Overview
This Ranger build focuses on leveling up in Ashes of Creation quickly by making use of the incredible AOE DPS the Ranger offers, with skills like Scatter Shot and Disengage at early levels, making it easy to clear out groups of mobs without any real issues, grinding XP quickly. Even though this Ranger build requires good knowledge of how to kite, it can still be picked up and played well even by new players once you've gotten the hang of it.

Stamina
As you level and progress in Ashes of Creation as a Ranger, Escape Velocity is perfect to boost your movement speed while sprinting in combat (default key C) and it also helps with kiting enemies, making it much easier to AOE farm. This becomes even more important later in the game, allowing you to kite mobs while waiting for cooldowns or to escape dangerous situations entirely if needed.
Next, invest in Recuperation Training and Evasive Maneuver to boost your evasion rate while dodging. This also unlocks Springstep, which greatly improves your mobility by increasing your roll distance.
Afterward, use your remaining points on the Guard Training branch to reduce stamina drain when blocking (default key E). Adding Mental Fortification can also be useful, as it reduces the chance of being crowd-controlled (CC’d) while blocking, which is helpful in certain situations.
Rotations
- First make sure that you have both Imbue Ammo: Weighted and Hunt of the Tiger active as it helps a great deal when kiting by staggering targets you hit. At the same time, Hunt of the Tiger greatly increases the crit damage you do.
- Start the rotation by pulling mobs through the use of your bow auto-attacks before lining them up so you hit all of them when using Scatter Shot. Having them in a line helps a great deal once you have Concentrated Scatter Shot active as the width of the skill doesn't reach too far. Finish the rotation with Disengage then either wait for cooldowns before doing another pull or regenerate your HP.
- Make sure you are using Imbue Ammo: Barbed for this before you use Bear Trap onto the ground between yourself and the enemy as you prepare to pull the mob in question. Use Barrage to apply Bleed then use Snipe to deal very high damage before transitioning straight into Lightning Reload and following up with another Snipe.
- Continue the rotation with Thundering Shot and then Headshot once the target is below 50% HP as that will increase the damage you do with Headshot.
- First, ensure that both Imbue Ammo: Weighted and Hunt of the Tiger are active. These are very helpful for kiting, as Imbue Ammo: Weighted staggers the targets you hit, while Hunt of the Tiger significantly boosts your critical damage.
- Pull mobs with your bow auto-attacks before luring them together so you can use Scatter Shot two times and apply the Snare debuff thanks to Imbue Ammo: Weighted. Follow up with Air Strike and flip over the enemies, rooting them in place. Use Thundering Shot in order to apply the Shocked debuff and boost Raining Death damage to deal higher AOE damage.
- Use Lightning Reload and then use Raining Death again to finish off the rotation.
