Thundercry Blade & Inkwell Fan PvE Build
- Very Tanky
- Good Mobility
- Easy to Play
- Boring to play
- Slow
- Off-meta Low Damage
Overview
Using
Thundercry Blade with the
Inkwell Fan mixes the high resistance of the
Thundercry Blade with good mobility from the
Inkwell Fan, letting you move between targets quickly and do good damage while also having the opportunity for airjuggling enemies, adding some nice burst damage potential and ranged attacks. While the build is considered off-meta and not the most efficient for either of the two roles, acting as a mix of a tank and a DPS, the build is still good enough for solo content and even tanking in group PVE.
Martial Arts
Gear
Stats Priority
While the Gear part of the build is still under development and more information will come soon, you should use the Rainwhisper + Formbend set combo. You can use Moonflare for armor until Formbend becomes available. This part of the build is still under construction as far as specific stats go.
Inner Way
To start,
Adaptive Steel is a strong pick because it boosts the crit damage of your Charged Skills like
Avalanche and
Galecloud Cleave, which you use often with this weapon.
Exquisite Scenery is also very important since it speeds up the
Thundercry Blade, letting you deal damage without fully charging attacks every time.
Morale Chant stays one of the best Inner Ways in the game. It increases both damage and healing as you fight, and keeping stacks is very easy. To push damage even further,
Battle Anthem adds another flat damage boost, making your hits feel much stronger overall.
Mystic Skills
Ghost Bind is a strong setup skill that locks enemies in place. It gives you time to safely follow up with damage skills like
Dragon's Breath or just to get away, looting chests without having to kill them, etc.
Dragon's Breath is a great damage skill on its own. It applies a burn that keeps dealing damage, and after the first use it becomes instant thanks to the Intoxicated buff. When you follow it with
Drunken Poet, every hit causes extra burn explosions, giving you strong damage while saving endurance, spending vitality instead.
For AOE damage,
Leaping Toad is very effective. It hits quickly, can be used up to three times, and once upgraded it spreads poison that explodes on nearby enemies for solid AoE damage. You can also use
Cloud Steps together with
Guardian Palm to jump in and deal strong AoE damage where you land, making it a good option for hitting grouped enemies.
Rotations
- The rotation is very straightforward. Start by activating
Predator's Shield to protect yourself, then channel
Sunrush Gale into
Galecloud Cleave. Follow up with
Avalanche for extra damage.
- Open by leaping onto the target with
Peak's Springless Silence, then chain into
Moon Shatter Spring to keep the combo going before dealing damage with
Soaring Spin once the mob has landed onto the ground. After that, you can cancel the second hit with Deflect and apply
Dragon's Breath to set up the burn, then follow with
Drunken Poet to push through normal attacks and deal heavy damage.
