Scout - Longbow + Crossbow PvE Build
- High Sustained DPS
- Easy to Play
- Utility
- Squishy
- Stationary Gameplay
Overview
This Longbow and Crossbow build works well for all PvE content in Throne and Liberty and remains one of the strongest builds performing well in both single target DPS and AOE DPS thanks to Merciless Barrage. This cookie-cutter build is perfect for anyone that wants to grind PvE events, Contracts, run dungeons or do PvE challenges. The build pairs two weapons with incredible damage output perfectly and remains very easy to play for new players.
Attributes
In order to maximizing your damage potential, invest most points into Dexterity and Perception, aiming to push them first as they offer much needed hit rate and critical hit rate. As both the Crossbows and Longbow are mainly DPS weapons, there is no need for Wisdom, especially not for PVE content but strength can still offer good extra damage increase and a bit of HP that can help with certain encounters.
Skills
Mortal Mark pairs perfectly as a starter for all your combos because it adds extra damage simply by doing damage to the marked enemy. This should be your first priority to improve your max DPS. Follow up by upgrading Quick Fire, Zephyr's Nock, Decisive Sniping, and Merciless Barrage as they are all part of your main DPS rotations. Strafing, is one of your most useful skills and one of your hardest hitting skills but also lowers the cooldown of your Zephyr's Nock if used before it.
Mother Nature's Protest is a fantastic almost passive skill that you should always have toggled on if you are constantly fighting but mind the mana, that's why the build also uses Mana Exchange to offset some of the mana issues you might encounter.
Rapidfire Stance is an incredible damage boosting passive and should take priority when upgrading alongside Devoted Shield as it offers incredible defense with the shield activating when you go below 30% HP. Sniper's Sense and Eagle Vision work in a similar way, improving your DPS based on how far away you are from your target. Bloodlust is another fantastic DPS passive as it increases your skill damage whenever you hit enemies using your skills.
Equipment
These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.
This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Crossbow: Allocate 9 points into Chain Fire to enhance your raw damage and increase your damage output. Invest the following 9 points into Move to boost your ranged heavy attack chance and Hit Chance along with a bit of movement speed. One last point will be added to Regen for extra health regen.
Longbow: Spend 9 points into Sniping for higher overall DPS. Then, invest the nex 9 points into Check for additional damage and cooldown speed which is very useful for this build. One last point is finally invested to Support to gain more Max Health.
Rotations
- This is your main DPS rotation for high HP mobs/bosses, try to be as stationary as possible when using this to make use of Rapidfire Stance. Make sure that you have Mother Nature's Protest active before doing anything else.
- Start the rotation with Deadly Marker to improve your critical rate on the target before applying Mortal Mark to stack damage on the boss. Use Selfless Diffusion to increase your off-hand attack chance and lower skill cooldowns.
- Follow up with Quick Fire and Strafing followed by Zephyr's Nock before continuing with Merciless Barrage and resetting its cooldown with Blitz. Fill in with Quick Fire before transitioning into a second Merciless Barrage.
- Finish the rotation with Nature's Blessing to give yourself the Whirlpool buff so Decisive Sniping channels faster. Use Zephyr's Nock once more as your final skill.
Nature's Blessing: If possible, make sure you call out whenever you use Nature's Blessing so the mage/s in your group can use Inner Peace and refill their entire mana with that.
Useful Information
- Another good guardian is Lady Knight Kamarshea; it provides essential protection with its shield, capable of absorbing damage equal to 50% of your mana. This not only aids in mitigating damage but also increases your cooldown speed in order to let you cast your abilities more often.
