Upgrading your gear in Throne and Liberty requires two resources; Growthstones and Sollant.
Growthstones
Gear can be upgraded by using the corresponding Growthstone category and quality. Note that Epic II gear uses Epic Growthstones.

Crafting
There are many ways to obtain Growthstones such as questing, logs, dungeons rewards and battle passes. However, the most consistent way to obtain Growthstones is through crafting.
You can obtain the crafting materials required through completing your daily contracts, so make sure to check the rewards for the available contracts. Then use these materials at the crafting NPC for the corresponding category.
Rare Weapon Growthstone | Precious Weapon Growthstone |

x2 x1 x1 x1 x1 6,800 |

Rare Accessory Growthstone | Precious Accessory Growthstone |

You can also convert a lower quality material into a higher quality material at a 1:5 ratio.

Upgrading Gear
Upgrading gear in Throne and Liberty cannot fail, in order to level up a piece of gear you must use materials until your gear reaches 100% exp. The amount of growth gained depends on your luck, where your attempt can either be; Common, Intermediate, Senior or Special.

---|---|---|---|---|
Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Epic II |
Lv. 0 | Lv.6 | Lv.9 | Lv.9 | Lv.9 |
Gear Transfer
You can transfer exp between gear pieces with the following restrictions:
- The pieces must be of the same quality or a difference of one. For example, you can transfer exp from a Rare piece to an Epic piece.
- An item can only have exp transferred to it once.
- Armour pieces must be of the same type.

Max. Uncommon -> Rare | Max. Rare -> Epic | Max. Epic -> Epic II | ||
Lv. 3 | Lv.6 | Lv.6 |
Given this information, this should be your general approach to transferring your gear:
- Ensure you level the piece to max level.
- Transfer exp to the higher quality piece.
This makes the best use of your resources, especially since higher quality gear is more expensive to upgrade.
When transferring exp from an Epic piece to an Epic II piece:
- Get Epic II piece to Lv. 6.3.
- Transfer the Lv. 9 Epic piece to the Lv. 6.3 piece.
The above will ensure you hit max level with your Epic II piece with the least resources possible.
