- Great CC
- Good for Solo Play
- Great Mobility
- High AOE DPS
- Squishy
Overview
This Ranger build offers amazing AOE DPS but also good single target DPS, making the Ranger a fantastic choice for both solo and group PVE content regardless of the path you choose in Ashes of Creation. The build becomes much stronger as you get to higher level and get access to hard hitting skills like Raining Death and
Thundering Shot as they greatly increase your damage potential and are your main damaging skills alongside
Snipe and
Headshot for single target DPS.

Stamina

As you level and progress in Ashes of Creation as a Ranger, Escape Velocity is perfect to boost your movement speed while sprinting in combat (default key C) and it also helps with kiting enemies, making it much easier to AOE farm. This becomes even more important later in the game, allowing you to kite mobs while waiting for cooldowns or to escape dangerous situations entirely if needed.
Next, invest in Recuperation Training and Evasive Maneuver to boost your evasion rate while dodging. This also unlocks
Springstep, which greatly improves your mobility by increasing your roll distance.
Afterward, use your remaining points on the Guard Training branch to reduce stamina drain when blocking (default key E). Adding Mental Fortification can also be useful, as it reduces the chance of being crowd-controlled (CC’d) while blocking, which is helpful in certain situations.
Rotations

- Make sure you are using
Enhance Armament: Barbs for this before you use
Bear Trap onto the ground between yourself and the enemy as you prepare to pull the mob in question. Use
Power Shot to build focus then transition into
Barrage to apply Bleed then use
Snipe to deal very high damage before transitioning straight into
Lightning Reload and following up with another
Snipe.
- Continue the rotation with
Thundering Shot and then
Headshot once the target is below 50% HP as that will increase the damage you do with
Headshot.

- First, ensure that both
Enhance Armament: Barbs and
Hunt of the Tiger are active. These skills are very useful as they improve DPS considerably, with
Enhance Armament: Barbs applying bleed. Meanwhile,
Hunt of the Tiger greatly increases your critical damage.
- If you have a tank, let them pull mobs together before using
Bear Trap and letting the mobs run over it to deal damage and also snare the mobs. Follow up with
Scatter Shot two times in order to apply bleed then turn it into Hemorrage with
Vine Field. Use
Thundering Shot to then apply the Shocked debuff and boost
Raining Death damage to deal even more AOE DPS before using
Lightning Reload to use
Raining Death again.
