Ranger - Greatsword + Longbow PvE Build
- Good Burst Damage
- High sustained DPS
- Squishy
- No AOE
- Gear Dependant
Overview
Even though this Greatsword and Longbow PvE build is off-meta, it is capable of quickly bursting down targets with initial melee damage from the Greatsword, while the Longbow is used for buffs and passives that increase your overall damage. It is a good choice for dungeons and does fine when grinding contracts or open world dungeons.
Attributes
Focus on Strength and Dexterity as your main stats to push first. They will boost your damage and increase the chance of heavy attacks, as well as improving skill damage through Vital Force. Strength shouldn't be underestimated though as it also offers plenty of health that can help against certain boss mechanics. As you upgrade your gear, target 60 points in Strength to get the extra HP and heavy attack boost. Dexterity will improve your critical hits, and any remaining points should be put into Perception while ignoring Wisdom.
Skills
The Greatsword & Bow build is a great choice for those looking to play an off-meta build and for newer players that are looking to still perform well in all PVE scenarios.
Your main damage skills are Death Blow and Valiant Brawl but also Gaia Crash alongside Guillotine Blade. Level them to purple as soon as possible. Deadly Marker should always be used at the start of an encounter and throughout fights, that for being an important debuff skill alongside Ensnaring Arrow as it triggers your Steady Aim passive improving your crit rate when attacking enemies. Nature's Blessing is a great buff for yourself and your party, allowing you to regenerate both mana and health.
Willbreaker deals damage but also lowers the resistances of all mobs hit by the 360 attack, helping a great deal when AOE grinding mobs in open world dungeons or even in certain regular dungeons where killing trash mobs is important.
For passives, you should focus on upgrading Robust Constitution for additional health and health regen. Vital Force matches well with Robust Constitution and considerably increases your damage. Steady Aim and Rapidfire Stance for extra crit rate, hit rate and attack speed. Meanwhile, Devoted Shield as a defensive passive that can save you in certain situations by activating and protecting you.
Equipment
These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.
This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Longbow: Put 9 points into Sniping to boost both your damage and critical damage. Spend 9 points in Support to increase your resistance and gain extra Perception, which also enhances skill damage resistance and is useful against PVE bosses. The final point should go into Check for additional support.
Greatsword: With the build focusing on putting out as much damage as possible, you want to put 9 points into Face Off for extra damage and heavy attack chance. The other 9 points will go into Incapacitate for more damage and cooldown speed. One remaining point will then go in Charge for a bit of defense.
Rotations
- This is your primary DPS rotation, start with DaVinci's Courage to increase your health and improve your overall damage. Debuff the target with Deadly Marker and increase the crit rate of your party. Follow up with Ensnaring Arrow to apply Oppressed to the target and increase crit rate again through Steady Aim.
- Continue the rotation with Valiant Brawl and Stunning Blow that applies the Shocked debuff so your Guillotine Blade deals higher damage. You want to reset this high damage skill by using Blitz before using Willbreaker to decrease enemy resistances. Continue the rotation with Ascending Slash to Prone the target (if its not a boss).
- Finish the rotation with another Guillotine Blade followed by a fully charged Death Blow and Gaia Crash.
Nature's Blessing: Communicate with your party when you use this skill so staff users can also use Inner Peace and rapidly recover all their mana.
Useful Information
- Choose Lady Knight Kamarshea as your guardian; it offers vital defense with its shield, capable of absorbing damage up to 50% of your mana. This not only assists in reducing incoming damage but also accelerates your cooldown rate, enabling more frequent use of your abilities.
