Gladiator - Spear + Greatsword Large Scale PvP Build
- High AoE Damage
- High Single Target DPS
- Gear Dependant
- Long CDs
- High Skill Ceiling
Overview
This Gladiator Spear + Greatsword PvP build is aimed at performing well in large scale PVP as both an assassin and a way to CC multiple enemies and create openings for your team. Highly oppressive skills like Devastating Smash and Death From Above can create chaos in the enemy team, allowing you to exploit openings. The build thrives in the enemy backline among ranged DPS, capable of killing them quickly before moving on to the next target. This build performs well in all large scale PVP scenarios, War Games, Open World Bosses or GVG content like Interdimensional Riftstones, etc.
Attributes
As a Gladiator, prioritize investing into Strength and Dexterity. These two stats will boost your damage and improve your chances of landing heavy attacks, as well as increasing skill damage due to the Vital Force passive. You should aim to get 50 points into Strength for the extra heavy attack chance as well as all the extra health you get. Dexterity should be your next priority to enhance critical hits, with any remaining points going into Perception for more hit rate. Fortituede is also a decent choice as it adds more endurance and boosts overall damage but its tough to fit in.
Skills
Start upgrading a few Greatsword skills first as Devastating Smash stun rate is improved by upgrading the skill while Guillotine Blade is the best choice for upgrading an Omnipotence skill and a great way to spend your Omnipotence skill books, greatly increasing Guillotine Blade damage. Ascending Slash is a perfect setup skill for Guillotine Blade following a successful Devastating Smash.
Continue by upgrading your spear skills with the first two being Vicious Fury and Javelin Surge as they are used together in a combo to deal high AOE damage. Not only that, but this combo also allows you to play at medium range, throwing spears and ranged attacks. Continue with Culling Arc and Rising Slash as using Rising Slash to pop Ignite debuffs, dealing more damage.
As far as passives go, Robust Constitution and Vital Force work together to increase your damage based on your Max HP. Cold Warrior is another key damage-boosting skill, as it raises your heavy attack chance when the target is stunned or affected by the Shocked debuff. It also increases your critical chance, which fits perfectly with Spear's focus on critical hits.
Raging Frenzy is another no-brainer choice as you are almost always near 3 or more enemies, especially when using Death From Above. Victor's Morale is the perfect passive for regenerating mana and as the build is rather mana hungry and can be difficult to keep up during longer fights.
Equipment
These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.
This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Greatsword: Spend the first 9 mastery points into Face Off to add extra heavy attack chance and attack speed, important for both Greatswords and Spears. Next, invest the 9 other points into Incapacitate for Cooldown Speed and Stun duration increase while one last point can be added to Charge for a bit more defense.
Spear: Allocate 9 points into Face Off, followed by 9 points in Destroy to amplify your damage and cooldown speed, enhancing the overall damage of the Impaler. Use the last point in Charge for more defense.
Rotations
- This is best used in 1v1 fights as it doeas quick damage before you can move out. Start with Unyielding Sentinel to buff yourself , increasing heavy attack chance. Then, use Precision Dash to boost heavy attack chance further before using Devastating Smash to stun the target. Follow up with Ascending Slash to prone the player before using Guillotine Blade to deal extra damage.
- Transition into the Spear part of the rotation with Cyclonic Fury which applies Ignite stacks before you pop them using Rising Slash.
- Prebuff with Unyielding Sentinel before you channel Death From Above on an enemy player in the backline. Once you land, use Devastating Smash to stun targets so you can continue the rotation with Cyclonic Fury which applies ignite stacks to the stunned enemies so you can burst them using Rising Slash.
- As the fight evolves, aim to use Vicious Fury to build up ember stacks so you can throw Javelin Surge and continue to deal damage while remaining on the move.
