Frenzy is great when enemies or bosses are knocked down. It deals strong single target damage and its first hit can also knock mobs down, making it useful in many situations. You can also swap this one out for
Leaping Toad.
When fighting groups,
Blinding Mist is very strong for AoE control and damage. If you want a cheaper Vitality option instead,
Ghost Bind works well to pull enemies together and set up follow ups.
Rotations
- Use
Floating Grace as a prebuff before using
Echoes of a Thousand Plants to add the umbrella next to you, following you around while also healing allies independently of what you are doing.
- Jump in using the
Peak's Springless Silence then follow up with
Moon Shatter Spring to knock them down after air juggling them (if its a mob that can be CC'd). Use
Dragon's Breath next to set them on fire and deal damage. Then, use
Jadewind Shield to block out the enemy and use ranged Light Attacks after one Heavy (to buff). Use Light Attacks to deal damage from range until
Peak's Springless Silence comes off cooldown and you can use it again into
Dragon's Breath +
Drunken Poet.
Floating Grace: Always make sure to use this in group content, as it buffs your allies and increases the damage they deal.
Pale Petal: This is not a high-priority skill, but it can be useful for keeping bosses Exhausted when needed.
