Templar - Wand + Sword Small Scale PvP Build
- High Defense
- Can Self-heal & Others
- Easy to Play
- Low Damage compared to DPS
- Low Mobility
Overview
This Templar Sword and Wand build focuses on small scale PvP and acts as a tanky bruiser capable of dealing significant damage on its own without the need of a party. While it doesn't have as much DPS as DPS specific builds, it still packs a punch and can do significant damage in 1vs1 while also drawing attention to itself during small skirmishes in team play when you have a team to help you.
Attributes
For this Templar build, focus on investing points into Strength and Perception as your main stats. Strength boosts your max HP and defensive stats, while Perception increases buff duration and hit chance. Together, these attributes make it easier to stay alive in PvP by keeping your buffs active and improving your durability throughout the fight while also offering good extra damage.
Skills
Your goal as a Templar remains to draw attention on yourself and stay alive, anchoring the fight around you and forcing enemies to focus you instead of the DPS in your group whenever you play with a group. For healing you should focus on skills like Clay's Salvation and Swift Healing alongside Fountain of Life, upgrading them as early as possible.
This Templar build still offers some damage though! Mainly A Shot at Victory and Annihilating Slash that can be used to deal good damage and slow down enemies. Witty Strike on the other hand mostly acts as a way to regain stamina while still doing decent damage. Shield Strike is another core DPS skill in your kit and is one of the most used during all PVP fights regardless if it is a 1vs1 or a group fight.
The Templar shines in its defenses though, Counter Barrier is the most important skill to focus first as Counter Barrier greatly improves your Shield Block Chance which is a core part of any Sword builds and the reason why you should always aim to acquire swords with high Block Chance. Strategic Rush is your main mobility skill and helps a whole lot with stacking enemies together followed by a stun when used against walls, acting as a fantastic CC. Chain Hook is another way to catch enemies offguard and pull them into your own team for a free kill.
Passive skills are just as crucial as active ones, so make sure to level them up. Start by prioritizing Aegis Shield and Resilient Mind for added defense and mana sustain whenever you avoid attacks.
On the Wand side of your build, focus on upgrading Noble Revival to boost healing, along with Saint's Oath. Finally, Selfless Soul is also valuable for helping maintain your mana supply.
Equipment
These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.
This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Wand: Invest 9 points into Damage to boost skill damage, followed by 9 points into Recovery to enhance Skill Heal, critical rate, and heavy attack potential. Use the final 1 point on Weaken for an added bonus.
Sword: Fully upgrade Collision to reduce cooldowns and improve collision resistance and chance. Then, spend 9 points on Provoke & Counter to enhance your shield block chance and overall resistances. Begin with 6 points in Provoke & Counter to unlock the shield block advantage early.
Rotations
- This is your main DPS rotation and begins with Chain Hook as you pull an enemy to your location before following up with Shield Strike. Hit them using A Shot at Victory to deal good damage while also increasing your sword follow-up damage. You should slow the enemy down with Annihilating Slash before using Witty Strike to regenerate stamina and do a bit more damage. Use Annihilating Slash once the previous slow you've applied expires, making it even more difficult to get away from you.
- Even though its difficult to have the same rotation in every engage as a Sword & Shield + Wand player, this is the general idea of tanking damage in PvP. You should aim to start your stationary hold with Stalwart Bastion as it greatly increases your defense before making use of Shield Survival Technique to block off some attacks before carrying on improving your defense with Counter Barrier. Remember that you can also use Shield Survival Technique to the sides as a roll so you cannot be caught by Ankle Strike.
Stalwart Bastion: Use when going for a push with your team or when your team is getting pushed, most shotcallers will ask for this to be cast as well so pay attention.
Swift Healing: This ability serves as your primary healing tool for both yourself and your party members. However, it's important to exercise caution, especially with the second cast, as it consumes a significantly larger amount of mana.
Clay's Salvation: This is your AoE healing ability. Try to use it whenever your group mates are close together so the AoE heal can reach all of them in order for your zerg to absorb enemy DPS.
Fountain of Life: You should use this ability on pushes, putting it ahead of your zergs so players could pull together into it's AoE to heal themselves. You can also use this ability as a reaction to enemy pushes, putting it in the path of your retreat.
Useful Information
- Select Green Ranger Elowen as your guardian; it roots people around you and can assist in executing your rotation. Normally used right after Queen Bellandir's Blade Quicksand (assuming you get the weapon), the guardian provides amazing CC but with a very long cooldown.
