This Gladiator Spear + Greatsword PvP build is one of the best choices for those looking to play in small scale PVP scenarios like Arenas, Dominion Events or Night Time PVP in dungeons or Saurodoma Island. This build is fantastic for new players, with an easy to understand kit that also excels in 1vs1 fights with a heavy focus on CC skills, capable of bursting down targets with ease.

SECONDARY

Fortitude
With the unique stats and attributes system in Throne and Liberty, it can be difficult to determine exactly where to invest your attribute points at each stage of the game. This is because gear pieces provide attributes just like leveling up does, meaning everyone will have a different number of attribute points depending on what gear they are wearing at the time.
Given this variation, it's best to reset your attributes regularly to adjust to the new gear you acquire. Aim to reach the achievement effects, which provide extra benefits at milestones like 30, 50, and 70 points.

As a Gladiator, focus on investing in Strength and Dexterity. These stats increase your damage, improve heavy attack chances, and enhance skill damage through the Vital ForceActive frame.webpVital Force passive. Aim for 50 points in Strength to gain extra heavy attack chance and the bonus health. Dexterity should be your next focus to boost critical hits, with any leftover points allocated to Perception to improve your hit rate. Fortitude is also a good option for added endurance and overall damage, but it can be hard to get as very few gear pieces in game offer fortitude as a stat, and they rarely fit into gear choices.

Focus on upgrading the main Greatsword skills like Death BlowUsed frame.webpDeath Blow and Ascending SlashUsed frame.webpAscending Slash alongside Stunning BlowUsed frame.webpStunning Blow. Follow up by upgrading Guillotine BladeUsed frame.webpGuillotine Blade, the best choice for upgrading an Omnipotence skill and a great way to spend your Omnipotence skill books, greatly increasing Guillotine BladeUsed frame.webpGuillotine Blade damage.

Once you've upgraded Greatsword skills, start focusing on the Spear, starting with Vicious FuryUsed frame.webpVicious Fury and Javelin SurgeUsed frame.webpJavelin Surge, which work together as a powerful combo for high AOE damage. This combo also lets you fight well at medium range, using spear throws as ranged attacks to secure kills or put pressure on targets caught in your Precision DashUsed frame.webpPrecision Dash bind. Follow up with Culling ArcUsed frame.webpCulling Arc and Rising SlashUsed frame.webpRising Slash, utilizing Rising SlashUsed frame.webpRising Slash to trigger Ignite debuffs and deal extra damage.

For passives, Robust ConstitutionActive frame.webpRobust Constitution and Vital ForceActive frame.webpVital Force are essential, as they boost your damage based on your Max HP. Cold WarriorActive frame.webpCold Warrior is another critical passive, increasing heavy attack chances when enemies are stunned or affected by the Shocked debuff, while also boosting your critical chance, which complements the Spear's reliance on crits. Mortal WrathActive frame.webpMortal Wrath is a great pick for the damage increase and the fact it allows you to finish off targets much easier.

Raging FrenzyActive frame.webpRaging Frenzy is another must-have since you'll often be near three or more enemies, especially when using Death From AboveUsed frame.webpDeath From Above. Lastly, Victor's MoraleActive frame.webpVictor's Morale is invaluable for regenerating mana, which is crucial for this mana-intensive build, especially during prolonged fights.

These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.

This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.

This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of FuryTevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Rune Information Attack runeDefense runeSupport rune
While runes can be applied to different types of gear, you should make sure that you invest into the gear pieces that you plan on using for a long time. However, if the build you are using uses the same items between Mid Game and End Game, you can invest into adding runes to them as early as you get the items.

Next, allocate 9 points into Incapacitate to enhance Cooldown Speed and extend Stun duration. Finally, invest 1 point into Charge to gain a bit of extra defense, rounding out your build with a balance of offense and survivability.

Spear: Allocate 9 points into Face Off to boost your heavy attack chance and attack speed, essential for maximizing damage output. Then, invest 9 points into Destroy to further amplify your damage and cooldown speed, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of the Impaler. Finally, use the last point in Charge to add a bit of extra defense, providing some durability to your build.
