This build is up to date for the March 14, 2025 patch.
Overview
The Greatsword and Dagger PvE build is centered around achieving high single-target sustained DPS, rendering it perfectly suited for Dungeons and PVE events where maximizing damage against individual targets is desired for a DPS role. Additionally, the build offers great group utility with the use of
DaVinci's Courage, helping with group survivability.

With the unique stats and attributes system in Throne and Liberty, it can be difficult to determine exactly where to invest your attribute points at each stage of the game. This is because gear pieces provide attributes just like leveling up does, meaning everyone will have a different number of attribute points depending on what gear they are wearing at the time.
Given this variation, it's best to reset your attributes regularly to adjust to the new gear you acquire. Aim to reach the achievement effects, which provide extra benefits at milestones like 30, 50, and 70 points.
In this build, prioritize putting points into Strength and Dexterity. These two stats will boost your damage and improve your chances of landing heavy attacks, as well as increasing skill damage due to the
Vital Force ability. The extra health from high Strength is especially helpful in PVP for better survival. As you get better gear, aim for 60 points in Strength to benefit from the extra HP and heavy attack chance. Dexterity should be your next priority to enhance critical hits, with any remaining points going into Perception.
Skills
Depending on which Dungeon/Dimensional Trial you might run, consider using
Rare Roaring Steak,
Rare Thrilling Papillote, and even
Rare Scorpion Tail Fritters to make it easier and also deal a lot more damage.
The Greatsword & Dagger build is a great choice for newer players that are looking to perform well in all PVE scenarios, capable of performing well on every challenge!
Your main damage skills are
Death Blow and
Valiant Brawl but also
Gaia Crash. However,
Guillotine Blade and
Cleaving Moonlight shouldn't be forgotten either. When leveling as these skills deal high damage with low cooldowns. Level them to purple as soon as possible.
Inject Venom should always be used at the start of your rotations, applying the poison that decreases enemy resistances and increases the damage you do.
Inject Venom also triggers the
Destructive Fang, improving your crit rate when attacking poisoned targets.
Brutal Incision deals extra damage to poisoned enemies and is a great choice for finishing off targets.

Willbreaker deals damage but also lowers the resistances of all mobs hit by the 360 attack, helping a great deal when AOE grinding mobs in open world dungeons or even in certain regular dungeons where killing trash mobs is important.
For passives, you should focus on upgrading
Robust Constitution for additional health and health regen.
Vital Force matches well with
Robust Constitution and considerably increases your damage.
Assassin's Instincts and
Destructive Fang for extra crit rate. Meanwhile,
Shadow Walker as a defensive passive that can be triggered at any time by simply using your
Block Blade (you don't have to actually roll to the side to activate this, just pressing your block is enough). It also activates whenever you use
Shadow Strike. This can be used when you cannot dodge certain mob abilities or if you are trying to reposition behind targets.

These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.

This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.

While runes can be applied to different types of gear, you should make sure that you invest into the gear pieces that you plan on using for a long time. However, if the build you are using uses the same items between Mid Game and End Game, you can invest into adding runes to them as early as you get the items.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like
Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Rotations
- This is your primary DPS rotation, start with

DaVinci's Courage to increase your health and improve your overall damage. Buff yourself with
Inject Venom so you can apply poison with all attacks. Once mob/boss is pulled, use
Willbreaker to debuff the target/s before using
Valiant Brawl to stack up the poison and deal high damage when coupled with 2 uses of
Cleaving Moonlight.
- Follow up with

Stunning Blow to apply the Shocked debuff while also increasing the damage you do with
Guillotine Blade. Boost your damage again with
Ascending Slash and Prone your target while charging and using
Death Blow. (Note: You should use
Stunning Blow to
Ascending Slash to
Guillotine Blade if your target CAN get stunned.)
- Finish off the rotation with

Gaia Crash and
Brutal Incision.

DaVinci's Courage: Use this skill to help your group by healing them, increasing their max health and increasing their damage resistance. It is best used before high damage boss mechanics or to save low HP party members.
Useful Information
- An alternative is to select Lady Knight Kamarshea as your guardian; it provides essential protection with its shield, which absorbs damage equal to 50% of your mana. While the shield is active, you also gain a 40% Cooldown Speed boost. Although the shield is valuable, ensure to maintain it for as long as possible to maximize the duration of the increased cooldown speed. Remember, the guardian will be lost if the shield is depleted, so be mindful of that!
