Templar - Wand + Sword PvE Build
- High Defense
- Only real tank in the game
- Can Heal itself
- Terrible Damage
Overview
This Sword and Wand PvE build is specifically designed for tanking in PvE group dungeons. It excels at staying alive while effectively holding the aggro of both mobs and bosses. The use of Wand allows this build to heal itself and allies making certain dungeons like Cave of Destruction do-able without a healer.
Attributes
Your priority with this build should be strength, as it grants you high max HP and improves your defensive stats, providing ranged, magic, and melee defense, as well as health regen. Your secondary stat is dexterity, as it grants you ranged, magic, and melee evasion, further enhancing your defensive capabilities. The remaining points can be allocated to wisdom for some extra maximum mana and mana regen, which should help in maintaining mana when using your wand abilities.
Skills

Skill Priority

As far as skills go, Counter Barrier and
Shield Strike are the most important ones.
Counter Barrier greatly improves your Shield Block Chance, while
Shield Strike serves as your primary single-target aggro-holding ability. It ensures that mobs stay focused on attacking you rather than targeting the rest of your party.
Swift Healing serves as your primary single-target healing ability, while
Touch of Despair is ideal for steadily reducing the health of mobs you encounter.
Passives Priority

We rely on many high-level passives which keeps the cost for the build quite low. You should prioritize Skillful Evasion as it decreases the damage you take from targets you provoke and because of your use of
Shield Strike and
Provoking Roar, most enemies you fight will be provoked. These skills offer excellent sustain by providing mana and health regeneration when dealing damage with your skills or when you are evading attacks.
Devotion and Emptiness should be your priority thereafter, as they increase your healing and decrease your cooldowns.

Wand:
Investing 9 points in Recovery is the only option as it increases the healing amount you can perform while also offering extra mana regeneration. 3 remaining points can go into weaken, mainly for extra damage duration.
Sword: Investing 9 points in the Boss row is a straightforward decision as it provides you with extra PvE defenses tailored for fighting bosses, along with some additional health. The remaining 3 points will be allocated to Provoke & Counter for further defense.
Rotations

- As you approach the boss, begin with
Time for Punishment to decrease the boss's resistances. Immediately follow up with
Touch of Despair to apply damage over time effects before engaging the boss directly. Activate
Counter Barrier and
Shield Strike to firmly establish aggro. Continue using
Touch of Despair on cooldown, alternating with
Shield Strike, while employing
A Shot at Victory for additional damage.
Stalwart Bastion: This ability functions as your panic button when you're taking excessive damage and your passive skills aren't enough to sustain you. It's also the ability you use when the boss casts a high-damage spell, and it's recommended that your party members gather close to benefit from its protective effect.
Provoking Roar: Your sole AoE taunt ability, you should reserve this for drawing the attention of multiple smaller enemies, typically appearing as ads during boss encounters or as trash mobs before reaching bosses.
Immortal Pride: Another ability that can serve as a panic button or boost your health to survive boss damage that would otherwise be fatal.
Blessed Barrier: This spell gives you another shield on demand along with giving you a massive increase in your defenses for 6 seconds and can be used on other party members as any healing received by a shielded player is also increased.
Swift Healing: This is your primary healing ability for yourself or party members. However, exercise caution, as the second cast consumes significantly more mana.
Clay's Salvation: This is your AoE healing ability. Try to use it whenever your group mates are close together so the AoE heal can reach all of them.
Fountain of Life:
You should use this ability on cooldown for yourself. Place the AoE in the position where you tank the boss to receive constant healing. Other party members can move in to receive the heal if needed, but you should prioritize using it for yourself.
Useful Information
- Select Lady Knight Kamarshea as your guardian; it provides essential protection with its shield, capable of absorbing damage equal to 50% of your mana. This not only aids in mitigating damage but also increases your cooldown speed, assisting in holding aggro and ensuring your survival.
