Dark Elemental Shaikal (Boss)
Shikal repeats the mechanics in order until reaching Frenzy at 35% HP where he casts some mechanics twice as explained below.
Barriers
The battlefield will be separated into 3 parts by a Barrier.
Notice that at the end of each Barrier there is a horn-shaped object. Interacting with this object will disable the corresponding Barrier. Avoid placing mechanics, such as the Red Orb AOEs, on top of these horns.
Activating a horn will place it on cooldown.
Blockable Attack
Shaikal raises his hands and performs a blockable attack. Make sure to correctly time the block.
Failing to do so will trigger an AOE attack that greatly damages players.
Purple Zones
Shaikal will spawn a purple zone underneath two players. Make sure to not stand in these zones.
Red Orb
Shaikal glows red and commences dialogue, which can be seen as a text box above him. One player will be targeted with a glowing red orb above their head. Once the orb disappears a large AoE will be cast in that location.
The targeted player must move away from the party and to the edge of the battlefield to place the AOE attack away from the rest of the party. After the orb disappears, the players should instantly move away from that area to avoid the AOE.
Frenzy
Instead of one player being targeted, there will be two. Again, make sure to not place the AOEs on top of the horns.
Purple Orb
Shaikal will target a player with a glowing purple orb. Once the orb disappears, Shaikal spin and face the targeted player, then channel a purple breath attack that follows the target player, leaving behind a purple effect.
The channel will last until approximately half the map is filled, players should ensure enough Barriers are disabled to move towards the safe half of the map.
- The targeted player should choose a Barrier and disable it.
- Another party member, should disable the next Barrier on the other side of the targeted player.
- The rest of the party should just stay together and DPS.
- The targeted player should run in the direction of the disabled Barriers.
Frenzy
After executing this mechanic, Shaikal will target another player with the Purple Orb and repeat the mechanic. In other words he executes this twice in a row.
However, remember that the horns have a cooldown, meaning you can't reopen them. There are two ways to deal with this:
Cheesing Strategy (Recommended): typically the remaining DPS doesn't take long so parties will often opt for sacrificing the second player.
Standard Strategy:
- The targeted player should stand next to any chosen Barrier and be close to the boss and communicate which direction they're going in.
- The rest of the party should disable the barrier that the targeted player is going in and continue running until they are standing next to the next active Barrier.
This ensures that only one horn is on cooldown. You can then repeat the initial strategy using the two remaining horns.
Notable Encounters
Scorched Earth
Throughout this dungeon, notice that you will find parts of the ground are cracked and have a golden shine, avoid stepping on this.
Blath (Elite)
This encounter starts when you interact with the purple orb in the center of the first battlefield.
During your fight with Blath, he will pull players to him and generate a Scorched Earth maze behind the party. When the maze appears, quickly find your way out!
Belrog (Elite)
This encounter starts when you interact with the purple orb in the center of the center battlefield.
During your fight with Belrog, he will pull the party to him and create two layers of Scorched Earth. Each layer will have four orbs that must all be interacted with to dispel the layer, these orbs will be in the same position for each layer. At least one player should be at each orb to interact with it.
