Templar - Wand + Sword Large Scale PvP Build
- High Defense
- Can Self-heal & Others
- Bad Damage
- Low Mobility
Overview
This Sword and Wand large-scale PvP build focuses around being a frontline tank that can also heal itself and it's allies. It is perfect for players that want to play in the frontline of a zerg but also embrace a support role and aid your fellow frontline players with heals or if you are normally a dedicated healer but want to try out playing in the frontline and tanking as well.
Attributes
With this build, prioritize investing points into Strength and Perception as your primary stats. Strength not only increases your maximum HP but also enhances your defensive stats when coupled with Perception increasing your buff duration and hit chance, making it much easier to stay alive in PVP by keeping your buffs active throughout the duration of the fight.
Skills
Your goal as a Sword & Shield + Wand player is to draw attention on yourself and stay alive, anchoring the fight around you and forcing your enemies to focus you instead of the DPS in your raid. For healing you should focus on skills like Clay's Salvation and Swift Healing alongside Fountain of Life, upgrading them as early as possible.
As far as defensive skills go, Counter Barrier is the most important skill to prioritize first as Counter Barrier greatly improves your Shield Block Chance. Shield Strike is a core ability in your kit and is one of the most used during all PVP fights so should also be a priority. Strategic Rush is your main mobility skill and helps a whole lot with stacking enemies together followed by a stun when used against walls, acting as a fantastic CC. Chain Hook should be another top priority as it adds a much needed bind when you pull a target using the ability and helps you punish overextending enemies.
Passive skills are just as important as active ones though, so don't forget to level them up. Begin by prioritizing Aegis Shield and Resilient Mind as they are fantastic for your defense and much needed mana sustain.
On the Wand side of the build you want to focus on upgrading Noble Revival to boost your healing alongside Saint's Oath. Meanwhile, Selfless Soul helps a great deal with your mana sustain.
Equipment
These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.
This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Wand: Start by putting 9 points into Damage to increase skill damage and follow it up with 9 points into Recovery for better healing, crit rate, and heavy attack efficiency. Finish with 1 point in Weaken for a little extra power.
Sword: Max out Collision to reduce cooldown times and improve collision effectiveness. Afterward, allocate 9 points into Provoke & Counter for better shield block chance and resistance boosts. Make sure to prioritize 6 points in Provoke & Counter early for faster access to the shield block bonus.
Rotations
- While this is one of the simplest combos to execute, your positioning is the most important as you have to be rather close to the enemies to pull this off correctly. You want to look for stacked enemies during an enemy push or while your team is pushing towards the enemy zerg and your shotcaller is looking for an engage. Find an enemy in the group and use Cursed Nightmare to apply the sleep to a single target before using Karmic Haze to spread the Cursed Nightmare to nearby enemies and create an opportunity.
- Even though its difficult to have a stationary rotation as a Sword & Shield + Wand player. You should aim to start your stationary hold with Stalwart Bastion as it greatly increases your defense before making use of Shield Survival Technique to block off some attacks before carrying the defense with Counter Barrier to further boost your defensive. Both Blessed Barrier and Invincible Wall are great to stop burst damage.
Swift Healing: This is your main single target healing ability and heals you for a good amount so its important to use it wisely, even though you can use it three times. Always try to combine it with Blessed Barrier to increase the healing effect.
Stalwart Bastion: Use when going for a push with your team or when your team is getting pushed, most shotcallers will ask for this to be cast as well so pay attention.
Invincible Wall: Use this skill to protect yourself and your team when needed, either to absorb heavy damage from enemies or to help your allies.
Blessed Barrier: This spell gives you another shield on demand along with giving you a massive increase in your defenses for 6 seconds and can be used on other party members as any healing received by a shielded player is also increased.
Clay's Salvation: This is your AoE healing ability. Try to use it whenever your group mates are close together so the AoE heal can reach all of them in order for your zerg to absorb enemy DPS.
Fountain of Life: You should use this ability on pushes, putting it ahead of your zergs so players could pull together into it's AoE to heal themselves. You can also use this ability as a reaction to enemy pushes, putting it in the path of your retreat.
Useful Information
- Select Green Ranger Elowen as your guardian; it roots people around you and can assist in executing your rotation. Normally used right after Queen Bellandir's Blade Quicksand (assuming you get the weapon), the guardian provides amazing CC but with a very long cooldown.
