Inkwell Fan & Vernal Umbrella PvE Build
- Great Damage
- Grear Range
- Easy to Play
- Great Solo
- Somewhat clunky
Overview
One of the only strong pure Ranged DPS options in Where Winds Meet, the
Inkwell Fan combining with the
Vernal Umbrella offers an option for players looking to play the game from range without getting too deep into the melee mechanics. Eventhough it can prove difficult at times, this is still a very powerful build to to play in all content, from solo to group play, bosses, or just exploring the open world. This combination is particularly good for new players but performs particularly well in the hands of a skilled player that can reach the skill ceiling of the build.
Tactical use of
Jadewind Shield is very important to help keep enemies away from you and help both yourself and your team funnel enemies wherever you need, in other CC skills or AOE damage. This skill also boosts your ranged damage done so spamming both charges is a terrible choice.
Martial Arts
Gear
While the Gear part of the build is still under development and more information will come soon, you should use the Veil of the Willow + Beyond the Chill set combo and make sure to keep the buff active by weaving in Heavy and Light attacks as needed. This part of the build is still under construction as far as specific stats go.
Inner Way
Morale Chant is one of the best Inner Ways in the game and a to choice that cannot be ignored in this build as it increases damage done by simply attacking enemies, keeping 5 stacks up as much as possible is the best way to make use of this skill. Another important Inner Way is the
Blossom Barrage which not only adds an extra charge to your
Spring Sorrow but also increases the damage their receive from your attacks.
Breaking Point is another good Inner Way as it boosts damage nicely, especially along with
Fivefold Bleed which is responsible for extra bleed damage.
Mystic Skills
Ghost Bind is an incredibly powerful AOE CC support skill as it helps you setup mobs for yourself or your allies. Another good CC skill is the
Talon Strike which can knock down a target for both yourself and your allies while
Soaring Spin does the same.
Cloud Steps combos perfectly into
Guardian Palm to deal high AOE damage to all mobs while also offering you different options to better kite.
Wolflike Frenzy and
Soaring Spin along with
Talon Strike are 3 other low vitality Mystic Skills you should use when caught in close range or wanting to deal with enemies up close.
Rotations
- Begin by putting up a
Jadewind Shield which not only blocks enemy ranged attacks but also keeps them away from you, positioning this between yourself and some walls can make it impossible for the mobs to reach you while also boosting your ranged damage done. This will grant you extra damage.
- Use a Heavy Attack to trigger Veil of the Willow (extra damage on light attacks). Make sure to always have this buff up by swinging heavy attacks whenever you lose the buff.
- Swap to your
Vernal Umbrella and use
Spring Sorrow to hit the enemy and buff yourself further before holding down
Spring Away to deal high damage. Then, use
Unfading Flower to add extra DPS from the umbrella, swapping back to the
Inkwell Fan to do Light Attacks and another
Jadewind Shield. and
Spring Away.
- Start the rotation with
Peak's Springless Silence to knock an enemy into the air before following up with
Moon Shatter Spring then straight into
Soaring Spin to remain close to the knocked down enemy before using
Wolflike Frenzy for even more damage.
