Strategic Sword & Thundercry Blade PvE Build
- Easy to Play
- Can Tank
- Decent Damage
- Good Utility
- Slow
- Somewhat Clunky to use
Overview
This tanking build is a great choice for those looking to play a tank that can also deal damage quickly without having to rely only onto the
Thundercry Blade for its potent, yet slow damage. This is where the
Strategic Sword comes to use with its high damage combos further improved by its unique Inner Way
Sword Horizon extending the attacks while remaining close to the boss to tank in group PVE scenarios. This build is perfect for newer players that want to play a bruiser style combination with powerful shields and AOE damage.
Martial Arts
Gear
While the Gear part of the build is still under development and more information will come soon, you should use the Hawkwing + Eaglerise set combo. This part of the build is still under construction as far as specific stats go.
Inner Way
As far as Inner Ways go, the combined power of
Trapped Beast &
Art of Resistance is tough to beat as it provides an extra shield when your HP goes low, letting healers heal you back up while also increasing the duration of this shield and the
Predator's Shield.
If you feel like you want more damage instead, you can go for
Adaptive Steel &
Exquisite Scenery instead of
Trapped Beast &
Art of Resistance.
Sword Horizon is a must-have for the
Strategic Sword since it lets you build more bleed stacks and deal higher damage. It also extends the combos of both
Inner Balance Strike III and
Inner Track Slash without needing any new key inputs, making it an easy but very strong upgrade. Just like
Sword Horizon,
Morale Chant is another extremely powerful Inner Way you should never skip, as it boosts your damage by stacking a damage buff every time you hit an enemy.
Mystic Skills
Ghost Bind is a good skill for AOE CCing mobs together and prepare for another attack.
Cloud Steps is a nice utility skill that can also transition into other skills for combos but its generally used for movement and to jump on enemies easier.
Wolflike Frenzy &
Free Morph are both super good for dealing good damage while the bosses are knocked down or you can use them together to combo into a high damage attack.
Dragon's Breath is another good option for DOT damage, burning up enemies quickly before using Deflect to get out of the animation and let them burn. Follow up the
Dragon's Breath with
Drunken Poet for extra damage.
Soaring Spin is useful for extra gap closing and doing good damage quickly, often being used like the
Cloud Steps.
Rotations
- This rotation is equally strong against stacked enemies and bosses whenever you are tanking. Start by using
Predator's Shield to buff yourself and use the shield while charging up skills. Continue by using
Sunrush Gale to pull mobs, use
Galecloud Cleave next and combine it with
Avalanche to deal AOE damage against all of them. Swap out with
Dual-Weapon Skill and continue with the
Strategic Sword Rotation next.
- While this isn't a complex rotation, it gets much better once you've unlocked and started using
Sword Horizon. Begin the rotation by using
Dragon's Breath to stack up fires on a target. Begin with
Inner Track Slash full combo straight into
Inner Balance Strike III for an extended combo. Continue the rotation with another
Dragon's Breath and then a full combo of
Drunken Poet.
You can replace the
Dragon's Breath and
Drunken Poet for
Wolflike Frenzy &
Free Morph for extra damage or to juggle enemies into the air.
