Thundercry Blade & Strategic Sword PvP Build
- Easy to Play
- Good Shields
- Very Tanky
- Slow
- Somewhat Clunky to use
Overview
This bruiser build remains one of the best defensive builds in Where Winds Meet. While this build is quite slow and takes a long time to kill players, it remains a strong build which is particularly good against enemies that have less game knowledge. This defensive style of play is the best when played in group PVP, particularly good in guild battles. However, 1vs1 arena can also be played with this build as it counters a lot of other builds with the simplicity of bunkering down using
Thundercry Blade's
Sunrush Gale to pull enemies in and force them to take damage and stay up close before using the
Strategic Sword combos to deal high damage.
Martial Arts
Gear
While the Gear part of the build is still under development and more information will come soon, you should use the Hawkwing + Eaglerise set combo. This part of the build is still under construction as far as specific stats go.
Inner Way
For Inner Ways, use
Battle Anthem &
Exquisite Scenery to boost
Thundercry Blade damage and create large openings for you to follow up with attacks. The one non-negotiable Inner Way is the
Morale Chant which you you should always take, as it boosts your damage by stacking a damage buff with every hit.
Sword Horizon is essential for the
Strategic Sword because it helps you build more bleed stacks and deal extra damage, upgrading your skills to do more attacks, extending the combo potential. It also lengthens the combos of both
Inner Balance Strike III and
Inner Track Slash without needing any special new inputs, making it a simple but very strong upgrade.
Mystic Skills
Yaksha Rush combos perfectly into
Free Morph to juggle enemies into the air and deal good damage.
Wolflike Frenzy &
Free Morph are both super strong when comboing them together, if you manage to land a
Wolflike Frenzy, you can easily transition into a free
Free Morph for extra damage.
Dragon's Breath is another good option for DOT damage which can also be cancelled by using Deflect to get out of the animation quickly and continue fighting. Follow up the
Dragon's Breath with
Drunken Poet for extra damage or go straight into a
Soaring Spin or other skills.
Another must-have is the
Serene Breeze which gets you out of CCs and attack chains so you can comeback into the fight.
Golden Body is a great defensive as it gives you CC immunity for the duration and can help finish a fight.
Rotations
- Start by using
Predator's Shield to buff yourself and use the shield as an enemy comes closer. Follow up with
Sunrush Gale to pull the enemy close to you and deal damage before using
Yaksha Rush into
Free Morph to deal high damage once the enemy is close enough. Here you can either swap to the
Strategic Sword and do that rotation or continue with this:
- Use
Soaring Spin if they try to move away. If they make the mistake of fighting back, you should channel a
Galecloud Cleave into them, winning the trade thanks to the CC immunity. You can then make use of
Dragon's Breath to deny a counter attack and reset the fight.
- This rotation isn’t very complex, but it becomes much stronger once you unlock and start using
Sword Horizon. Open with
Dragon's Breath to stack fire on the target. Then use a full
Inner Track Slash combo followed by
Inner Balance Strike III to extend the sequence. After that, use another
Dragon's Breath and finish with a full
Drunken Poet combo.
- If you prefer more damage or want to juggle enemies, you can swap out
Dragon's Breath and
Drunken Poet for
Wolflike Frenzy and
Free Morph assuming you get an opening for it.
